I remember when they moved the Garden City toll house , back in the 80's ,also drove a bus on a stretch of Motor Pkwy coming out of Ronkonkoma RR Station heading west ...
Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make this video. I grew up on long Island moved to Oregon in1989 brings back awesome memories of driving around the island growing up!
I know exactly what you are talking about and I too would like to know what that structure was used for. I will have to do some research on that sometime.
Depends on exactly where the structure you are referring to is on the Parkway. Most likely one of the several gas stations stylized ornately with brick and stone, as the many bridges are. There were gas stations along the Meadowbrook, Wantagh State, and Southern State as well. Do not believe any are currently functioning. These were also prominent on the Hutchinson R Parkway, Bronx River, and Taconic parkways. Some of those still function as gas stations and Dunkin Donuts or other.
All of the tollhouses were not the same looking. Also where you were on jericho turnpike was an underpass under jericho turnpike for motor parkway and that is not in garden city.
Funny you made a video about this i was asking my mom about the vanderbuilt parkway! Great video thanks! Very interesting videos!
Glad you enjoyed it Neil, thanks for watching!

race ended in levittown by current day orchid rd. there were grandstands erected. there is tons of documentation.
Clinton road is in Garden City. That tollhouse came from there.
What about that stone looking building on northern Pkwy, what's the story with that?
