Lyrics
And did those feet in ancient times
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem built here
Among those dark Satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! Oh clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire
I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land - Видеоклипы
How does music by someone like Nicki Minaj get into the charts but something so beautiful and as talented as this is unheard of?
This world is backwards.
Exactly, please keep using Nicki as a symbol for the nadir of art until it becomes an official stereotype/meme.
@Twiggy what? You've never heard of Nicki Minaj?

Because Western society and culture are going down the loo
There lies the very problem. All is backwards. Right is wrong; that men determine their own destinies. That light is darkness. It goes on and on.
I leave my England soon,
I have to,
But I will take my England with me 2021
It will follow..
And i
Greetings from Germany - i just played this to my Haribo Goldbären - they turned into English winegums!
😆 my dad used to always being back 'gold bears' from his trip to Germany. Winegums are a bit French tho...maybe some good old Wether's Originals or Bassets Allsorte next time?
Also out of interest do you know what are the German orange and lemon hard boiled sweets with a liquid centre?
Prost!! ❤❤

Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP)
What a beautiful and wonderful scene.
People who heard her sing here had a great night.
Lord, thank you for the gift of music
Amen
Such a beautiful voice! A Heavenly gift!!!❤❤❤
Beautifully sung...... and for England, and English people, who are under threat at this time.
Who is beloved like Charlotte Church Globally precious to England I'm Brother Samuel Elliott birtdate 9 17 60 you are beloved Mrs. Charlotte Church
She has a gorgeous voice and this is one of my favorite hymns of all time. I do have a gripe and it's not with Ms. Church but who set up the tempo of the music played.... I think it's a touch too quick. (My opinion.) Still is gorgeous..
P.S. If you like this, then you should also go see Ms. Church sing Men of Harlech. She brings beauty to that song.
I also found it rather fast
I agree with you about the tempo 🎶
Agree with you, it was rushed, if slowed and cooled, it would have been even more beautiful.
Agreed. Her voice is exquisite, but too rushed a version.
Not only a great voice, she has grown up into a beautiful woman.
I first heard this song sang by Charlotte more than 20 years ago. And I heard the instrumental version of it played during Prince Philip's funeral last weekend. A very beautiful and spiritual hymn.
What an angelic voice!
One of her albums was...The Voice of an Angel
How could a voice so amazing for opera like this one did not keep the classical way?
SOME Lose opera voice...great past singing....and now here an add for death of a son...we need to raise children not to be involved with drugs...take away good peoples guns..and we have a lawless society with adds for no guns. the need is amazing grace, not politics and more disgrace. thanks i am a Jew come to Jesus
Voice of an angel 😇
BEAUTIFUL VOICE
Not a fan of Charlotte Church at all (though that may have a lot to do with her publicity offstage). But that doesn't take away from her beautiful rendition of this classic hymn! A wonderful performance!
Based. UK National Anthem ❤❤❤
Шарлотка черч такая красавица что глаз не оторвать

Excellent.
Happy Palm Sunday... God bless!
Simply Angelic
Absolutely beautiful!
WOW!
When I am buying stocks in America, I am humming this song.
Tremendous rendition!
Thank you for this beautiful video by one of the world's greatest young singers ~ Charlotte Church
Beautiful ❤️
Poem was by William Blake who is against industrial revolution.
He should have said satanic bankers instead of satanic mills.
Ela é maravilhosa.
Шарлотка черч поющая иконка богиня очарование
Always nice to see someone Welsh singing England’s anthem! Bet she hated every second
Шарлотка черч самая красивая очаровательная обаятельная певица Орфей
Wow!!!!!!!!!
"And _was_ the countenance divine _shine forth_ upon . . ." -- so cute! :-)
As an Oriental person myself, I have to say that it feels strange and beautiful to hear Europeans sing praises in their own language to the God of my ancestors. I don't know how to precisely put it, but I bet Europeans would feel the same if they saw us following their costumes and traditions. It's such an honorable and beautiful thing to feel mutually.
❤
Actually she is Welsh but I agree with the universal sentiment of the previous comment.

♥️
Where did this song come from? I shall nor cease the endless fight, nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
also, the melody come from Gustav Holst's "Jupiter, the bringer of jollity"
@@rafael68165 You confused this with Vow to Thee My country, that's the hymn that uses Holst
@Savage Cabbage Greetings from Canada. God Save the Queen is our Royal anthem. We have a French version too.
It speaks of the spiritual battle. The Bible says in Ephesians we fight darkness and spiritual wickedness with the sword of the Spirit. This is the Word of God.
[It's "my mental fight", not "the endless". Though that works too!]
Words: William Blake in 1804 (printed 1808).
(The "dark satanic mills" may have in fact referred to the universities, not the literal mills of the industrial revolution.)
Music: Sir Hubert Parry (1848-1918) 1916; orchstrated Elgar 1922.
Those Welsh singers have some baps
God Save the King Dei Gratia Rex Fidelus Defensor
Couldn’t do this in Jerusalem now 😂😂😂
Tempo is too fast.
I thought that too
A stunning composition from Sir Hubert Parry, orchestration by Britains great composer Sir William Elgar and William Blakes apocryphal poem about the enslavement of the masses by the industrial revolution and more speciffically Boulton and Watts Albion Four mill in Southwark, make this one of the great musucal pieces of all time IMO.
Just stunning!
Interestingly the Bishop of London N T Wright in 2007 acknowledged that the "dark satanic mills" referred to the "great churches" .
The non Conformists believed that the demand absolute for conformity, maintenance of the class system and a rigid social order. by the church was church doctrine.
Some things have changed very little and the conservative Christian churches still appear to weild so much power in the UK and other nations including the USA.
What utter left wing clap-trap. Full stop
Sir William Elgar? I think his name was Edward ...
rushed phrasing

And since the Dalai Lama visited England, the holy lama god has been seen0
Charlotte Church stands for a free Palestine 🇵🇸
It's a shame that it's like this 😔
Great to hear her singing the Brexit anthem! (Albeit not very well)
Fergus sang it better in a Catherine Tate sketch...
Well you may have not got Jerusalem but you got Islamabad.
The girl has a good voice, but it's quite untrained, I'm surprised she was put to solo against a full orchestra. I mean, not comparatively untrained for a child of her age, she looks to be a teenager, I just can't fathom putting a teenager before an orchestra and making both parties look foolish.
This is obscene.
The lyrics are the embodiment of appropriation, an attempt to relocate Jerusalem to "England's green and pleasant land", which has never been terribly pleasant for Jews.
There is nothing "green and pleasant" about the real Jerusalem, and nothing in it that's even remotely English.
Whilst fully understanding your point, life, history our rather humanity can get clumsy & complicated. I take joy in this song, not this version quite, however, we must simply find meaning through poetic licence to say the same things.
It is based on a story that Jesus (a jew) as a 13 year old boy visited Cornwall to buy tin from the Cornish Tin miners. Cornwall is in the South West, the bit of Britain that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean
There’s nothing appropriating about English people singing about Christianity, a religion they’ve practiced for more than a thousand years.
