- Hi guys, I'm sick today so I had to stay home and do nothing, so I filmed this random video talking about my views about a few important things in fingerboarding, mostly style, sponsorships, fun, goals, etc. Hope you enjoy. There's a few tricks at the end too!
Mike. You are the best. Not just at finger boarding you are an amazing role model. Keep making videos you're awesome! :)
I agree
me too i agree
agree
+Comand3r Lasky I agree
same i also agree
I just got back into fingerboarding after 10 years and actually started making my own boards as well. I make massive 36mm fingerboards because I wanted the most comfort coming back in and have actually sold a few. It's nice to know that it doesn't really matter what kind of deck you ride as much as it's about preference.
Ok plz tell me I just started fingerboarding so what does the 29 mm or the 32 mm mean
its just the width of the board and is mostly just a matter of preference and comfort than performance. Since this post I've gone down to 33.6 mm boards which I sell for 15 a piece for just the deck in my town. I do them by commission.
+Jeremy Novoa I used a ruler and 32 mm is pretty wide
Yeah it gives you a bit more control over the board depending on the size of your fingers. I have pretty long fingers so a wider board just feels more comfortable for me. Yo'll have to experiment with different board types to find whats right for you.
+Jeremy Novoa one last question do brr trucks fit br winkler wheels
Thanks
that really changed my mind about a couple of things .although I wasn't thinking about sponsors now I am.
that's what I've been doing for more than ten years! it's cool to listen to someone reasuring that.
He should do a video on all the kids that try and be "trendy" and ad earrape rap music
Dude FAX

Can you upload more videos like this...honestly like this style of video.
Thank you, this video was really inspiring. I have been working since about 9:00 PMish and it is currently past 12:45AM and this video has helped me calm down a little bit. This has also given me a bit of confidence I need to fingerboard at school. For most fingerboarders this seems to be an easy task but some of my closest friends make fun of me for it so it can get pretty hard to fingerboard. I am also afraid to mess up for that very reason and I think that this video can help plenty of other people with confidence issues and, to dome extent, even stress. So thank you and please keep making videos like this where you talk to the camera because I think you have a lot of awesome things to say in addition to your fingerboarding skills. So again, keep up the great work and please make more videos like this.
Lol the cat in the background
🤣
Hi Mike I am a huge fan for you and you are the best fingerboarder ever
I really like it when you're talking in your videos :)
Yes for fun thank you and how can u go out and skateboard in the rain snow fingerboarding is a great past time and it is such a good family thanks Mike
Can I use a tech deck and tech deck ramps cause I'm really good but that's all I got
North Star state RC of course I use a flatface deck and a Berlin wood but you could still be better than me.
I actually think it's easier to fingerboard with loose trucks it makes kickflips easier
I agree
+Liam Walsh i agree
It's harder for heelflips tho!
DQ Activities naa just try heelflips with kickflip stance
In my opinion kickflips are easier with tight trucks since you pop higher but i ride loose since i ride tech decks lol i need to get a good wooden board
Mike Schneider you have changed my life and that everything is not all about winning it's all about being out there and having fun and hopefully in the future I'm going to get myself a fingerboard to shred on just because of you and you really changed my p.o.v in life, work, and fingerboarding of course keep up the good work Mike and many more years to come for FlatFace!! Instantly subscribed!! :)
You helped me so much mike you are the best
this video is absolutely not boring, more people should give advice just as you do to the kids, is more helpful than every video with thousands of tricks, thanks Mike.
Hey Mike, I really like finger boarding but I can't make a finger board myself or have enough money for a Bollie or FlateFace or Berlin. I'm stuck with teck decks. Any help?
Go Gator Fingerboards!
Try Finga fingerboards.
4cfingerboards
realy cheap
try pro wood or trivum
Buy a broken knuckle finger board! They are amazing and they are only like $16 for a set! Order them on amazon or on their website
Great video Mike.. and nice to see one of the most known fingerboarders being honest about fingerboarding, sponsorships and also RUclips. You don´t have to have the most expensive decks, wheels or trucks or ramps, rails and ledges to have fun.. kinda why i make videos showing how to make boards, molds and some obstacles and people seems to like it.. Again, i really enjoyed this video and your honesty... :)
I like this type of videos i never hear you (your opinions are wise)
What are you thoughts on finger boarding with 3 fingers???
Thank you. 3 years ago I walk in fingerboard and not well at all thank you very much and the number one of the best skating in fingerboard
Mike how are u so good
becaurse he finggerboards from 2003 year
I'm 25, and I've been fingerboarding since tech deck was coming up. I used to watch fingerboard videos (fingers of fury) & mods (moshmellows). Then I found you on youtube years later and i did it for the same reason, I just wanted to watch what other people could do on a fingerboard, ok I borrowed tricks and combos here and there, but it still was something i did when i was bored and i could easily take along on a trip or to school. And becasue it was FUN. I hope you read this. Great video mike!
I only want to get sponsored for free decks since I don't have the money to buy one. My tech decks keep breaking and I jut need a better one.
haha how the hell do you end up breaking tech decks. Its fingerboarding, not skateboarding. Im not trying to be a meanie, Im just asking. :)
well i love skateboarding way more than fingerboarding. but when you live somewhere where theres 6 feet of snow outside you tend to stay inside a lot.
Ian Hartung lmao you didnt answer his question. he asked how do you break a tech deck. hw didnt say anything about you needing to go outside and skateboard
Ian Hartung I don't think you not skateboarding would make you a homosexual
+ReesesNchips I believe he landed to ruff and hard on his tech deck they can snap but yeah I've never broken any of them in my life lol but now I have a proper fingerboard Yaaaaaaaaay
Mike, how do you get sponsored and what is it, and what is it for?
fingerboarding shouldnt be used to impress someone? let me tell you i am pretty damn good at fingerboarding. and embarassed of it. most people dont know i do it. i cant belive people make vids doing it.
you just keep going and going don't you.
ok whatever you say guy.
'Shweet'? really? whatever. have fun in school today little man.
you're 17. explains it all.
hahaha right?!
you are a awesome role model to all of us I used to fingerboard back in the days I always had fun and started out with tech decks I came first in a compition won a bunch of tech deck stuff and prize money in new Zealand Palmerston north but I had never thought it would grow this big but now its 2018 and I'm starting to get back into it I only can afford to buy tech decks as that's what I can afford on a budget thank you so much mike for all your encouraging words and inspiration on us all I love to have fun finger boarding and hopefully I can afford a real finger board some day thank you so much Mike for getting me back into it
do you recommend making your own ramp? Because i am doing that right now.
mike you are so insperational (sorry that i spelled that wrong), but you are the reason i started fingerboarding, i have been going at it for 1 year now, and i recently learned switch nollie, and kickflip, and just as i type this i learned switch verial flip.
you are the reason i started, i love your videos, thank if you read that!
Hey mike, I have a question for you. I'm planning to buy a close up 31mm does 1mm make a difference of anything? If it does i think I'll buy a 32mm
Mike I need a finger board I can't afford the ones you have so which should I use
no one should hate on mike, this is just as fun as normal fingerboarding, he loves what he does soo... respect that. believe me, i do both
Thanks this really helped me! And actually I'm embarrassed about being good near my friends but I'm moving so me and a couple of buddy's are going to skate the halls of my school on a real skate board then when we go to detention and the teachers take away our boards we are going to finger board! Ha! Its going to be great!
mm how about you tdont like the way you fingerboard normally? is it a good thing to change for something that looks better to you? answer to show me your opinion
why does it matter if your trucks are loose or tight on a fingerboard? or what type of board you have? just wondering
Im thinking about getting a fingerboard but what style should i get ? There is low and classic.
mike do you think its ok because i use to teck deck and i got use to using 3 fingers so is it fine if i still do since i have a fingerboard?
thank you mike you always give us the best advice
@MikeSchneider Where did you get your FishEye camera from?
sorry if im in the wrong video. i was playing around with my fingerboard. and when doign the ollie. i know how to ollie but ive noticed this sometimes so i decided to pratcice it) the board rotates backwards. as if i was doing a backflip, but only the board rotates. so it is kinda like a kickflip. just instead of flipping to the side. it flips to the back. what is that called?
Thanks mike for the advise you inspired me and i fingerboard for fun i will never stop
Which fingerboard do you recomend
Black river
Flat face
Berlin wood
quick question do you have to be sponsored to get black river ramps and rails and stuff or can you just go buy it
hey dude so like,i have a legit problem here,so i learned the nollie, kickflip and tre flip in the same week but i suck at them, can you help me sort the problem out?Im in confusion.
Thanks for that vid! I'm a really big fan of cruiser and that one caught my eye! can you please tell me were you bought it?
Mike do you think that broken knuckle fingerboards is a good store
I just wanted to say thank you for your advice about the sponsorship advice but your right, I don't want to get in competitions all of the time I want to have fun and show people how my ways of fingerboarding works and it caught my eye because I know you have a lot of people that watch your videos but for you to take your time out and say that made me happy thanks man and I know you are going to see this message feel better man hope to see more videos!
did u make a board off that cup or thing to the right?
Thank you so much Mike, you are absolutely right... I ordered a deck from my buddy Sullivan, but it didn't come for a couple weeks but then one day I got a package in the mail from him even though we live real close. I open it up and there's a note inside. He gave me a pair of wheels, 2 decks, griptape and some stickers... For free. I was touched. I used to be all about getting a sponsor but now it's just sort of a side goal and it's not that important to me... God bless you Mike...
"You can fingerboard on a book and have as fun as a blackriver ramps" -Mike Schneider
i gotta say your right about everything exept the part about not coping style ive been fingerboarding for more than 10 years and untill about three years ago i used 3 fingers (it felt right at the time) but it was actually seeing your videos and your style that made me stop and re learn all my tricks with only 2 took a long time but now i enjoy not having that nasty habbit and i can do lots of steezy tricks that are simply not possible with all them fingers in the way so yeah thank you sir
is it a bad habit to fingerboard with three fingers please reply
ive just started fingerboarding and ive just got a tech deck! ive found a board on ebay called a 4CFB complete and its like £15 is it a good upgrade! because in England fingerboards are quite hard to get hold of so i thought that would be awsome to get!!! also is there any tips on how to do kickflips because my fingers cant react fast enough! im stuck please help me!
many thanks HARRY
what is your most favorite board?(honest opinion)
I've just had fun fingerboreding and watch almost all of Mike's videos and got really good in the process I'd rather have fun with it than get sponsored honestly
I finger board with my left hand is thay backwards or do other people do that
well said, a lot of kids want to get sponsored, but don't realize the responsibility that comes along with it ..and you're so right about style.
Words of wisdom right here.
Plus your cat's chillin in the background.
That's it!! Fingerboard is more than a simple setup or ramps.
Do fingerboard for fun and no matter what others think about you.
Awesome vid! Words of wisdom. This should have many more views.
Mike exactly my point i hate it when you see kids fingerboarding but there doing it to impress someone, or when people judge because what type of music u have on your video!
thanks Mike Keep these type of videos up!
Dude, you're my inspiration every day of fingerboard of my life!!
thanks for the tips! But one thing I prefer it loose trucks its more easier to kick-flip and 360 flips it makes your hand more easier to move so your hand is not stiff.
hey mike do you prefer your g12 or g13?
Would it really make a difference if I got a real board and not a plastic one like a teck deck?
Great vid and speech too . Thanks for that advice it really does help.
Feel like I’m a time machine in the most positive way possible. I wish I could’ve looked up to someone like you 9 years ago
Bro idk how I wondered here as well lmao. Got back into it after yearrrrrs. Bought myself a G15 for my birthday a week ago. I missed it so much.
Mike do u use tight trucks or loose trucks?
i can sometimes do fingerboarding with 2 fingers but most of the time i do it with 3 is this bad ?
Thx Mike! I enjoy uploading fingerboarding videos onto my account because i like editing and I find it fun in general. Is that okay.
What camera do you use??? Mike??
Hi 8 years later what are my chances if I have 12 years FB experience and a new ftp deck and my own style?
I can't help bending my little finger and the one next to it it's really annoying and after a while it hurts please give some tips?!
I do dolphin flips (foward flip) into nose grind and 3 flip out alot I haven't made any videos on it but im trying to make my own wooden decks and start selling them in school, but thats not my point I do agree with you sponsors aren't needed and style is key if you want one but any one reading this listen to him he owns the biggest deck company out there currently.
hey mike im a good fingerboarder but when i try to record myself i start to suck can u give me some tips on what to do
I wish I could just meet you and fingerboard together 😩
Yea me too
Go to rendezvous!
Same
i would ike to finger board with him as well but i live in Australia so i cant go to rendezevous
mike this was not a boring vid.this was a very good vid .your right so many people try to copy styles but they should have there own styles.you are a good example because you have fun when making vids, you are creative with vids and styles, and you dont care what people think of you.you inspire alot of people
mike where do you get your fingerboards with color trucks and wheels ?
He makes a lot of his own decks and wheels. His company is flatface fingerboards. But is oak pared by Berlineood and blackriver
Darren Sung what?
i could listen to you talking for HOURS on end. keep up the good work
THX MIKE! You help me so much ! Thx for your help
I don't see the bad rep tech deck has. Someone uploaded a vid saying you won't get sponsored if you use a tech deck in your vids. Thats the only one I use right now and their re-released boards have a nice concave in the middle that just adds for smooth flips and grind positions. Maybe later I'll try other fingerboard companies. I'm just happy with the tech deck boards I have now. As long as I keep learning new moves on em I'll continue using em. Great vid !
That was good man, you speak the truth! Also that last trick was off the chain!!!
I skate untucked and I feel exactly the way you explained it. It's my style. It's more fun than straining my wrist to tuck two fingers up... You mentioned "Scott B" as being an "untucked" fingerboarder. Does he have a channel? I want to see his vids. Nice talk, Mike!
how many fingerboarding ramps do you have in all?
Mike, I think your point of view is correct, because fingerboarding its for fun. The sponsorships come, and go, so the sponsorships are not the main thing in fingerboarding.
would tech decks work on the blackriver ramps or not
you are my inspiration for fingerboarding
You are the fucking MAN!
It's funny how the person who achieves greatness for their passion is the one who ultimately gains the wisdom to tell everybody else just to relax and have fun doing it.
Thanks for being real.
What brand was that crusier?
really good video mike, i was like you sayed ( tried to get sponsors and all that kind of stuff but after all that i was pretty tired to impress all the time so i started doing it for like fun and i learned alot more. I dont even learn my tricks from trick tip´s they like come in my fingers after some time :) you are my absolutly favourite fingerboarder i hope you don´t gonna quit fingerboarding for a long time. Bye
yeah i agree with you mike. i just use random obstacles haha i've never owned one single professional ramp and not because i don't want one i just figure why not find or make something that you can get creative on. its's all about fun man!
I stopped filming about 3 years ago because I found that I have more fun when I don't film..... Weird but idk I just enjoy finger boarding so much and couldn't agree more with what u said. Keep it real mike
You're my idol Mike! I download every video that you upload because you're so cool. :)
Ur awesome u really helped me progress in fingerboarding
i would go with the classic because its medium kicks and medium concave so later on you can develop your preference
what camera is this
your videos is never been boring at all.....i like all of your videos....=)=)
Hey mike, i ordered some bushings on August 24. I haven't received them yet. Please respond.
this completely opened up my heart to fingers
This was awesome Mike!
Now will probably some more people understand that they should do their own thing.
