The paddle shifters can work for 1 ratio up or down for few seconds in drive mode ..,,in sports mode paddle shifters can make the vehicle as a manual shifting without waiting for RPM based gear shift in my Honda CVT 🎉 ....congratulations for being a engineering based automotive guy ...keep posting such awesome videos sir

Yes it helps especially in hills while making steep climb at turns when you require more engine power without taking left hand from steering wheel, you can change the gear with paddle shifter quickly. it's not mandatory, but if it is available it's useful and more convenient to change gears manually fast.
Very well explained. One information could have been added. The gear rod in automatic cars is just a switch to give signal to ECU/TCM (unlike the mechanical linkage in manual gear box). That why it is easy to give paddle shifters in steering as only extra wiring is required. For normal driving, paddle shifter are not requirement that much other than adding to the cost as the same job is done by the gear rod( Paddle shifters were originally introduced in race cars to shift quickly).

Downshift perfectly works fine for me in my Amaze CVT. However, i feel the upshift is just a gimmick in CVTs. I once tried S mode, and tried upshifting my gears at every 2500 RPM to get better mileage. But, it was not upshifting, after 3rd gear it waits for like 3000 to 3500 RPM to upshift.
My Honda civic doesn't upshift gear in Sport mode, It redlines at 7000rpm and waits for the driver to upshift manually using the paddle shifter. But what it does is downshifts automatically while braking. Paddle shifters differ according to brand & technology adopted by the companies.Your Content is selection is 🔥.

In manual cars gear is controlled by gear lever. Where as manual mode or paddle shifters in Automatic transmission just send a signal to control unit. Controller will decide whether to accept or decline your gear shift. This cannot be implemented in manual transmission

Honda Amaze CVT comes with paddle shifters (7 speed). Paddle shifters helps a lot for quick pickup.

@@AbdulJabbar-bz6xt paddle shifters is only for performance. If you use D mode and cruise at 80-90kmph, you will get mileage 21-22kmpl
