“Aren’t we lucky to be here.” I love your grandfather’s words and they are similar to what I say to myself in bed each night living in a very beautiful place and watching the sunlight fade over the sea (but in an old house needing so much work and with various family members pro and con on keeping it!) I so look forward to watching what you do with your project.
Oh, this is wonderful. Provence is incredibly beautiful. I am so excited to see the unfolding of your house renovation. My spirits were instantly lifted to watch this. Just what we need in dark times. Thank you, Justine!
Hi Justine, I have moved to Provence 3 months ago after 12 years spent in Paris. My husband and I are so happy of this change ! We live in an old typical house (rental) which is very beautiful. So fun to know that we are neighbours ☺️ I recommend you to visit Simiane-La-Rotonde and its castle if you haven't already. It's an amazing "village perché".
Thank you, Justine! I thoroughly enjoy your vlogs. Provence is so beautiful. I LOVE your grandfather's life philosophy . . . "Take a deep breath and have a look around saying, 'Aren't we lucky to be here!" Yes! Be well. 💕
I’m a self devoted Francophile and I vicariously live through your videos. I absolutely love France and would love to relocate there at some point of my life, not just to visit for vacation. merci bien 😌
Living in U. S., it is a deep pleasure to see your beautiful masterpieces of historic architecture and décor in France. Thank you. Looking forward to your own design for your home restoration.
Provence does indeed look beautiful, I'm resolved to work my way, with my family, next year to many areas of France we have not yet discovered. We are very blessed, and aware how much that's true, to live in Southern France. Even the drive to the Supermarket is a joy as it's a stunning place ,full of history , flowers, peace and lovely people.I will never tire of it. Thank you, Justine for this wonderful blog. My heart lifted when I saw it, and I'm so looking forward, and excited, to see your dreams flourish in your new home. Best Wishes, you look so much happier in France x
This is the kind of travel video we don't get from typical travel channels! It's so personal, pretty n slow paced, no hyped music plus drone shots. Beautiful.
My dear Justine! I can imagine as a French person returning home and as a designer this home renovation must be so exciting AND overwhelming at times. I love how you look at the period and come up with your own ideas adapted to create aesthetically pleasing and good fit for you. Provence is a lovely part of France.
This house suits you so well and I cannot wait to see how you're going to renovate and make it yours. I love that you're showing your creative process and behind the scenes. So so beautiful and thank you for taking us with you 💜 Always inspired to create after watching you.
I can’t say it enough but I’m so happy for you bc your soul is! You’re in the right place for what you need and crave. I’m definitely putting Provence on my list to visit! 😊 and those impressions were very Pinterest-like 😍. We need more like your grandfather in this world: grateful heart
I just felt like I was there. When you showed the creek my first thouh5was to take off my shoes and put my feet right in the running water. What a lovely place and I am so lucky that you shared your moments with us. TFS Justine.
I love the paintings on the beams. Provence is so beautiful, and I was fortunate enough to visit there back in 2006. Plus the flowers growing up the homes. So nice and peaceful there. The stone work and lavender shutters are the best. Thanks for taking me there again.
Just wow!!! I couldn't love this video more! ♥️ I love your Grandfather's quote "aren't we lucky to be here"! I am going to implement that saying into my life and try to spread some gratitude wherever I go!
Justine I am so happy for you. Congratulations on the house and the move. I have to say that the light in Provence suits you, you seem so relaxed and happy. Just beautiful.
Your grandfather reminds me of my Azorean grandmother. She was always so wise; and so grateful- never a bitter moment- despite having raised two children during the Great Depression. For the rest of her life she was nothing but grateful for whatever she had.
I have been following you for a couple of years now. I usually don’t comment on videos. However, I wanted to tell you that I enjoy your videos so much! I love your uniqueness. Thank you for bringing us along on your Provence journey.
This was so beautiful to see! I agree, you are lucky to be there Justine. Thank you for taking us along with you. Wishing you the best with your renovation! Can't wait to see what's to come! :)
Oh, Justine, in this little eight-minute video, you have convinced me that I must visit Provence before I die! ( I don't intend that to be overtly maudlin, so sorry!) Thank you so much for taking us along with you!
Interesting that the past few days I've been viewing French real estate videos non stop. The quaint small 1 bedroom houses catch my eye as much as the enormous chateaux (sorry for the bad spelling if i got it wrong)... largest being 2500 meter square! Beautiful intentional decor. Many thanks for sharing your searches for inspiration.
Oh my, my heart did a little leap and traveled back a little over 50 years. I was chosen to do my college junior year in Aux en Provence. It was a dream that just didn’t happen for a few reasons. It looks absolutely charming! Hope to one day travel there. Good luck with the renovation of your house. Can’t wait to see it!
I enjoyed your fashion instruction, when I was planning my trip to Paris this past May. But my first love is architecture (houses, really). Please continue these videos. I really look forward to these as well as fashion insights. While you are younger than I, you have had many experiences I haven't, and I need your wisdom. I admire your brave soul.
I’m visiting the area round Grignan soon but my favourite village is not Grignan but the more down to earth Taulignan nearby where there is a silk museum. Lots of great renovation there. This lovely video is setting the mood.
Thank you for taking me along with you. Provence is gorgeous. can't wait for you to start renovating . We are definitely lucky to be here. Wherever we are.
LOOOOOOVE today's video Justine! My one and only trip to France took me to Provence eight years ago now but on that one trip I lost my heart entirely to Provence
Merci, Justine! Wonderful tour of the villages and castles, & I can see many elements of those working perfectly in your new home. I like your focus on how the buildings & architectural features were actually used, lived in, and how architectural design evolved from the Medieval period to the Renaissance. Those castles are at once grand & practical, & I find the fact that they've endured down all the ages somehow comforting. Hope you're staying as cool as possible during this oppressive heat.
Thank you so much for the lovely tour of the villages---they are so lovely! It's so fun to see you in your new home. I'm loving watching your renovation ideas and exploration. Thanks for all your awesome videos. They are always so wonderful. Hoping it's cooled off some there. And yes, "We are lucky to be here." Thanks so much for that great reminder!
I needed the last part. I'm moving to an old Romanian peasant house in the countryside and I'm very anxious about the whole situation. Still I'm lucky to be where I am, to move to a place that might be better for me. Also Provence is straight out of a fairytale!
Such pretty and peaceful villages💚 The yellow flowering plant is called "broom" in English , and it is responsible for the name of the 🧹 The scent is so beautiful
Your grandfather was a wise man. I'm enjoying your grand adventure so much and I grateful that you're taking the time to share with us...it's a treat!! (104° @ my house in TX 🥵
Kitchens are my favourite part of castles and manor houses too! (I guess I like to know how they 'got things done' in years gone by.) I missed going back to Provence for my birthday two years ago because of you-know-what, so I am really enjoying this series with both nostalgia and anticipation. Bon chance avec vos rénovations!
Justine, your grandfather certainly was wise when he reminded everyone to think about how lucky they are. Having gratitude for even the simplest things in life is a true gift. And it's so true that this delightful attitude is invariably "catchy". It's also a very Buddhist way of thinking & of experiencing life. Loving your videos about your move to Provence & looking forward to more renos. 😆💕
I absolutely love these house renovation vlogs. Thank you so very much for sharing your travels and renovation with us! My family lived in the little town of Istres for one and half years... 20 years ago. We treasure the memories of Provence! I look forward to seeing your beautiful house undergo the restoration/renovation. Can you also include a garden tour in the future?
Justine, what a beautiful video! I’ve enjoyed your channel for several years but your ability to come up with something new and unexpected bowls me over. One tiny request: could you put the names of the villages either in, or underneath the videos? While I do speak French (more or less, it’s been fifty years!) I wasn’t able to catch the names of the smaller villages you showed. You are so right about reminding oneself how lucky one is to live in a special place. I grew up in a wonderful old house in Westchester, NY, and frequently reminded myself how lucky I was. My mom called it her Camelot. She never really recovered from having to move away. Your new home looks just as lovely. Thank you for sharing your plans with us.
Hello Justine. You have made my day with this video. It started so bad but then I watched your video and felt such wonderful things and was happy for you ,having so much fun with your house that will look absolutely wonderful, I'm sure. Also I love anything ancient or vintage so to see the true Provence was a big treat for me. Thank you. And good luck Justine. Always have fun with your projects. Don't worry you will make it look amazing, you are very intelligent. God bless! Ana from Croatia
It is beautiful there! I hope you won’t change those traditional architecture elements. It will be lovely to see what you do with your home as you are so talented.🌸And I loved taking a walk with you. All the little fountains and then surprise, a creek! Joyful
I LOVE your new series of videos! How enchanting! It allows me to be inspired and enjoy your countryside. I get to be enthusiastic with you. Please continue this series as long as possible. It's just wonderful!
Everything about Provence is so incredibly picturesque. I couldn't agree more with your grandfather's sentiments. I just love what you're showing us, and I hope to see more of your beautiful corner of the world!
In 2009, I spent 10 days near to Montelimar. I stayed in a gite, converted from a 300 year old silk farm, close to he village Sauzet , on Chemin Les Eclozeaux, which was converted sympathetically. The people were all so friendly, I met many locals . The Scented Garden in Montelimar is wonderful and so were the villages, Dieulefit, St Montan and Allan.
Oh Justine, c’est merveilleux ! Coming back home... and to Provence... ! What a nice project you have there, enjoy every minute of it ! Love watching you from (French) Canada ! 😘
I love these videos. Keep them coming. I converted a small barn to a 2 bedroom cottage in the LOT several years ago. A much smaller project but exciting none the less.
Wow! I LOVED this video! I enjoyed this glimpse of your travels and loved seeing the towns and housing styles like the tiles and unfinished walls. Looking forward to your next video! You really are in a beautiful area! :)
Merci beaucoup Justine!! Provence is amazing! I've been there and there's beauty wherever you look... et aussi beaucoup encore à découvrir! Look forward to next video and petits villages 😊 All the best from Italy
Thanks for sharing. The scenic Provence, an everyone's dream. True indeed, you are one lucky to live there. Please continue to share your renovation journey. Take care too.
I live in Guatemala in a Spanish colonial town in retirment. I toured southern Spain several times to see Mudejar design to incorporate into my renovation here... one of the most joyous few years of my life and something I always wanted to do...yes, so lucky to be here as well.. ENJOY yourself!
It is so calming and inspiring to see the footage with the architecture and nature. I was almost das when it ended 😌 watching the video my inner vacation mode started 😊 and next week I'm finally heading to Normandie 😎
"Aren't we lucky to be here?". Love this so much. And you're right. One person in the group saying this is sometimes enough to inspire the others to stop for a moment and take in their surroundings and their loved ones for example and appreciate life for a moment and the beauty in the little everyday things. To see things with new eyes. Sometimes it's easy to forget how far we've come and what we've "built". (And ofcourse not everyone is as fortunate or able to say the same right now, but it is true for a lot of people and I think because not everyone is as fortunate it's all the more important to appreciate what one has. Anyway. I'm rambling. Loved this video.)
I'm so happy you landed in Provence as well. 🇫🇷 🌿 It seems you are free and surrounded by beauty and inspiration, despite the challenges ahead. And those roses!!! 🌸🌹
Thank you Justine, the small things that make us happy. That is what important in our life!! Your grandfather was right!! Love from my family to yours!!
I'm so happy for you that you chose Provence as your city.. it seems gorgeous, especially love the rawness of it all. Delicious! Your house is gonna look so good! 🥰
Really, really enjoyed this, as a former architecture major, and thwarted interior designer; this is exactly what I would do if interested in renovating a home. Or even as a pretense, ha! The filming, editing, scoring, and narration of this were perfect and captivating. Good luck with further "fact finding" missions, and thanks for posting!
I love all the beautiful architecture...it's like a time capsule! Can't wait to hear your ideas I know it will be perfect and true to the houses history but in a modern way!! ❤️😍✨️
