Hey Birt! I didn’t need to repair something like this, but i learned a lot from watching your video nonetheless less. Trying to repair a corroded battery compartment for a flashlight. Wish me luck!

Handy to know we can replace those crusty battery contacts.

Very nice. I will be doing the same on several items that I have. I’ve always wondered how to repair them. It never occurred to me that you could buy these springs. Thank you for the links. I also like that small plastic tool that you used to separate the case. Any idea what this is called or where I could get one? Separating plastic cases is always a major problem for me,

It is great that we are able to buy new contacts. I have always cut them out of new battery holders but the new ones work great.
The plastic tool is called spudger. I'll add a link to the set I bought from Amazon in the description.

Yes but can you do it without buying new ones or taking one from another item? Like from scratch make your own?

I suppose you could find some plated spring metal and wrap your own. Of course, some eccentric sword makers also find their own iron ore and make their own steel. It all depends on how you define 'from scratch'.

@@HeyBirt Did not mean to be sarcastic sorry , but there where I live in Africa it costs 50$ minimum just for delivery for items - if it ever arrives. So I am just looking for something practical - perhaps cut something like a flat spring from food cans or something like that. All the best.

@@hendrikdebruin4012 Oh, OK. You will want to find something springy. Copper would be the easiest to work with. Perhaps a small square of copper glued to foam rubber to provide spring tension. Solder wire to copper before glueing to foam.

@@HeyBirt Thanks a lot sir - I have a RC controller - got it with a bait boat I am trying to restore. The batteries was left in and most of the springs are now history. All the best - we need more people like you who are helpful instead of spiteful. Blessings.
