You can cut or break styrofoam in many ways. You can use a lighter to soften the rough edges but do it outside or a well ventilated area because of the toxic fumes given off when applying heat to styrofoam. Or just cut cardboard with a scissors or craft knife and don't use styrofoam

@@Sunfl75 if you have cardboard and scissors or craft knife it's cheaper and no toxic fumes that are caused when you cut styrofoam with hot tools

Using hot tools to cut and shape styrofoam creates toxic fumes, should be done wearing a Respirator mask (not a dust mask) and outside or in a well ventilated area. Especially if you have sensitive pets like birds who will die. You really should warn people of this safety hazard
