The main advantage of a longer barrel is lower air consume for the same fps and same bullet weight. So, for full advantage, the hammer time must be lowered, also the regulator pressure. With a longer barrel, the pellet has more time to accelerate.
This is an informative video. Small fraternity of people with .177 impacts. I have a 600mm M3 and it is hard to find information on these, especially tunes. I had to frequently clean my liner (150 pellets) or I would loose accuracy. I did a mild polish and things improved (now needs cleaning every 250-400 pellets and much easier to clean). I won't try to polish anymore until I can find an spare STX superior 600 liner. So, yes, it is hard to find over here in the USA too. THANKS
Its interesting how there are different approaches to barrel cleaning. I have never cleaned my barrel unless just after getting a new one, but maybe the 600 mm is different than the 500mm 🤔

Please consider making a detailed video that illustrates how one can achieve such tight extreme spreads and standard deviations with a .177 M3 w/ 600 mm barrel. I have not been able to get even close to the results you showed (1st string in this video). Hi V.A. and thanks for yet another great in analysis and comparison in .177 video. One think to point out though is that FX as far as I know are not producing the 600 mm in Superior Heavy, just standard. The Superior Heavy starts from .22 and up. Anyhow, I don´t care, cause I think tests I have done with the K.O and Wildmans in .177 and using the Superior standard , are okay for my groupings liking and using the 500 mm barrel. Will of course consider the longer 600mm cause the velocity is higher, but I have the feeling that cause of the lite slugs used in .177. the poi and groupings will be less accurate, the further the distance. if you catch my meaning. But slugs are definitely the way to go with .177 as they will travel longer and will, if of course tuned correctly have better groupings than pellets. Looking forward to perhaps a video where you compare the poi and groupings between the 5 and 600 mm. Great you brought with you Stefan the Wizard. Perhaps you can do a video on all the stuff He does for the Impact and perhaps other airguns as well. The only thing now to totally dress up the Impact with CF, is making the shroud, so you have the liner sleeve, the barrel carrier and then just needs the shroud. And by the way......Merry Belated Christmas to you and Your Loved ones! stay safe and shoot safe! ❄🎅🏻🎄🤶🏻☃🔫

Hi friend well played, nice video big speed gain, I heard that if you put a longer gun you also gain in air consumption because you need less air to push lead, would you have been careful during your tests, thank you for sharing
Hi buddy 🙂 You are right! Actually you have the answer in the video bcs the perfect velocity of the ammo dont really change that much from 5 - 600 mm - at least that is not my experience. So if you gain 46 fps by changing from a 500 to a 600 mm liner, you dont have to shoot the 600 mm at this crazy speed. You turn down the power of the gun after installing the longer barrel and get the same speed as with the 500 mm, and thereby saving air 🤗 So the gain is to save air and hopefully improve accuracy. Testing in the upcommin months 😀
A longer gun is not that handy and depending on the enviroment the 500 mm will defenately be easier to handle in tight surroundings. But there a longer barrel has the advantages are in air consumption and that it will stabilize heavier ammo better.
@@MrPonosify I dont have experience with the Maverick and the 25 cal, so I will not pronounce myself as an expert in any way. But what ammo are u using, and what are your settings?
Apologies if I am mistaken but would a longer barrel not reduce velocity but increase accuracy and a shorter barrel length would increase velocity but decrease accuracy? Roughly speaking, you would assume the velocity of a projectile when leaving the barrel, would be the total energy coming into the barrel from the cylinder or regulator, minus the energy lost through friction and thermo dynamics of pushing the pellet through the barrel.. so, longer barrel means greater friction and energy loss while pellet is pushed over a longer barrel length, but the increase in stabilisation dynamics means more accuracy and the opposite would be true for shorter barrels, less energy loss from friction over shorter distance and more energy on the pellet resulting in higher exiting velocity, but lower stabilisation and accuracy.. I suspect that although you used two identical rifle models, the rifle fitted with the longer 600mm barrel had a slightly higher output rating on its regulator which was the reason for the 46 fps gain over the 500mm barrel as it would be almost impossible to ensure that two seperate regulators are manually tuned to identical output ratings to accurately compare velocity figures attributable to the barrel lengths as only factor.. In order to accurately test impacts to velocity from 500 to 600mm barrels, I would suggest you perform the test using the same rifle while swapping the barrels after each shot and then analyse the average ratings for shots from each barrel to nullify any differences from using two seperate regulators and rifle setups..
Thanks for your comment and your analysis 🙂 First I want to clearify that we only used the Mk2 for the testing of the two liners. You can watch the video again and you will see. As for your question the barrel is where the ammonition gains velocity. It does so through the entire length of the barrel, so using a longer barrel gives the slug a longer distance to pick up speed. You can compare it to a dragster trying to reach the maximum speed in 201 m and the exact same car on a 402 m. Same car (gun) same power (reg presure) 🙂

Can .177 slugs take deer and hogs
With a head shot it might be possible, but I would never attempt it.
Without having any experience with hunting my guess is that it would take at least a 30 cal to ensure the shot to be as humane as possible.
There are lots of videos here on RUclips, so my advise is to seek more information.
Best regards and thanks for watching
