Such a beautiful song of love in it's purest form, extraordinarily powerful in it's unadorned simplicity. Wonderful instrumental and perfectly balanced accompaniment too. Very moving.
Of the many times I have been fortunate to hear Eliza Carthy in concert over the years this was one of the most memorable, in a freezing church on a wet old night.
Eliza and Saul performed this beautiful song at Sidmouth a few years ago and I fell in love with it then. Wonderful to find this uploaded to RUclips for us all to enjoy - many thanks. Absolutely stunning performance
Saw this tonight at Oxford Folk Weekend. So perfect and beautiful with true emotion. I’m so glad I could come back and find it on here straight away! Thank you for posting.
watch out nigel kennedy and co - eliza has moved up another notch and she was fantasmagorical in the first place [eliza and nancy 1990's]. might seem strange but i liken her to jacqueline du pre - each generation we deserve a musical wonder in UK. adrian boult / jacqueline / eliza [adele next?]

Read up on this, it's a lullaby from the Isle of Man. There's a (original?) version in Manx Gaelic with lyrics matching word for word, more or less.
❤
There be a bit of Lark Ascending I think I hear? All the better if so!
