Here is my lesson on Bill Haley's classic tune Goofin' Around, with guitar solo originally played by Franny Beecher. First I play through the whole song, then take each section slowly with tabs.
I'm playing a 2014 Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster through Logic Pro amp modeling.

Thanks for this fantastic transcription of Franny Beecher's blazing technique on this Bill Haley and his Comets instrumental. Franny deserves much more recognition than he gets for being one of the best rock guitarists ever... He was there in the beginning and his playing on all Haley recordings set a high standard that few have reached since then. I'd love to see a lesson on his solos for Rock A Beatin' Boogie and Razzle Dazzle.

Have a Gretsch - check.... Plugged into Fender reverb amp - check....... plenty of coffee and cigarettes at hand - check.... now to the task of learning this great tune!! Excellent lesson sir, putting it into little segments make it so much easier!! Thank you for sharing this :)

Fantastic lesson. Thanks, Tom. I've been working on this for days. First half is ok. Second half (timings) is very challenging. Your performance was exceptional! Great work!

Well done! Albert Lee always said this is very hard to play,-I learned this back in the day & finger positions were pretty much the same as you have them. except the low boogie I used chromatic run on the 5th string & I think that's what Frank did? As the guy below said Rock A Beatin' Boogie has a great solo & his ending on the song is brilliant. Razzle Dazzle is great too. Danny Cedrone's solo in Rock Around The Clock is a one off & nobody can really get it the same as Danny!!
