Tim Curry played the best Pennywise. He acted like a sleazy, drunken, perverted evil clown, which was perfect for the part. Who can forget his big teeth, that was the best.
I know that some of the interior scenes were filmed at the Buntzen Power Houses. the real building seems creepy enough - not sure why they didn't use that for the exterior shots too! www.atlasobscura.com/places/buntzen-lake-powerhouses
It's LITERALLY the reason I searched for this. And you're not alone. That building, with it's Gothic vibe, and the gas vents protruding from the swamp were the icing on the cake. I know most of the tunnel scenes were filmed under an abandoned lunatic asylum, "not Juniper Hills". 😆 I'm from River Rouge MI, which is the industrial district of Detroit, and looks very similar to this neighborhood, and there's literally hundreds of miles of salt mine tunnels "Morton Co."under the city, so it was not far-fetched that there were dangerous people in there, so this movie just kicked the scary factor up a few. 😆
What a nostalgia trip that's mindblowing how most of It looks the same all these years later. Like many I grew up with this movie and will always hold It dear to my heart so thank you for the great footage
I just restarted it for this project and it wasn't half bad. Less gore than the current versions and pretty entertaining to see actors like Tim Currey and John Ritter!
I agree with you but I am not from you generation but something that the 2017 it had that the 1990 didn’t have was pennywise was the current version is more violent he has that I am crazy aspect but he doesn’t have the scary element the old pennywise did a good job of that when he came on he would make you feel uneasy and creepy out
Do you know why an old movie is better than a new one? Because it has what can be called a soul. When you watch such movies, you can easily imagine yourself there. When you watch new movies, you see emasculated graphics and computer monsters that don't look convincing. I wasэ't born in the 50s in the usa, butin a strange way I like that time in america . I did not live in the 80s in the USA, but when I see movies of that time there is a certain feeling of déjà vu. It's actually hard to explain. But in this I see the magic of cinema.
Couldn't have said it better myself! Even though computer graphics can sometimes look realistic, a part of your brain still knows it doesn't exist. Practical effects may not be as polished, but your brain knows they are real!
Oh wow, how many times did I watch this classic growing up? Must be over a dozen. What a trip! That heritage museum was also "Hollyville" from "Christmas Town", the movie NOT filmed at WEM! (Even though it claims it was on IMDb!)
The 1990 version is super excellent, they can't make movies like they could in the 90s. They shouldn't have bothered to remake , we know all movies today are terrible
That was cool man! there is something about the original that the remake just doesn't have. The kids were more likable, the music was more haunting, and although i like Bill, Tim curry's pennywise will always be pennywise to me. It was a classic growing up.
Holy cow! What an amazing video! I was so obsessed watching this. I wish you visited more of the creek! I love and appreciate this movie now, but I would still find it haunting going to the filming locations as I was so disturbed when I was a kid, but I can tell you I’d be giggling like a school girl at the same time. Gosh the amount of times I’ve seen this film I can quote the whole thing. Great video.
Thanks Tim! The creek was very over grown compared to thirty years go do it was tough to get any good footage :( Glad you enjoyed the video - I had a blast putting it together!

More and more as the cities change the productions that have used them as locations represent a lovely time capsule of how they once looked. Great detective work. It's been so long since the series that it's just like being the characters revisiting home after thirty years.
