- In her new memoir, the award-winning writer and Princeton professor of the humanities jumps farther back in time, chronicling her childhood and adolescence in rural western New York. An avid storyteller even then, Oates credits Alice in Wonderland with inspiring her to find adventures in everything, and she remains true to that spirit, bringing to life family and friends (which include a chicken) and reflecting on hard work.

My favorite author. She’s so brilliant and such a visionary. I love her historical references.
This stuff is so bad man. The culture this writing was born out of is banal and narcissistic beyond belief.
Very entertaining and instructive. The friendly atmosphere participates to this success. A pleasure listening to you. Your novels are great companions to me. Hearty thanks and congratulations.
Beautiful prose, thank you for posting...
The man with blue shirt is sleeping eyes open :))
Hayri Kasap: his date, on his left, is enthralled and he’s trying to be a good sport lol
where are the young readers?
Great observation. 👍🏻
Reading something less quaint and antique I imagine. No fault of the author, but these childhood reminiscences from seemingly the 1950s aren't that compelling to young people.
Let’s hear the stuff you don’t wanna tell!
