2:22 Fun fact, the New Jersey level from THUG is based on the town of Trenton, NJ. The bridge and train station especially look pretty close to their real world equivalents in Trenton.
As a genzier with alot if millennial siblings tony hawk underground on ps2 was the first videogame i ever saw my siblings play that, and a one spy(black) vs spy(white) game on xbox original, bro im getting flashbacks omg
THUG is a good game to get into gaming with! I've never played Spy vs. Spy - Maybe I'll pick up a copy & we'll check it out here on the channel sometime. Thanks for watching!
One of my proudest childhood achievements was beating the Sick/hardest difficulty of THUGs storymode 100%. Looking back I have no idea how I had the patience or skill to have done so but I'm still rather proud of my younger self
On replays, if you press square (I think) during the Eric cutscene at the end, you will knock him out with a sucker punch and leave him bleeding on his car, walking away with the tape and skipping the final mission. That's one time you fix things realistically, with violence instead of playing a children's card game... I mean skate boarding
Neat secret I discovered un umpteen playthroughs of THUG: When you are confronted by Eric over the tape at the end, you get the skate challenge as he waves the tape between the two of you. When you finish the story and fire up a new game, and play through the story again, this scene changes where Eric says "winner takes the tape" and then taps the tape on your chest - to which you respond by punching him in the face and taking the tape in one swift motion, leaving him knocked out on his car. The final skate challenge is skipped and you go right into the lost footage. Each time you complete the story it alternates between giving you the skate challenge and skipping the challenge. :D
Really? I thought you had to push a button to "activate" the alternate ending, like a secret QuickTime cutscene prompt. Then again I do remember it being finicky and not working sometimes as a kid
@@tbush6657 No kidding? Yeah I never had to press anything during the cutscene to get it to happen, it just reliably switched back and forth. I finished the game maybe four times on the PS2 and that was the case for me. I played almost to the end of the PC version but of course never got there.
@@ClydeMachine I always pressed the button every time. I think when I was like 7, I saw my brother press the button when he showed me this and I always did it after that. I also played it on all 3 platforms across my cousins house (my parents had PS2 and I later got Xbox, my cousin had GCN) so between that, getting new memory cards, and getting my own stuff when I got a job, I was always randomly playing "fresh saves" and "replay saves" without keeping track of it
Now that I think about it, I also vaguely remember an on screen blue X prompt on Xbox saying to press it once or twice as a kid, but it wasn't there on my recent playthroughs a few years ago.
You're a stronger person than me for the Moonwalk 5-0. I got pissed as a kid and broke a controller. And then again a few weeks ago. Oh well, needed a reason to buy a new controller
Of course I LOVE THPS Underground ................ HOWEVER Underground: "Hey bud.... can you do this 1 trick 10 times?"...... "Hey bud, collect 15 of this"...... -- GRINDY CHORES -- I prefer a goal like "Find a way into the hidden room" ........ you must be clever, jump and grind around to find some hidden latch, lock, opening etc Thats FUN and you are EXITED TO FIND the new place............ Compare that to --------- "do this lame trick 10 times" ----------(continued below) The goals should DIRECTLY tie in with the Story or the City (Level)........ great opportunities to have Goals involving legendary REAL LIFE skateboarding locations "Find the Secret Tape" ........ There should be 6 Secret tapes per level, each 5 minutes REAL LIFE tapes you can watch, of LEGENDARY moments in Skateboarding history Most pro-skateboarders, even lesser known should have a 5 minute tape......... that you can find in the game Music------------- You start with 40 songs in rotation (epic like the other THPS games) HOWEVER......... You can find hidden tracks (just like secret tapes).......... and they get added to your playlist The tracks you find (look like album icon) should be related to the level also (when possible)......... like Metallica San Francisco......... black sabbath, highway star- deep purple in England etc Day / Night cycles where certain areas become skateable as the security guards leave.................. Also it can RAIN ......... occasional WIND gives you extra speed for secret areas etc The levels.......... They need MORE REAL LIFE stuff going on....... more DETAIL and WAY BIGGER ...... ppl walking their dog...... interesting restaurants, museums, underground tunnels etc A HUGE map that is like GTA but with so many underground tunnels, buildings etc........ it takes literally months if not years to find all the secret rooms/spots You can beat up robbers, even bash them with your skateboard The punch similar to GTA---------- slow so you have to time it......... 1 tap = jab.......... hold and release = strong punch I have more ideas............... but I cant share all because I might end up making my own game or pitching it to a developer
Am I the only person that has a hard time booting up Underground? Not because it's bad because tbh it is one the best games ive ever played but becauae it kinda emotionally shuts me down. The memories rush too hard at me and I have to put it down.
I did that with Halo the other day. Booted it up, heard that menu music, died a little inside from the feeling of good times gone by. I tried to play for a few minutes anyway, but my excitement was gone.
Thanks for watching!
Is Tony Hawk's Underground your favorite Tony Hawk game? If not, what is?!
It's really close between Underground and THPS4. I want a THPS3+4 game so bad
@@teamworm5932 Really wish they didn't cancel it... Would have been awesome.
I blast through THUG1 at least a couple times a year. Pure nostalgia that can be completed with a couple beers in a night if you have the time.
I loved the fact that the dealers that kidnapped Eric were Jay and Silent Bob. 😂
Recently replayed on my roomates ps2. The controller was the hardest part for me being used to the Xbox controller but such a good game
Yeah, coming from an Xbox controller it took me a little while to get used to as well.
Thanks for watching!
This is the best Tony hawk game, at least of the post quadrilogy ones

this is tied with thaw imo. Revered these games
We'll be looking into THAW soon! Thanks for watching!
thaw is just tutorial: the game...,.
I hated thug 2 so it was appreciated here@@catethps

Activision is annoying for not making 3+4 and Underground HD smh

You have to create a skater before you start the story mode if you want your custom skater In that first cut scene.
