      you didnt put measurements for your T shaped design

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  Год назад

      Its the same length as 22x6 but to the side, if you stretch that longer it breaks. Usually when doing t shape its also a bit shorter due to terrain that it could be. @@sirki2885

    Just started up Augustus recently and holy cow! What an improvement!
    Thanks for this video, I've gone onto older forums and I've been trying the 9x9, "4 G block" cities and other layouts. Even on very easy it just hasnt been stacking up to what I wanted it to be.
    Think I might have to try this layout next, awesome efficiency here. Thanks again!
    Edit: I tried this the other day and was able to maintain a very happy city with 10K+ people, which I've never been able to do before. Reaching new heights! Thank you!
    Also, I can't spell apparently.

    Thank you for the video! Very helpful! i have one question. How are 2 fountains enough for the 22x6 block? I tried placing them in the same spots you did but water coverage doesn't reach one row of tiles on each side and 2 in the middle. Am i missing something? Thanks!

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey, on central and northern climates its 3 fountains per 22x6 block. On desert its 6.
      Fountains dont matter though, its 4 workers which is not even close to if you had to build other services so obsessing about fountains or their range is pointless.

    A reservoir has a reach of 10 from each of its sides (total coverage, therefore, is 23 X 23). Considering where the fountains are, it could be 1 tile further away from the housing.

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  6 месяцев назад

      Yes the reservoir placement can be further, it has negative des. But thats not usually a big bother, main thing to understand is length and width of the block to use looping roaming walkers.

    What about low desirability of granary and markets? I tend to put temple or bath right next to it to counter. But maybe it's not necessary...

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  Год назад

      That can be solved by putting lararia where 1x1 spaces are. If there is plaza or starues enables it usually dosent matter.

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel

      We all have it on steam or GOG but the game is usually played using Julius mod for vanilla experince with bug fixes and widescreen support or Augustus mod which is an overhaul.

    Would 18x8 or 16x10 be as efficient as 22x6? I like the extra room inside for large statues, ponds etc :D

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  Год назад +2

      Hey, if you have more than 2 tiles of decoration space in the middle it will always be sacrificing population density for one set of possible services. Using absolute maximum efficiency is not always needed so you might want to develop something that still retains as much as possible but allows some 3x3 in the middle.

      No problem, note that this is pretty much my first video on YT so its pretty basic this one explains the details even better i think if you wanted to see a comparison to 9x9:
      ruclips.net/video/7mz0pOrjm_I/видео.html
      There are many more like the "advanced city layouts" for how to chain blocks into "supply hubs" if you want.

    Oh! Also, with the 24x8, is there water coverage in the middle? I'm trying things out, & it seems like I've got a gap in water coverage?

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  9 месяцев назад +1

      Water is handled by fountains in the middle if its Central or northern the middle fountains will also reach one of the sides which you can fill with houses. For 22x6 (24x8 with roads) 3 fountains are enough. On desert just add more. Fountains only make for a tiny fraction of services workers for a block. You end up with 3x as many people as 9x9 is. And just 1 set of services.

    Hey! Super useful, but placing houses in that way, in my case doesn't block the single-tent setup (basically they don't merge anyway). Any idea on the reason why? :) Thanks!

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  Год назад

      Hello, glad it was usefull. If your houses are not merging that depends on if you use Augustus mod, you can use setting - all houses merge. The houses plots must be placed max 2 tiles from road but when there are 4 near each other, after 3 1x1 arrive they become one 2x2 house on any spot that has the last 1x1 of that square of 2x2 housing plots. If you dont use Augustus or dont use the setting, mergers depend entirely on what map generates as "merger points" i have covered it before and had a link but i dont remember where. The map patterns can be momorized to know what are "merger points" but its a lot of effort and is generally considered an annyoying mechanic.

    what about desert? same, but with more fountains?

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  Год назад +1

      Desert design is exactly the same, just has to have more fountains. Even with extra fountains you are still much better off considering workers than if you had to build extra school, theather, markets, temple etc.

      @@commissarmarek-main-channel ... so in Desert Fountains are different?

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  Год назад

      Yes in a desert you use around 6 fountains for 22x6 block but the design is the same. Fountains use 4 workers each but 22x6 gives you tripple to pop space than 9x9s. Your biggest labor costs for blocks are services like theaters schoold etc not fountains. Its a wil misconception that is very dumb. @@Fielion
