Exceptional, I love all of their paying, a great group, they bring something japanese to it too, which I appreciate now for the first time. Great fan of Kato Shinichi too, I can't belive somebody doesn't recognize his inventive contributions.
Two clarinets making a good NOLA sound. The 'dirty' growl on Tamura Makiko's clarinet playing is just soulful. Goto Masahiro is perhaps the more lyrical of the two. Japan here I come, finally.
I have watched and listened to dozens of their videos. Overall , I love this group and its many iterations... I am freaking in love with Tamura and her clarinet, and the most of the rest of the musicians are enjoyable to listen to, but the trumpet playing of Kato Shinichi has always grated on me. I find his playing ragged and often off key. I realize this is jazz, and part of the charm of jazz is individuality and improvisation, but Mr. Shinichi's playing, in my opinion, is sub-par compared to the rest of the group.
Great band, great piano, wonderful New Orleans jazz - and Tamura Makiko is my new favourite! More greetings from Sweden.

I agree the trumpet is not up the quality of the other musicians! Tamura is a fantastic talent!
@@gordonbailey3660 Yes, this is a clarinet song, trumpet does not work here.
