  • A person's home garden tends to become a sentimental space over time. That holds true for our host Annette Shrader. Her garden beds feature treasured plants given and shared by family and friends. We'll tour well-established beds, plus a spot that's getting re-imagined.

God bless you Annette. I am a Houston gardener and have learned so much from watching your videos and all the others from the Volunteer Garden channel.
My 92 year old grandmother died in 2020 and had gardened in her East Texas home for most of her life. She was poor and from the depression, so she was a collector of plants and the memories of those who blessed her with them.
When she passed, I dug up more than 3,000 bulbs and rhizomes, several spirea, hydrangeas, and, roses. My grandmother's garden had been neglected for most of my life and this channel helped me so much during that time to successfully uproot it all and bring it back to life at several homes of family members and friends and my own.
I had always been curious about Annette's garden and am so thankful for this tour. She is such a sweet person and I love seeing the pleasure she gets to caretake her passalong plants. It truly is a blessing to be able to experience the joy of perennial flowers that are tied to family and loved ones. Sweet memories.
