Oden literally achieved more than any character in the series: 1) Fought Whitebeard, Roger, and Kaido. 2) Joined Whitebeard and Roger crews. 3) Guided Roger to Laftel to gain Pirate King status. 4) Saw what One Piece was. 5) Gave birth to future greatest Shogun of Wano. 6) Led a whole country. 7) Died heroically. 8) Influenced the whole next 20 years of the series. 9) Contributed to Zoro’s power up in Wano. Oden is the GOAT.
Don't forget that he traumatised kiado (he tried to dodge zoro's attack just bc he reminded him of oden)
It takes alot to make the unkillable creature that kiado is to wet himself lol

Oden has the best flashback story that I've read in the story
Every aspect is perfectly crafted and the inspiration he gave to the akazaya is justified
He's close second for me after Corazon as the best flashback character.

It feels so weird that Oden managed to do so many outrageous things literally the moment he was born, considering neither his father Sukiyaki nor his children Momonosuke and Hiyori doesn't seem to be even half as powerful as he was. I suppose he was just born "special", the same way Charlotte Linlin was born massive and extremely powerful despite her normal-sized parents (I don't even want to think about how Linlin's mother gave birth to something so huge).
Yep some are just born strong, others just flourish later. I'm sure Momo, will eventually surprass Oden.

Oden doesn’t even seem that strong talent wise, he’s a beast but I wouldn’t say he was like Kaido or big mom when he was younger, he was just hard working
always love watching these types of videos since they have so much personality, humor and are just very informative
Oden gave us one of the best things ever, his disgusted look lul and of course, his amazing presence, but a video like this out of the blue is cool
Oden’s story is so good, it easily stands as on its own that I believe you can read it without having to read the rest of One Piece beforehand
Oda has always been the god of flashbacks. But the fact that he was able to create such a captivating, heroic, inspiring, and tragic story so many chapters and years into one piece is a testament to how phenomenal of a writer he is. Kozuki Oden has become one of my favorite characters in fiction and I will always get chills re reading his story. 10/10 video, thanks for reminding me GLR
Oden, even though we haven't seen a lot from him compared to others, is definitly my favorite character in the whole series

Legends die with a smile
I just recently discovered that the Wano arc was loosely based on the story of Momotaro (Peach Boy). The parralels are astounding. It's also should be noted that if you combine Momonosuke and Luffytaro, you get Momotaro. I could regail the tale here, but it might make a great Grandline Review video.
Its 2023 and i am still trying to convince my friends that supposedly love Anime to watch one piece - they strongly believe i am in a CULT - And now i have accepted my faith. We are cultists people
Oden Roger and Whitebeard. True gods among men. Did Roger despair at his execution? Nah. He just laughed as he kicked off a new era. Was Whitebeard finally brought to his knees? Nope. Even in death he stood tall above all others. Did Oden even mind being forgotten? Nah. After all, Oden isn’t Oden unless it’s boiled.
This new way of telling a story is really great but i would like to see entire video like that
Its not actually a new way for GLR. Check out his strawhat relationship videos (The ones with the title of "The captain and the...". It has the same feel as this (visuals aside).

Oden’s story is definitely one of my favorite inside One Piece. It’s honestly just so damn cool. The perfect amount funny and badass.

I like to imagine Oden telling his joke to Roger every night with Roger increasing coughing up more and more buckets of blood because of how much he thinks it's funny, while the others just look on in horror and then forced to laugh to not disappoint Roger.
Also, Oden literally being the reason why Roger's illness was killing him so fast.

The Oden flashback had some of the most memorable moments in the entire series for me. Oden is definitely one of my favorite characters in the series, so much so that I consistently voted for him, as well as Bentham, in the World Top 100 Poll.

Hey bro I’m just gonna say this video format is straight print money. Most of us that love one piece are grown ass adults with busy lives. Not much time to reread or rewatch but these videos are always great to “re-experience” one piece if that makes sense.

after i read the manga i still watch the anime ,and rewatching some events who i read in the manga , i came with the conclusion that the theme of wano arc is freedom , as exemple someone wants to explore the world ,someone wants to eats what he want,others wants to chose how they want to die and where and so many.
Great observation. Liberation is the key theme in the arc and I feel it was done justice to.
I watched one piece for wano. I can tell you I enjoyed so many arcs such as thriller bark as well as wano but the most touching part was Kozuki Oden's past. Such an inspiration I will treasure these episodes as long as I live

Odens Death also reminds me of the Pirate legend of Klaus Störtebeker.
It is said that he was a notorius pirate who was executed by the mayor in the year 1401. But he made a deal with the mayor before he died. He would be decapitated and all of his 70 men would be lined up. Every crewmate that he would walk past without his head would be a free man. He allegedly walked past 11 of his men before falling dead to the ground. The mayor was so angered about this that he executed all of Störtebekers men right there. The motto of the pirate crew was "Gods friend and the worlds enemy". This quote is also written on his monument in Hamburg Germany.

Never a good leader but truly a great man. Oden's sacrifice and his prophecy later proved to be one of the most decisive "events" in the verse's history, taking out a fkin Yonko and upset the very balance of the OP world itself. He was shit as a father, terrible at his job (being a shogun) but nobody ever dares say he was not one of the greatest men in fiction, like of all times...

Oden is honestly my favorite flashback character. He's made so many impressive feats at a young age, but wanted to see the world. That desire ultimately lead to the discovery of the One Piece, leading to the Great Pirate Era. He had seen the world, and wanted therefore to open Wano for the rest of the world. But due to betrayal and manipulation, he was killed, and Wano was doomed to 20 years of darkness. But his spirit lived on, and guided the war against Kaido.
The man had potential !!!

Even though Oden's death was for the story and importance for it, I wish he never died and we got to see more of him. I know we got a lot of the flashbacks but he is just such an interesting and cool character I want to see more of.
