This week we present layout construction, DCC programming and the very Best runby's and still model photos in this show #275.5 special edition. This Video was shot in April 2017 for Model Railroad Hobbyist magazine's You Tube where Ken presents What's Neat in model railroading videos every month.
i love this, the pace of each chapter is great
Thank you Ken for this show. Best wishes from Singapore. I gotta say I love your work and been following you now for many years...but I kinda miss the spirit and lineup of your older shows. I hope you don't take it the wrong way, but I do miss your behind the scenes segments, your photography how-to, the extended drone footage, the interviews done by Michelle Kempama and even the fun footage of your dog licking away the What's Neat icing! I know we gotta pay the bills but I really do tend to skip over some of the segments of the newer shows where sometimes up to half of it are just product showings from manufacturers I do not have much interest in - something I'd never do with your older material. I still wish you all the best and the very best health.
Ken, you should weather some of your locomotives and rolling stock, it would really make your photoshoots pop. You can go from light basic pinwashes to heavy well used grime and even rust( I did this on my UP switcher which looks fantastic)
"Ballast on my food." That explains the gradual increase in GVW of this unit.
Definitely a lot of eye candy this week
Great show!
I like this, mainly because I’ve been wanting to build another garden railway, and the one you had looked wonderful, and so I’m looking forward to more of the big stuff that’s easier for us old timers to work on. Keep up the good work, Ken!
Hi James! Glad to see you having fun. Its great to see the garden railroad worked on.
24:50- It's unlikely we'll ever see the three together again, but sure brought back childhood memories of seeing the three classes, along with a 9000, In Cheyenne, both in the yard and the roundhouse. Thanks for that scene. It is amazing what a difference shooting in actual sunlight makes. Well done!
3985, along with 5511, is being restored by the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America.
Wonderful scenes 🤗👍🏻
What a pleasure to see this what’s neet this month.
Thank you very much! 👍🏻🇨🇭🥳
I have been saying for ages that vaping technology would be fantastic for O scale and larger smoke generation.
Great opening
Great show, Ken!! Love all the details on the layout, especially the rotary phone on the desk. 😮 haven't seen one in years.
Ken, you truly are an amazing photographer, I throughly enjoyed this segment. Ron
OH MY!! It's me!!
All the best Ken with the garden railway! MoPac Jack
Thank you for another brilliant show
Very Cool!!! Well Done Sir!!
Love The MoPac Runby! MoPac Jack
I still have one of your grade crossings on the layout😳
They never mentioned anything about model railroaders who have special needs like me. I am a deaf disabled veteran who still runs DC without sound.
There are many of us running DC still. If it brings you joy. That's what is important. Happy Memorial Day, sir.🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋
Hi Ken & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks & Ken & Friends Randy & Super Cool & Ken & Thanks For What's Neat This Week In Model Railroading Thanks Ken Cool & Friends Randy
Question: would it be possible to build another scale for your outdoor railroad? I’m certain you’d need UV resistant ties.
Olá Ken !!!
No Southern railway only Not Southern.
Ms. Reynolds, I also love the Southern Railway! I grew up with it in Belleville, Illinois My Great Grandfather was a Teletype for the Southern! Mr. Pete Bedwell. 🚂 I never met him! He passed away before i was born! 🙏
I'm just wondering why you don't weather anything that's the best part of the hobby
Oh….James is in the show? This guy and his videos cost me always a lot of money
