Hull is famous for it's fishing industry and we get all our fish from immingham. There is a fresh fish market in the old town. East Park chippy was voted best in Hull which is an achievement as there is roughly 25 chippies in a 10 mile radius.
The clouds parted, the sun came out and the great Lee Davey got a descent meal of fish and chips and well prepared favourite sides. And he tried chip spice and got good value for the money. I like the shows where the MacMaster is at the end
I grew up 5 minute walk from East Park in the 90s/00s, whenever I visit family I always bring back a few tubs of chip spice. Great stuff. There was a great fish and chip shop named J&S Fisheries (only 2 minutes drive from that one) which was only open for a few hours over a few days. The lines would sometimes go on forever. I don't know if it's still there, but absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever had to this day. I've yet to find a fish and chips around in London were I've been pleased with both the value and the taste. It can't compare imo.
Sullivan's in Beverley East Yorkshire is a great Fish shop takeaway to, if you are still in the area mate. I've have been to East park chippy before and I do love having the skin on the fish because I always find the fish skin as the taste.
Well Lee you've cracked it at last. Your fish & chips looked beautiful, my mouth was watering looking at them & you tried your 1st pattie too, aren't they gorgeous?. I'm Cumbrian & we have them in all our chippy's here, usually meat or fish patties, both beautiful. I definitely give a 9 for your fish & chips. You hit the jackpot there.
That's a proper looking fish and chip dinner for you both with a decent bit of 'addock for a change unlike your last few updates where they looked like a who can serve one up thinner than an anchovy competition. Great update and man up regarding the skin on the fish as it's lovely. 👍
Why fish and chips in Hull? Because it once was the world's biggest fishing port.. I remember as an apprentice, many many years ago, Friday lunch was fish and chips from Lorraine ST chippy, but the size of the thing it should have been whale and chips and it was marvelous.
When I was last in Hull ( The place of my birth ) a few months ago I bought 40 patties from East Park Chippy. I brought them back here to South Wales and they are now in my freezer. My boys absoloutly love them. When I visit Hull again next summer I will restock once again :-)
Mushy pea fritters, they are one of the best things i have ever eaten, but sadly i have only managed to find them in one chippy in Southampton, i have never seen them sold any other place since.
I live in the next town to Maryport, literally a 5 minute drive away & I had no idea mushy pea fritters existed. I think I will be having a trip to Maryport at the weekend.
Coleman's fish and chips in South Shields or Minchellas on Seaburn sea front, Sunderland, if your ever up in the North East, there both fantastic, enjoy your videos, the good food and the bad !!
Hi Lee! Gotta be cod (not haddock), chips peas and curry sauce. Lashings of salt and vinegar on. What!! Gravy 😱 no way does it’s belong on fish n chips. Yes it does on pies, pasty’s or sausages but not fish. love pea fritters and scallops too . Just love chippies - period Yum - Great video
My ex-wife who was from Hell, was telling all my former work colleagues in the SW about "Chip Sparce", and how great it was. It transpired it was made just up the road in Dorset :D
Really glad you enjoyed east park chippy, I live in withernsea and in hull all the time, I've never had bad food from that chippy. Chip spice all over round here, fish patty is fish, potato and parsley mashed together, we also have fish fritter and that's 2 slices of potato with fish in the middle. I'm from West Yorkshire originally and all this took a while for me to get used to. Really enjoy your videos keep up the great work.
GUESS THE YEAR (3 years either side). At school in Ilkeston, we used to go to a chippy on Bath Street every Friday lunchtime, to have a “full house.” That consisted of fish, chips, pie, mushy peas, gravy, 3 slices of bread and butter and a bottle of Irn Bru……all for 2 shillings. Gravy on the full house was magic!
poor lady u could tell she was embarrassed by leaving the car, that sort of thing would happen to me worse time possible id have a coughing fit, suppose chip spice hit the back of her throat
Hi Lee, glad to see that the lady knows salt first, vinegar second. I still have about 30 patties in my freezer from East Park Chippy. Guess what I'll be having later for tea here in Wales??
It's always salt first vinegar second. If you put the vinegar on first, the salt clumps on the vinegar. If you put salt on first it gets to move about more.
Up here in the north east and patties are everywhere, from cheese to corned beef to fish to beans, If you ever visit scotland ask for some white pudding its absoltely delicious.
Patties are not everywhere in the North East. You can travel just a few miles out of Hull, visit a chippy, ask for a pattie and they look at you in bewilderment.
To me a Pattie is a slice of potato slice of fish topped off with another slice of potato dipped in batter and deep fried till golden ,that looked like a fish cake .You must try Coleman's in South Shields or Downey's in Seaham.

Can't recall the name of it but when I was a kid the chippy next to the bull pub on Beverley road was lovely mind you it's been 40 yrs since I was a kid 😂
I may be biased coming from Hull, where we are spoilt for choice with decent chippies but I'm curious, given you liked it so much (I agree btw it's my favourite in Hull) what did you knock of 0.4 for. Why not a perfect 10?

Born in Hull and live in Whitby. A pattie in Hull is always mashed potato and sage in batter. Ask for fish and chips in Hill and you get haddock, not cod.
East park chippy is my local one - I knew you’d like it there , even before I saw your review . Catch up in Tenerife sometime - Onwards!

East Park Chippy in Hull Excellent Value, Fantastic Looking Fish & Chips which is done the Proper Way. well Done to the Staff Who work Down there.✨✨✨✨

A patty in a chipper in Ireland would be the equivalent of a potatoe scallop
In belfast we have pastie's Mince beef and potato shaped the same and battered.
