Ringo being born at an early age is one of the best jokes I've ever heard.
It's an oldie but a goodie
Love that song ❤️
Even worse, as an early-born he came to England without a shirt on his back and couldn't speak the language. These were tremendous disadvantages anywhere at that time, but especially in Liverpool, where discrimination against the early-born was so great that they were not allowed to hold jobs, drive a car, drink alcohol, or even vote.
Yeah, and he was born in Liverpool, because he wanted to be near his mother when it happened.
I immediately thought of George singing “I was so young when I was born”
Ringo Starr should have gotten in waaay before 2015. Paul is always so down to earth and just a class act.
Paul made sure that Ringo was inducted
ehhhh... why is ringo being inducted?? The beatles are already inducted. Ringo's solo career was so significant that he needs to have his own place in the hall? His 2 top 40 songs?? LOL. Denny Laine made an interesting point about Wings... something along the lines of; Wings was a McCartney project. Was never a band, and therefor shouldn't be inducted into to hall separately from Paul. Makes sense. And I also don't think Ringo Starr deserves his own spot separate from the beatles.
All the other three Beatles were also inducted as performers, but Ringo was inducted as what used to be called the sideman’s award. So he’s being honored as an influential drummer, not for his solo career.
Ringo doesnt need the RnRHOF, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame needs Ringo!
celebtrvl see? Paul isn't a good guy. He's a great guy.
People like to make fun of Ringo left and right with fake quotes from John and comparison to the other Beatles, but here's an undeniable fact.
In the beginning, Ringo INTIMIDATED the rest of the guys. He wasn't a starry eyed little boy that the lads gave a chance out of pity. Ringo's demeanor, personality and expertise as a song drummer was already making him the most renowned member in the group for a time.
Ringo is the pinnacle of an efficient, reliable drummer. He shows up, gives the song the exact rhythmic hook it needs and doesn't overstate himself. A drummer is the heart of the band and Ringo was the heart of the Beatles.
Ringo joined the band wearing a full beard and messy hair and smoked all the time. The rest of the band was afraid of him at first until he shaved the beard, wore the mop top, and showed his friendly personality. And his epic drumming too of course.
Totally agree.
They ASKED him to join the band, not the other way around. That says enough.
Tombocartoons PREACH 👏 People should read John's last interview for Playboy : he clearly express his respect and admiration for nobody except Ringo. In this interview John clearly said that he didn't care about Paul's or George's solo careers but for Ringo it's different: he wanted his talent to be fairly exploited and felt involved in his career since he wrote several songs for Ringo before his death ❤️ I don't know what people need more
That's why he fit The Beatles so well. The band as a whole was so incredibly efficient with EVERYTHING, from their vocals to their songwriting to their instrumentation. George's guitar parts were very efficient, as were McCartney's bass lines. Ringo really was a perfect fit.

John, Paul and George were incredible talents but at times they could be petty and hurtful to one another. Ringo has always struck me as the most loving and understand of the four.
Yup. The rest were fighting egos
Ringo was the glue in the band. He wanted them to remain together, the most, as he most enjoyed the camaraderie. But, in the end, it wasn't enough
Probably because he was on the most drugs lol
ephiebearTV, any supposed pretence was a natural offshoot of parts of their talent combined with being Liverpudlian baby boomers, confident in a new age that partly lionised the north. The three songwriters never spoke in detail about their intellectual process. You've maybe filled in the blanks to make clever Liverpudlians equal pretentious. Maybe you'd like to chuck away Maxwell's Silver Hammer or Tomorrow Never Knows for having some supposedly pretentious lyrics. Whacking a drum with a stick and only writing 1 song isn't conductive to being pretentious in the company of the other three.
Wayne J actually, didn’t Paul want them to stay together the most? Ringo actually got fed up and left temporarily.
One thing for sure, when you listen to their studio work Ringo never seems to screw up. Solid every time. And most important - he was intuitive. Back in my band days, a drummer that could predict the direction of a song or take eye cues was gold. Ringo is gold.
That's what so many people who slag on Ringo seem to miss. They guy was a human metronome. Sure he wasn't flashy or ridiculously fast - he didn't need to be! He gave every song exactly what it needed. He did with a 3-piece drum set (plus cymbals) what some drummers fail to do with so much more. I can't compare him to my idol Neil Peart - at least not in technical sense - but I will argue vehemently with anyone that Ringo was (is) and excellent drummer!!
Ringo never played on early Beatles albums. Paul made a joke of him this time.
Darren Helmond
Hi Darren,
It's very common for professional drummers to be 'human metronomes'. The idea that drummers can't keep steady time really only applies to unprofessional/unrehearsed drummers.
Ringo's not as steady as you might think. For example, listen to the first 30 seconds of, say, 'Dizzy Miss Lizzy', then the last 30 seconds. But that's OK... that's what humans do.
Still, my point is that Ringo is a competent drummer, and a very likeable fellow, but revered only because of his association with the Beatles.
@@EltonoutoftheclosetOfficial you're kind of a prick

Hi Elton,
If you don’t think Ringo is an amazing drummer, you obviously have no musical knowledge, and you should shut your trap about things you know nothing about :)
The only people who slag on Ringo are people who have no knowledge on music, and you obviously have no taste if you think Ringo is only “competent”.
Paul can say something, then repeat it louder after saying “yeah” and make the crowd go wild. He’s a superhero.

yeah they had garbage Pete Best and knew Ringo was the missing link
@@darwinblinks Uh Pete Best wasn't garbage
Ujjwal Kumar Jha what are you talking about? Pete Best was horrible. When the beatles were recording as backing musicians for Tony Sheridan in 1961, there’s a famous story about how they literally had to take away his kick drum because his timing was so awful. By the end of Pete’s career with the beatles, they just kept him in the band because his mother, Mona, kept their money in check for them. Once they found Ringo, they immediately wanted Pete out. He wasn’t a good fit for the band, even refusing to get the classic beatle mop top haircut. Once Ringo joined, thats when they really became phenomenal and took off as a band.
@@ianbalish3852 He wasn't versatile and brought the same fill to pretty much everything. Obviosuly he doesn't hold a candle to Ringo, but if that automatically makes a drummer garbage then I have some news for you
Ujjwal Kumar Jha what good drummer “brings the same fill to pretty much everything”? I mean you’ve basically said yourself why Pete was awful... he couldn’t even keep time. Beatles hated his drumming. They just needed SOMEONE to be their drummer so that they could get the gig to Hamburg.

Richard got some drums and Ringo was born
Ringo is the most underrated musician in history. I love him so much.
The peace and love one can see (and feel) coming out of Ringo, in Peter Jackson's documentary 'Get Back', is quite amazing. And 'they say' George was the 'spiritual one'.
Ringo didn't like India and all the stuff around it, but I can say (having lived in India for 5 years and), being on the path of Yog, as a student for thirty years, and a teacher/facilitator for twenty, Ringo is quite 'the spiritual one'. Other thing I love about The Beatles, and got the understanding a couple of decades ago, is why they were so easily connected to 'the masses'. Well, it turns out that all four of them are born on a Mayan Calendar 'portal day'. There are some 'portal days' on that calendar each year, but I don't think there are so many 'groups' where all members are born on such a day....
I love him, too!

Ringo with his minimalistic drum kit set up is one of the best drummers ever so effortlessly efficient
Anyone who questions Ringo's historical significance in the world of drumming needs to listen to Paperback Writer and Rain. He revolutionized the drums with those two songs. It was a complete break from anything remotely resembling the "Mersey Beat" and drove the band and rock in general into the direction of what we now call classic rock and hard rock. Even Lars Ulrich from Metallica points to those songs as huge influences on him. Ringo was not simply a happy go lucky guy keeping 4/4 time for the two greatest songwriters of all time. He was a very innovative drummer in his own right.
With all that said, why did it take so long for this event to happen?
Not to forget his drums in 'She Said She Said'!
@@patrickstar8504 and the fills in A Day in the Life.
Agree ! What is also worth mentioning is that Ringo developed into a very good song writer after The Beatle broke up ! Also, until The Beatles turned up, I believe there was not too many drummers who would be used as a lead singer ! Ringo's profile encouraged many drummers to be lead vocalist in different bands, eg The Eagles etc

Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best are also Beatles. OK, if they'd decided to change the band's name when Ringo joined (like The Small Faces turning in to The Faces), I might not be concentrating on that but they didn't. Pete Best most famously was the drummer on Love Me Do. Since the 'Fab Four' became former Beatles in 1970, they join Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best in being former members of The Beatles.
