A new map of the galaxy by ESA's Planck spacecraft has revealed gigantic loops of magnetism and other structures that point to a magnetic dynamo at work in the Milky Way.

Science is having enormous things to know and study and being searched.

Quite a few unknown unknowns here - I remember when the night sky was just a black sheet with little holes in.

    so basically...
if you make it fine enough, you can use essentially a compass to navigate in space.

Yes, you should ask for them to test your theory by tossing you into space to see if you can come back with a compass.

"...a member of the Planck Science team at the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie, in Toulouse, France"
I don't understand, this video is obviously intended for English audiences--why not just say "the Research Institute for Astrophysics and Planetary Science"?

That's a good question, I speak french so i had no issue with this one but if it were to be a chinese institute I would not have understand anything ^^'

Funny how humans think what they observe and measure is new....hilarious... Re-observed but not new. This knowledge is ancient.

Earth's poles flip every so often. The Sun's poles flip more often than Earth's do. Wouldn't it be safe to assume the Galaxy is going to be the same on a larger scale? You can map the magnetic field of the galaxy & like the Sun's it will change over time.

So when u say a new star and show a huge O around it instead of the 8 everything u show has,I have to say why is a new star so different?

Big bang maybe a joke.think about it! If galaxy never ends then big bangs have to be not 1 but like 10000000000000000000000000000000000 times and shooting like with machine gun and never ending! Maybe there was no big bang at all!
