- One of the Xbox's long forgotten platformers, Voodoo Vince! He's a voodoo doll out for a voodoo vengeance. (Sorry for the bad lisp in this video, it was the result of a tooth extraction surgery)

Don't worry, I read all 5000 comments about the Xbox controller. I cleaned it immediately after making this video.
That is the last time I do a close up of something without thoroughly cleaning it first.
I thought it being covered in dust was some sort of joke like you hadn't used the Xbox in a while hence needing to get used to it.

(Don't worry, I'm just being silly.)
you that was a joke right Elineer
Nitro Rad it has a remake on Xbox one
Nitro Rad i remember playing it once at a clothing store , while wainting for my parents, i remember watching his start menu trailer repeateadly while Dragostea was playing in the background
Sackboy's slightly less child friendly cousin.
I wouldn't be shocked if Voodoo Vince's design was the inspiration for Sackboy.
I could see him coming to a sackboy family reunion and playing the “weird uncle that the kids inexplicably like” role
Besides the guy from 9.
Lol
@Skaank Huntt w
what
Am I the only one reminded of Psychonauts with the game's humour. colourful and twisted platforming segments and interesting music?
Nope
Psychonauts 2 for the win
I thought the same thing, I looked up the game to see if Tim Schaffer had a hand in it and, no, I don't think he did
Obsessor23 By this time, he was probably at Double Fine already making "Psychonauts". And it actually kind of makes artistic sense for him to not have worked on this. No two IPs that he's created share a style of presentation.
It does remind me of Psychonauts except there’s a bullshit part of psychonauts when you have to platform up from the water I never got passed that part but I only got there like 2 months ago but the one grate part that your dad is throughout fire at you ahhhh
Mario: I jump
Sonic: I run

Not only is this video series extremely cohesive - it also tells the tale of your growing up from an awkward, lisping teenager with braces and a bad shave into a confident, attractive, and collected man. This is something to be proud of!
The lisp was really bad in this video because I was just coming off of an oral surgery
Voodoo Vince was the first Xbox game I had, and it totally blew my mind. I love it and it still is one of my all time favorites. Absolutely underrated
mine too!
same, lost my copy tho. its getting an xbox1/pc remaster soon
=) I'm glad the games finally getting the re-master it deserves but jesus christ if it weren't for this video I never would've known it was even getting one.
Same here, i bought that game ages ago and I still have it. And yeah the jazz its awesome
Fyi the remaster's out on steam, xbox one and windows 10.
Nitro, you da man. Never stop making videos, man.
Nitro, you da man. Never stop making videos. man.
Man, imagine if you had no attack button, and enemies just tried to grab you instead of hitting you, so the *entire point* was looking for ways to hurt yourself in a fight.
Would be a sucky game
@@kozlorogif done right it would be super fun, like Nitro Rad mentioned the better parts of the game are the boss battles where you run around looking for ways to hurt yourself. Just turn enemy encounters into stuff like that, where you're constantly looking around the environment for something to hurt yourself to damage the enemies around you. Just take out the canned animations and replace it with actual gameplay and environment interaction. You could have environmental hazards that work once that maybe have a larger AOE or do more damage, some environmental hazards that reset after some time, some that take some puzzle solving to set up while you avoid enemies and think on the fly. You could even include one time use items hidden throughout the level you have to find that basically imitate the special attack they have in the normal game, or maybe you can purchase them from shops in or at the end of a levels. I think they could even keep the special attack mechanic where you collect orbs to activate it but have a variety of specials you'd have to choose to use that you can switch in and out at certain points. For example you could have one that sets you on fire but actually causes fire damage to enemies, or maybe something for poison damage or freezing enemies, special attacks that have noticeable gameplay effects.
I think you can still have enemies hit you though, I'm not sure what grabbing would do instead. Just make up some bs reason the enemies can hurt you, like they're imbued with zombie dust power too, allowing the damage they inflict not be reflected back.
Not sure what about that sounds boring to you but maybe we have different definitions of fun.

YOU'RE ALREADY MY NEW FAVORITE REVIEWER!
*PLEASE NEVER STOP BEING YOU!*
phil spencer:voodoo vince is my favorite game i have ever been involved with!
*game continues to not be compatible with the XBOX 360*
They tried putting it on the 360, but they found out that in order to do that, they would have to remake the game from scratch, and ain't nobody got time for that.
A remaster was just announced
PROOF
Proof? Just search Voodoo Vince Remaster on google...
its the coding style. the same reason i cant play destroy all humans 2 on it
The original xbox had a lot of hidden gems.
And Crash Twinsanity, unfortunately. Sometimes it slows to a crawl, especially in the Academy of Evil segment.
3 people want Voodoo Vince in Smash Bros.
Definitely one of my favorite games of all time. I played it back when I was a kid and it is a very underrated gem. It's sad to see it just fade without much recognition.
This was my brothers first platformer game he played when he was young, it was funny cause he was like 5/6 at the time and he was scared of some of the monsters he had to fight. However our mom still made him a actual Voodoo Vince doll to make him feel less scared of monsters. I loved the main villain he was such a hoot! This game was definitely one of those little gems that me and my brother loved as kids, so it’s cool seeing you review this fun game. 🥰
when Voodoo Vince is getting a remaster...
early 2017
Feburary
Tawk Sick Oh really?
It's out on April 16th apparently. And it really hasn't recieved much advertising at all.
Sorry my mistake it's the 18th
Ong I thought I was the only one who remembered this game 0.0
I played this game as a kid, I always got stuck at the last part of the carnival (right before the final boss) but I LOVED this game so much, if they made a hd remaster I would buy an Xbox 1 just to play it again
Edit: IM AN IDIOT I JUST REALIZED THEY RELEASED A REMASTER OMG XBOX HERE I COME
@@KingofKMS it's on Steam as well
“Feel his pain” sounds like it comes straight from the pulsating nass.
Or Batman and Robin on the PlayStation
"Oh no, I better not tAmPeR WiTh tHe tApE!"
I saw this video yesterday and today I woke up to find out that Voodoo Vince is actually getting a remaster.
I almost had a heart attack when you said “Conjure something to hurt yourself.” I accidentally watched a few Final Destination clips.
the best part of the game is the soundtrack hands down. one of the most underrated games of all time as well
0:43 what is that logo?!?!?!?!!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
idk
Rejected logo from EA
The EA sweatshop workers
I literally looked up the game recently (I think last week) and thought "huh, this looks like something Nitrorad would review"
played it in 2003 when i was 10, one of my favorites of all time. Im from Louisiana so its cool to see my culture in a game like this. pretty accurate
Thumbnail quality is top-fucking-notch.
I had been avoiding this one for my Xbox collection for a while, despite many people telling me I should pick it up and cover it. However, you sir, have compelled me to give it a go! Excellent review!
I remember this game being one of the reasons why I wanted an Xbox when I was a kid.
Easily one of my favorite games from my childhood. I still own my original copy. Very few games that I've seen or played have had such an infectious charm or interesting premise.
This was one of my favorite childhood games that was seemingly forgotten.
Yknow another one? Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
I sent him a post about Metal Arms on his FaceBook page. He said it looks SICK and he will definitely pick up a copy of it on eBay and do a potential review of it someday. I'm soo hyped for that video. Metal Arms is my 3rd favorite video game of all time. It needs more attention than it already has right now.
could you really call Super Monkey Ball a platformer? I mean, most levels in it are a singular platform.
Omg, I remember that game so frustratingly dearly, in an arcade emulator with my brother.
This, and many other RUclipsrs make me feel so old. I remember watching E3 where Voodoo Vince got announced. I remember paying attention to screens and trailers up to Voodoo Vince's release. I also remember preordering it from GameStop, buying it day 1, and finishing it in the following weeks. And Nitro is too young to even ever heard of Voodoo Vince. :(
My favorite thing about this game is that it takes place in New Orleans, and I'm a local to the area, so the setting in very relatable to me.
my very first original xbox game. they remastered it for xbox one and I'm already halfway through it. the nostalgia is too real
This was my favorite game as a kid. I still replay it from time to time and its held up great
Wow, I didn’t notice before but those braces really make you sound different
Ah, yes, Voodoo Vince. I remember playing that on the OG Xbox. Those were some good times.
I think I found my new JonTron :D
Grandpa Max lol true
Gues who's back, (back, back) back again, jontrons back, (back, back) ECH
@@literallyglados back in the new
Really glad Voodoo Vince was remastered recently. Microsoft even put it on Steam as well to go with the Xbone version
my brother had the demo on his xbox and I remember playing it soooo much, I loved the style it had. glad its getting a remaster.
One of my favorite games of all time. Love it, 100% that game numerous times and never gets old!
I remember this from when i was a kid and yes I always think of this game when i hear similar music.
Hayden Rackley the type of music is called New Orleans Jazz
Thanks for doing this game justice. It was definitely a thrill playing this game when I was younger. I remember the doll boss being my favorite of the enemies even though I got stuck there a good while.
It's also one of the few games that I can remember that uses Louisiana as the setting, specifically the area in and around New Orleans.
Interesting. This is one of those games that I've always seen mentioned in the 3D platformer sphere, but I never really looked into it (mostly because I couldn't get it if I wanted to, not owning an Xbox and all). However, this looks like it'd be right up my alley. It's like a mix between Psychonauts and Rayman 2, two games I love. If I ever get an original Xbox, this'll be one to look out for.
It's one of the main reasons why I want an original Xbox... Maybe I scheme one friends into giving me theirs >:)
Avery Jenson There's an idea. I'll have to contact some of my friends from the early 2000's.
It's on Xbox one
Man I can't believe a game this interesting isn't talked about more! That's sad it's very cool looking. Great video!
This is one of my favorite games. I love the soundtrack too, I always listen to it with anything. It's also been one of the first game I started with on my let's play channel. I love it that much.
I would like to thank Nitro Rad for all his amazing videos. I bet it's his talent that got this game a remaster that released almost a month ago.
There are so many of these platformers that I wanted to play but couldn't. The fact that I can go back and see what I missed with your videos that's so great!
When I was young, my brother bought this for me as a birthday gift, really cool to see it talked about again!
I really like your Videos man ! You work so hard on these and i'm glad to see them.
Keep it up bro c:
You making videos about Vexx Scaler and Voodoo Vince has brought me such a refresh of my childhood, and no other RUclipsr has mad a video on any of these titles. Thank you!
You got me interested in voodo vince when i first watched this video last year and this year i finally bought the hd version on xbox one to play this year. So im back to watch you again for inspiration. Love your reviews.
I loved this game as a kid. No one I knew had ever heard of it though, and i've never seen anyone mention it on the internet. Happy to see you enjoyed it!
The dinosaur professor in this game came before Alphys.
Oh man, I missed your nostalgic game reviews. It makes me kind of sad I missed the run of the original XBOX. Oh well, I can live vicariously through you :). Thanks for introducing me to some old games I never got a chance to play. Your videos are entertaining as hell.
Man, I never had the original Xbox, but my cousins did and they had this game and it was one of my favourite games to play with them when I would go visit! Absolutely an underrated gem!
The soundtrack for this game was amazing.
I've been wanting this game for YEARS (played a demo of it once) and months ago I finally got it, and it's much more difficult than I imagined.
Voodoo Vince and the Blinx games were three of my most favorite platformers to play when I had an original Xbox.
And then this video gets copyright claimed and nobody gets to know this game anymore.
I'm so excited for the remaster now!
I played this game as a kid. It was one of my favorite games had me laughing the whole way through. Finished it a few times. Wish I still had it with my original xbox.
Thank you for reviewing this. I remember playing the demo for it in Wal-mart when I was a kid and always wondered what it was like in full, glad to hear it was pretty decent. Great review/video as well, I like how you mentioned the instruction booklet, such an underrated, overlooked aspect. I remember as a kid always looking at the ones we owned and I occasionally still do even to this day.
NitroRad has to be one of the most underrated YT video game reviewers I know of. This guy has the potential to become so much. Enjoying every one of your reviews. Always enjoy reviewers talking about obscure stuff. Very clean commentary without trying to be so hard to sound funny or exaggerating. ++++++++++++++++++++1
i remember first hearing about this game on G4, and them talking about how he 'Knows he's in a game'.
...........I miss G4.
Nitro man so happy you enjoyed this one , your channel is the only one I know that gives the time of day to these under appreciated platformers from my childhood . Keep up the voodoo babee!
I love you Nitro, I love this review. But CLEAN YOUR CONTROLLER FRIEND! Or at least before you do any close ups of it. Keep it up dude.
I was going to comment on that too. It was pretty gross to look at
If the voodoo was taken full advantage of then people would be complaining that the game is too easy. You would just light yourself on fire and then run around until you figure out any puzzles in the level while enemy's drop dead all around you. I would argue that reserving the voodoo for a special move or for boss fights was utilizing the voodoo perfectly. The game demonstrates the voodoo power in the beginning of the game perhaps as a hint for the rest of the game. Which is also perfect. A hint at the beginning as opposed to a hint at the end of the game for how the entire game is supposed to be played.
voodo vince was my favourite game as a kid. i shouldn't have been playing it since it was rated T but my mom bought it without realizing what the 'T' stood for. so at age 7/8 i was playing a pretty morbid game but i could only get to the graveyard level before giving up. even then my dad would watch my sibling and i play it cause of how good the soundtrack was. but seriously this is still a game i remember in great detail bc of how fun it was to play as a kid.
Voodoo Vince, Metal Arms, and Spy vs Spy were my favorite games when I was a kid. I played them non stop
The game does specify that the only things that can hurt Vince are creatures and items that are effected by the Zombie Dust.
Doesn't say that about water
That's fair enough.
Zombie water?
I don't think the water kills him, he just sinks and cant get out. The bottomless Pits are the same, but they kill him because they were caused by the voodoo dust.
this was my favorite game when I was younger, and I TOTALLY agree with ya. The soundtrack is awesome
THE REMASTERED VERSION IS OUT!
I remember playing the demo in Exhibition over and over, then playing the full game over and over. Good times. Vince’s deadpan personality makes the whole game for me XD
You know its nice to see old games get on PC I'm really glad this one will get on PC is year
I got this game almost as soon as it came out as a kid. This game was my LIFE as a child. It got to the point where I tried to make a real life Vince doll, and... It didn't turn out too good.
This is literally my favorite game from my childhood. If this is your first T-rated game, what an absolute joy. This game and the few Oddworld games like Stranger’s Wrath And Munch’s Odyssey are the only reason I have my OG Xbox still. What a joy.
one of the best soundtracks ive ever heard in a game too hard agree
unapreciated game
I swear to god I noticed that he had braces on once and now I can’t unhear how it affects his voice.
12:20 I thought you would never get to the music of the game... now that is the reason i keep coming back! the soundtrack is absolutely superb and great jazz at it’s finest
Great review. I played on original Xbox and got the CD soundtrack right after. I'm replaying the remastered version now and thoroughly enjoying it. Your assessment is right on.
I grew up with this game, and I quite loved it. I never played through the entire thing, but I loved the first couple levels so much it didn't matter much to me.
Also holy shit this nostalgia is amazing
As a fellow Vince myself it's really nice to see Vince representation that breaks away from the "Mafia rat" stereotype.
I did not think you were an Xbox guy, this channel is full of surprises.
Duuude...great episode! You're getting better and better brother. Really enjoying your content. Hang in there man!
It's funny because when I was very young this game not only scared the shit out of me but it was also very difficult. Idk I might try this again, but it's more of a good memory that I don't want to tarnish.
And they just re-released it, time to finally play it!
Damn, that song at the very end is awesome.
This definitely needs to be put on the Xbone store, or even better, Steam. I'd love to play this game.
I found out about this game back in 2005 through its soundtrack, and finally played the remaster last month. Only took 13 years, heh. Great game, amazing soundtrack! After finishing it, I kind of wanted to go back and play it again.
That clock puzzle wasn't changing the time, just what the clock read to fool the townspeople and stuff.
God I still remember that from when I was 12
I'm 4 years late but I hope some people on here who want to play this game can now get it on steam or xbox one
I remember watching my older brother playing this alongside with grabbed by the ghoulies and halo back in the day, good times
The soundtrack always made me feel some type of way like i cant explain it it just screams original xbox and it reminds me of the dr mudo game (i think thats what it was called)
Anyone else want to see this game turned into a stop motion movie?
I think this is like the first game I've have memories of because my dad how does original Xbox with that game while I was really young and he let me watch him play it.
Another thoroughly entertaining video! Seeing one of these in my sub box always brightens up my day. Thanks, Nitro.
Oh my god, I remember seeing this game in my uncle's basement.
It was usually the last thing I saw before he unzipped.
Well that escalated quickly
You need to wash that controller brah
a hidden gem hidden away in the Xbox’s dude bro FPS line ups. This game deserved better on other platforms
Glad this got a remaster
Woahhh I used to play this wierd demo back in the day. Along with Fusion Frenzy. Never knew that anyone else knew about it!!
Thanks nitro.
