Important translation error in GX
Jesse is NOT from North Academy.
North Academy is Duel Academy’s rival, that Chazz went to
The four transfer students from Season 3 are from the other four Duel Academy **branches**
Jesse is from Duel Academy’s north branch, while the others are from the south, east, and west branches respectively.
The Duel Academy in the show could easily be called “Duel Academy Central”
Remember they have a superintendent, after all. There’s 5 schools in their “district”
Even funnier.
In Tag Force 2/3 in the character profiles. For Jesse it states Arctic Academy. A loose reference to Academy of the North.
The Tag Force 2 character profile doesn't even mention North Academy at all.
So yes. It's a translation error.
This honestly helped me a lot. Thank you
Actually, the North Academy that Chazz repped in Season 1 is Duel Academy North Branch.
What you're s saying is that Kaiba didn't make just one Duel Academy, he made five?
@@Lucario1121
I imagine he made the first, then someone else made the second, and he just said “Well I’ll make ALL THE REST, THEN!”
Jadens story of having fun at the start and then becoming very serious is very reflective of real life meta serious players 😆
That is very true lol
That happened to me 😂
Except irl players don't have anyone to remind them fun exists
Kinda makes no sense cause a lot of meta players have fun while playing the game, and the “good ones” usually always end up having a tight friend group-look at most the yugitubers. They have healthy friendships with people in their own community are play the game to a competitive level, and still have fun.
"Blair is weird she's obsessed with Zane"
"Zane is my favorite GX character:
Oh my god, he’s just Blair.
The duality of man
Also the erasure of Blairs obsession with Jaden and crush on Chazz upsets me
I firmly believe that the reason bastion wasn’t initially allowed into the society of light is actually because he was too good. To convert someone, they have to lose. Bastion had to be manipulated into joining. Bastion goated
Who’s bastion?
When you realise Bastion had the chops to stop the YGO's biggest cult dead in its tracks (assuming Saiou would've kept his word & disbanded it) _singlehandedly,_ & you look at what he got reduced to by the end of the show, you realise just how much potential he had, and thus how dirty his character ultimately got done.
@@dancostello4872 That's a fact
@@dancostello4872 I will say that Bastian's character arc SOMEWHAT works in that regard. It'd be a picture to see him tornado the entire SoL. But we see poor guy was lonely. And was that honestly fixed? Yeah, maybe the waste of potential WAS the point.
@@dancostello4872 He like barley even speaks later 😭
Bonds beyond time is set After season 4. Easily recogninazable by the fact that he is fused with Yubel but doenst have the S4 personality anymore
Also that his external traveling companion is a cat with an alchemist's ghost within it.
Or the fact that he is seen in Venise outside of academia so in the middle of his travel
@@christopherb501 (Insert joke about why Jaden was at Venice here)
I don't get why some people think that bonds beyond time isnt after S4,like what do they not understand?????
@@danieljuries9473 It makes perfect sense for it to happen after season 4 and the events of GX since Jaden basically left Duel Academy at the end of the series and no one really knows where he went from there
I'm pretty sure Chazz does beat pretty much all of Obelisk Blue in season two and converts them to the Society of Light. It just happens off screen. But from then on, I think the only Obelisks not brainwashed were Alexis and a few minor characters. We just don't see all these duels.
He also beats basically the entire Ra Dorm minus Syrus & Hassleberry (they were living in Slifer - he'd have manhandled them both had he dueled them) considering how empty it is by the time Bastion loses. In fact I'm pretty sure he beats basically everyone twice lol - the second time was to un-convert/free them after Jaden saves him; he's credited with being the one who 'saved' Obelisk Blue (despite being the one also responsible for its downfall).
Chazz was lowkey smacking the 'strongest dorms' for fun lmao.
@@dancostello4872 he has technically beaten three schools' worth of opponents. Only character that has more wins than him is Jack Atlas.
Just to note but season 4 Jaden legit had to deal with floodgates twice which is honestly hilarious
The only one who managed to deal with Skill Drain😂
Bonds Beyond Time is post-series. Yubel and Daitokuji (Banner) are with Judai. Yubel doesn't manifest as a spirit with Judai until the Darkness duel.
It's actually the clearest placement for the timeline out of the three.
Actually all three of when the protaginist duels paradox are pretty clear if you pay close attention to the sub, in 5ds its clear it takes place somewhere in between about episode 100 to 130ish (I don't remember the exact episode) it shows paradox in Yuseis mind when he thinks of all his friends or some crap. In gx the general consensus is its right after because the last scene seems to be where bbt is. It isn't exactly clear in dm but it seems to take place some time after battle city but before wda because the relation with peagus isn't on relitive good terms
@@patrickreville4978 I'm pretty sure BBT has to be before Crash Town in 5D's, which is Epiaode 86.
And yeah, for Yugi it has to be after Battle City since he has a duel disk. Although it's not clear if it's before or after Waking the Dragons (since the movie is in the anime continuity).
@@chronokeep Yeah you're right.
In 5Ds it's between Bruno's introduction (Ep.80) & the start of the WRGP (Ep.100) but that's as accurate as we can best guess; it's almost certainly either just before or just after Crash Town (I'd estimate after personally) but I doubt we'll ever get official confirmation to know for certain.
GX is post S4, which is pretty cut & dry.
DM is post Battle City for the reason you stated, but it's worth noting there's a frame where Pegasus has his Millennium Eye; most likely it was just an animation error not picked up on in production, but if it was kept in intentionally then it messes up the timeline completely lmao.
@@chronokeep its been quite a long while since I watched 5ds but yeah it probably does take place sometime then, I was just saying the world cup ( I think) because his duel with primo at the end has him think back and you can see him if I recall correctly.
Atticus is a Mai Valentine of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - he's said to be a great duelist, but never won onscreen.
you know, the funny thing about zane saying that syrus has surpassed him on his last duel is that, you cannot ever put final season syrus under any zane without calling zane a liar
Zane is a liar
@@TeenPerspektivaZane was proud of his little brother in the final season.
He took his Cyberdark deck put his own cards into it and made it his own still winning.
@@ChaosArchives667 if he was, he had no reason to
People rather zane stayed dead then admit syrus surpassed him
@@TeenPerspektivawhat makes you say that
"Belowski has a special ability that makes people fall asleep as he duels them" Ah so he's a meta deck on Master Duel then. Waaaaay ahead of the time there Konami.
🤣
Judai in Bonds Beyond Time was after the finale of GX, he has the cat with the teacher soul in it as seen in the final episode.
He's also in Venice, aka travelling like he sets out to do at the end of GX.
Sure he has a slightly weird movie-deck, but it's very much a sequel to GX (like DSOD is to DM).
@@OneWingedRoseea and his combos are kinda carrying the trio throughout the duel so he definitely should be the best
he's also got that pep in his step that he only regained after dueling yugi, so yeah definitely after all of GX
One thing to take into account is that Manjome would’ve beaten Season 4 Judai but he intentionally lost their duel.
Yeah chazz is so underrated without beeing prota level he's not so far behind like kaiba and Yugi, Chazz and judai is a really close one
This is ignoring the context.
If Chazz won, he would not have learned. Since it personally effect him he then started to care. If it didn't effect him, he would not have cared if Aster got fired.
Only proves Chazz takes the easy way out. That's what he would have done if he beat Jaden. So no, Chazz deserved to lose
@@soukenmarufwt5224 I’m not saying it’s wrong that he lost. I don’t know where you got that idea lol, I’m just saying he has the strength to win against high tier duelists since that’s relevant to the video.
@@soukenmarufwt5224 that‘s only for S2. In S4 there‘s another duel where Chazz would‘ve beaten Judai but he lost intentionally, but this time because he was forced to, not out of moral obligation.
Hope he does a video on this topic, cause most people ignore it.
Season 4 Jaden was incredibly badass. I loved him so much, I don't think there has been another protagonist in Yugioh who just didn't give a damn and just wanted to OTK people.
Hell fucking yeah 💯💯💯
My favorite YGO protag by far
Jaded Yuki
I think there was a scene in 5Ds where Yusei OTK three duelists without a damn
Honestly, out of all the content on this channel I REALLY enjoy & get very immersed in the character tier lists. They don't stay within just loving a character as a whole but breaking them down into what parts of a series you enjoyed the character most. Keep up the great work man 🎉 stay cool
Doesn't season 4 Chazz have Jaden beaten in a duel but ends up throwing because of sponsor instructions, or something to that effect? My boy is so hard done by getting beaten up by the big bad every season to show off how strong they are.
So I'm just gonna say this; Chumley held his own against Crowler before he leaves Duel Academy. He shows such tremendous progress and I feel he should be ranked in at least D tier. He's not great, but he came a long way
Even Mrs Crowler was impressed with Chumley's progress. Wait, isn't Crowler a guy?
My favorite part was that crowler was extremely tempted to throw the duel because he showed so much progress that he legit was extremely proud of him. But he couldn't do that as a duelist. It showed layers to crowler, he clearly cares and loves his student, but it is because he is a duelist himself that he has to fight at his best.
Havent watched GX since it aired but watching this tier list makes me wanna revisit it! Loving the tier list videos!!
@nickpiccolo9106 It's on RUclips if you'd like to check it out
You should check it out! 10/10 would recommend. If you decide to watch it I hope you enjoy it, my friend
If you watched it as a kid you will like it, otherwise its pretty mid and full of lame stuff.
@@TeenPerspektiva It is not lame.
I think Syrus having the greatest progression from D to A tier is one of the best parts of the show
I love how in S1, there are rumours about Harrington (tennis guy) being supposedly as good as Zane, but then in practice he absolutely hooned, even with cards which did 1500 & 1000 burn at a time in the 4000LP anime format 😂
You going to combine the tiers after each show and rank them within each tier? Seems like a good call at least for the S-tiers.
I can't wait to see the 5D's Tier list!
The Mary Sue protagonist is gonna be SSSSSSSSS
I imagine Yusei is gonna be SS right off the bat.
@@cyberdarkturtle6971 he is not a Mary Sue. Being good at what you do, while having so many story elements, issues, weaknesses to overcome, traumas, things to learn and improve on... These don't make someone a Mary Sue.
@Just a prince with a mustache character development? What's that? Do ANY of the protagonists ever have a problem with him? Does he undo decades worth of conflict in a matter of hours?
@@SasukeTurkey let's see... flaws that barely inconvenience him, is pretty much excellent at everything he does, barely struggles to achieve his goals... he is a Mary sue character.
He never loses, never struggles, gets the girl at the end, is able to "talk-no-justu" pretty much anyone he wants to.
Really loving these list videos. Interestingly i'm the other way around compared to you, i kinda love the dumb one-off gimmick duelists/decks because the idea of seeing how stupid a deck can be and still look vaguely functional is a fun thought experiment to me.
Only thought, Kaiba has to be SS. Doesn’t GX take place like 10 years after the original series, so it would have to be after DSOD (when they graduate high school). Moreover though, in one of the final episodes of GX (season 4), Kaiba is one of the only people shown that Darkness hasn’t been able to conquer (there’s a list of Domino residents and everybody is erased off the list except for Kaiba)
Wow darkness isn’t able to beat Kaiba? Omg! Also, does Darkness beat Yugi or?
DSOD is canon to the manga, not the anime.
@@kal-eldritchTbf, even if it was in the anime timeline, GX Yugi calls BBT/BC Yugi the strongest duelist so in terms of power scale it goes:
BBT Jaden = BBT/BC Yugi >= S4 Jaden (w/ Yubel) > S4 Jaden (w/o Yubel) > Darkness ~ GX Kaiba > DSoD Kaiba < DSoD Yugi < GX Yugi < S4 Jaden (w/ Yubel)
S4 Jaden is > GX Yugi since Yugi only wanted to teach Jaden that dueling is still fun, win or lose, so there’s no need to have Jaden duel BC/BBT Yugi to learn this lesson if GX Yugi could do it. The first episode is also called “The Next King of Games” or smth to that extent so Jaden having surpassed GX Yugi at the end of his series makes narrative sense.
@@Zong_Cheng Except we know that isn't true since it was stated several times at the end of DM that Yugi surpassed Atem and he fought Atem when he was at full power since he got his memories back. Also "The Next King of Games” is the dub name. The JP's title was "Yugi's Heir".
@@Ramona122003 Yugi surpassed Atem as a duelist because he is simply better at dueling. That wouldn’t change the fact that Atem has a better deck and the ability to legally cheat in the game with magic. The “ultimate duelist” Yugi is referring to is the past him who combines both Atem and Yugi’s pros in one person. Yugi’s skill + God Cards + top decking anything he wants >>> Yugi’s skill.
Like … the Yugi you seem to be implying is the strongest version directly concedes his own inferiority to a previous version who had Atem, the god cards, magic etc. As the only person who could beat Atem (specifically because of how intimately he knew him) and whose whole narrative was about knowing himself and surpassing his “ideal self”, Yugi is the best person to judge when he was at his best short of the writers. Your disagreement simply doesn’t hold any weight in the face of that.
Did you miss the “or smth to that extent” part? An heir is someone who succeeds a person/position. Yugi is synonymous with the “King of Games” title so “Yugi’s heir” literally translates to “the person who succeeds Yugi” … aka “the next King of Games”.
I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to disagree with here since nothing you’ve said contradicts anything that I posted previously or is just splitting hairs for reasons?
I think Fujiwara and Adrian belong in S.
Fujiwara was about to take out S4 Jaiden in their duel had Jesse not interviened, the nonsense he pulled to rig his duel with Atticus is just also something I can't ignore.
Adrian is a harder sell I guess, but just, before his duel with Yubel he kinda steam rolled his opponents. Craziest thing this guy does though is during his duel with Yubel, when Exodia is removed as a win condition, he changes his entire focus of his deck and just pulls new cards out of nowhere to keep the pressure on. Also I know this isn't exactly duel related, more of a ba/duel spirit thing, but as Yubel is approaching their throne this guy uses the power of Exodia to force push them out of the way, Didn't see Zane or anyone else come close to doing that at that point.
Also props to Adrian for kickstarting the one actual 1 on 1 fight scene in a yugioh anime. This guy is underrated. ruclips.net/video/1zaCaVcd93A/видео.html
Also to add to this Atticus, after regaining his memory, said Fujiwara was a far better duelist than Zane.
Not to mention how Yubel finally used their own card version against Adrian, which is treated as their true "ace" monster rather than Rainbow Dark Dragon or the Sacred Beasts. In fact since the monsters' strength outside of duels translates to in-duel strength in the anime, Yubel as a severed arm is as strong as Rainbow Dragon and the Sacred Beasts put together since it took those two clashing with each other to replicate Yubel's feat of teleporting Duel Academy to another dimension. Let alone after Yubel fully recovered.
Syrus isn’t a “bad” duelist, he just lacks confidence because Zane stepped in before he made a misplay with Power Bond. Once he figures out his brother’s lesson, he starts improving greatly.
and yet he still lost a tag duel to a wannabe rapper and his bland partner.
Context.
In the sub, Syrus thought he was about to win and he started talking shit and acting like an unlikable jacka$$ to his opponent and wanting to do something humiliating.
Do not feel sorry fir Syrus in either version. He's a spineless coward and an arrogant price if he gets his way.
also you're forgetting he plays Roids. The worst archetype of all time.
@@lilsunny7399 The "rapper" was against "Jaden"; "Syrus" didn't duel him.
Get off the copium, Syrus is bad he is barely part of the main cast. In fact his only purpose is to be bad in contrast to Jaden
@@TeenPerspektiva a lot of Syrus’s issues is his confidence. Once he found it, he started doing a lot better. He had to learn his brother’s lesson to him about “use” and “play”. He learned that and improved.
I'd say the high profile one I disagree with was putting BBT Jaden below S4 Jaden. I'd rank BBT Jaden as a smidge higher purely down to the fact he was on equal footing with apparent "Prime - Yugi" and Yusei. He had the same deck as his S4 self and was now comfortable and happy about duelling (so the ultimate Jaden, as it were)
It’d be really cool if you could do a list with all of the manga exclusive characters at some point, since the manga for GX-ArcV are pretty different from their anime
The weird thing about Chumley is that he seemed to be able to make good analysis whenever Judai was duelling (better than Syrus), but when it was him duelling he duelled like a beginner. No idea why. Maybe it was the pressure of duelling himself.
I noticed this too, and it is definitely unusual. He seems to know his stuff fairly well on the sidelines, even recognising when optimal plays had been made like Jaden vs Amnael, but during his first duel he was absolutely ass lmao. I preferred him as a spectator because either he actually looked like someone who'd studied at DA for 3 years, or he'd come out with something really funny & definitely memeable.
By far my favourite sideline moment from him is when Jaden destroys Uria for the first time against Kagemaru and Syrus celebrates, Chumley says "yeah but I woulda got rid of it last round Sy" because it wasn't on the field during Jaden's previous turn. Another great moment was when Jaden activated Special Hurricane during the School Duel & Chumley goes "totally what I'd have done... y'know if I had those cards... and if Jaden were walking me through it step-by-step," and Bastion says "That's all? Maybe he should hold your hand as well"
I hope you do a 5ds one, this video and the OG yugioh tier list video are probably some of my favorite videos you've done just because i can trust your opinion since you are so knowledgeable about the shows.
I absolutely love these videos! Please please make more tier lists for each series!
Hell yeah
Just wanna quickly say that we all really appreciate you and the work that's gone in, and is going to go in, to these tier list videos, and your content in general
Thank you Sam, much love to you
I feel we need to understand Chaz only lost to characters who were pretty strong and most of his duels are just against good duelists. The same is true of jaden by end of season 2/beginning of s3 jaden is stronger than or equal to aster and Jessie who are canonically Pegasus’ 4th and 5th best duelists at the time jaden beats them you could even argue that aster got even stronger as Pegasus would have made that statement before aster used destiny heroes
I think season 2 Aster deserves S tier at least. It wasn't just that he defeated Zane and Jaden, but he also defeated the world champion of the Pro Leagues and had to get past his own Destiny Hero Plasma that was stolen from him to do it, and Jaden could not have won the tag duel against Sarina without his help. And he cleaned out a lot of duelists during the Genex tournament and could (and should have) have won the whole thing if he had actually been interested in it beyond finding the ultimate D. It was really sad how they just turned him into a dueling punching bag later just to make other characters look better than they were with no real development.
Because he was the most recent duelist to beat Jaden and established as one of the best pros on the circuit, Aster made for the perfect worf, which is sadly what he basically got relegated to for the rest of the series.
@Dan Costello That's so awful! And then when they made that version of him in Arc-V, he didn't even win once despite having better destiny hero support even! The only thing post-GX that did him some justice was the manga.
So true, Aster doesnt get enough credit
@tomato2517 After what they did to him eventually in GX and Arc-V, Aster deserves his own anime at this rate. With a modernized version of his deck.
Thanks for putting Jesse, Jim and Axel in the same tier group. They were some of my favourites
I love all your content but there is something just so inviting about these new Tier List videos! Keep up the great work! 💪
I'm glad I found season 4 back in the day. Jaden was a total badass in that last season. Instantly became my favorite yugioh protagonist ever.
I was genuinely surprised how jaden would pull out some wins like with the 5 headed dragons.
The last season felt dark as hell, like jaden would just run into duelists from the darkness at every turn
I remember watching it too when I was younger and the way it was so dark! Especially with Axel’s parents. Whew that was so dark.
I realized why Sam's rankings amuse me so much. Most of the ones I watch are multiple people or have a live chat going. Sam is just going back and forth with himself
1:21:40 Kaiba is actually one of the few humans who never fell/lost to Darkness. In season 4, darkness/Trueman is removing duelists off the face of the earth, removing their existence. Axel finds a chart that has people’s names on them that are still alive and names get erased as he watches. The only name that doesn’t disappear is Kaiba’s. At that time, Atticus, Jaden, Jesse, and a couple stragglers are the only ones on the planet.
Yugi should be in there right or was he removed? Yugi should be able to beat him.
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 I think that list were people who worked at Kaiba Corp.
I love how much effort and thought u put into this. It’s not some arbitrary guess or opinion you have facts and reason for every move
To be fair to Chumley you missed his duel with Crowler at the end of season 1. Where he definitely saw improvement. No more misplays and he almost wins. I'd put him in D honestly maybe even low C
The Clear, Darkness, and Doll archetypes definitely need to get support.
The Clear especially.
Remember the rematch between Jaden and Aster after Jaden got his Neos?
i firmly believe they had Sartorius be voiced by DIO for the sole purpose of him saying ZA WARLUDO when Sartorius play The World
Darkness/Trueman beats EVERYONE on the ENTIRE planet except Jaden/Judai and Kaiba.
Chazz: beats an entire school with random cards he found - C Tier, Average Duelist....
Chazz: beats majority of Duel Academy and converts them to Society of Light, snaps out of it, and Converts the majority of students back to normal and wins the entire Gen X tournament - B tier, slightly above average.
Chazz: beats Aster, one of the only people who defeated Jaden after he gets Plasma And Dragoon, practically beats Jaden and only threw to be an entertainer - only barely above Syrus...
....
I love your content man! Keep up the great stuff!
Nah, what's a bigger flex on the Prince is that Sartorius beat him on turn 0. 💀
Ojin VS Sartorius is a fun duel because Ojin has a strong OTK deck, but Sartorius is on a whole other level and claps his cheeks so hard they're red raw! Ojin goes first and uses a card to skip Sartorius' turn, but Sartorius pulls a Zero Turn Kill and wins without even getting his first turn.
Trueman is tough to rank because he doesn't really have his own deck, he turns the people he beats into more Truemans and uses their decks. He's basically Yu-Gi-Oh's version of Agent Smith.
You also forgot to mention the best part with Sartorius. Not only is he voiced by DIO, but one of his boss monsters is Za Warudo!
Franz is final boss material who ended up as a duelist of the week. He is interesting if you consider him as showing that OG era cards are beginning to be powercrept in GX.
After you do a 5DS tier list, I would love to see how you would compile all 3 of the OG series onto one list, though that would be a VERY difficult task; perhaps you could choose the top 50 or so from each era instead? Regardless, I love these videos, keep up the amazing work!! Also, since BBT is post-everything, I feel that BBT Jaden should be at the top of SS (and probably remove Present Yugi & Kaiba since they don't really do anything).
I think this is really interesting for Crowler, specifically, because thematically he isn't supposed to beat everyone. He's the gatekeeper for graduation, or at least one of them at this school. So he can't be A+ because then no one would graduate, keeping in mind that our protagonist characters are the "heroes" and not the average students. So he's forced to be a B tier duelist because his job requires him to be.
Hot take: Chazz should have beaten Jaden during the North Academy vs Duel Academy match
Another one: Blair should've beaten Chazz in Genex and become a prominent character when Alexis got erased by Bronn.
2nd take I can somewhat agree.
1st one. No way in hell.
Hot take bastion should have ended this arc early and just choose to beat chazz
@kaison12205 That is the coldest take you could have said. Bastion had that duel in the bag, and he only lost because the antagonist said “No, please don’t win.”
Bastion is almost the perfect duelist in the series. He comes up with a deck that will counter his opponent and win… if the plot didn’t say otherwise. If Bastion was a real person, he would probably be undefeated.
@@theomnigamer9177 Bastion is the closest thing to Batman we'll get in YGO - with enough prep time he manhandles everyone in the series who isn't protected by plot lmao
One thing that I don’t know if it’ll be brought up yet but I think is worth noting, Season 3 Jaden is completely avoiding the use of Polymerization because of what happened and he’s still able to win everything he does, so I think Jaden still managing to constantly win while not using the entire main point of his deck and his character is showing that he’s getting much much better as a duelist
Only lasted a few episodes and only two duels, technically.
Suggestion: Was Alexis about to defeat Jaden? [Heart Of Ice] I think she could've. If she just held her Stray Lambs in her hand, she could just tank her Dragon being destroyed, then Flare Neos goes back to Jaden's Extra Deck, Alexis draws a new monster and attacks for game! That's just what I'd love to see but still fantastic tier list bud!
One thing about Season 4 I hated was this giant gap they put between Jaden and pretty much everyone else not named Jesse. The entire dueling world gets off screen beaten by Trueman. OFF SCREEN, and Jaden proceeds to stomp the guy 3 duels in a row.
Felt insulting and belittling to the cast just to hype Jaden up more than he needed to be.
Zane S3 can be equal to Jaden S3 powered up by the supreme king. We get symmetry vs Jesse/Yubel, for both characters it comes down to 1 final quick play spell. Jaden gets Super Poly and Zane gets Cybernetic Zone dictating the outcome of the match. You can say a little about how Zane went in blind against Jesse/Yubel and Jaden didn't. Perfectly fine as a zane stan to say he's on that level. **puts him in SS anyway**
That's a good point, Konami really should put out a ruling to clear up the confusion on what the outcome of a duel is when one duelist fuses themself with their opponent.
Is it a tie because they're now technically the same person? Does the person who activated the effect win? Does the person who chose the materials win? Do both win because they're now the same person?
I would just like to say Jim Cook is a beast of a man this guy carries around a straight up crocodile on his back almost 24/7 either this man is buff as all h*** or in immense pain and hides it remarkably along with fossils being really fun.
So you're telling me, Kaibaman turned up, beat the main character of the show he was in, refused to elaborate further and then left? Are we sure this wasn't Seto Kaiba entering a new level of extra?
I’d move Kaiba just one more up above Darkness since his name wasn’t erased when everyone else’s was from Darkness
It was, but not at the same time as everyone else's when we see all the KC names but his disappear - before their duel, Darkness deadass tells Jaden he's the last person alive/not in Darkness, so it's pretty ominously hinted at that even Kaiba got assimilated (and let's be honest, we _know_ what his darkness would've been lmao).
Unless you believe his name wasn't erased because he wasn't actually on Earth anymore i.e he killed himself at the end of DSOD for that salty runback 😂
When was this? Was this during a scene in there??
@@dancostello4872 Does that mean even Yugi lost? That makes the scene even more scary!
I'm excited to see the 5Ds one. That one should be really fun.
Blair being B tier makes me happy.
Funny cause Tag Force 3 Blair would definitely be higher. But this isn't Tag Force video game world. This is anime.
So here, she's just okay. Shame cause she comes back and writing team didn't do anything with her. Feels bad man.
To be honest, they didn't do anything with most of the characters, most of the main cast barely dueled or were important to the story, only Jaden dueled and defeated the villains, even in duels that should belong to other characters due to their emotional weight, they put Jaden in, like the duel against Nightshroud that should have been Alexis's, the duel against Camula that should have been Syrus's, Chazz that was used as a guinea pig to show how strong the villain of the arc was and so on, and it only got worse when the new characters came along and they had to focus on them.
I mean, Atticus was said to be as good as Zane, if not better, and we never saw him in a serious duel and the few he had, he lost.
Tag Force 3 Blair with lightsworns carries hard
It would be super nice to see a video talking about the Light of Destruction vs the Gentle Darkness vs Night Shroud
Yugi and Kaiba are being called the best duelists all throughout the show, they deserve easy SS tier.
Even if it was a one time thing Chaz’s could have beaten Jaden in a season 4 duel but he was told to lose. I’d at least have him top of A rank
Judai has Yubel alongside him in Bonds Beyond time, is seen travelling the world and isn't depressed. So it definately takes place after the series finale.
I think what happened with Czar and Jesse is Jesse became top duelist of North Academy after Chazz beat Czar and also went back to Duel Academy
I wouldn’t mind a “was halldor about to defeat Yusei” video that duel was soooo good
Jaden BBT is after S4, Yubel is with him and he became happy got getter like at S1. No depresion.
I fully forgot about season 3 and majority of season 4 of GX looks like i will need to go back and rewatch it
Season 4 is really good.
BBT: only way it works timeline-wise is to be in-between seasons 3 & 5 for DM, post-series for GX, and early-mid season 2 for 5D's; if memory serves, just before Crashtown.
Jaden has won 78 duels, with only lost 3 official on-screen duels. That is absolutely insane. Jaden was nearly unstoppable from start to finish. Especially season 4. To me, he's S Tier throughout the entire show, and then SS in season 4.
I’d argue season 1 is top of A and everything after is S
I mean, he was the only one who dueled in the anime, so i expected him to have so many wins, if you take the amount of duels from everyone in the main cast and add them together, it doesn't even reach half of Jaden's numbers, GX was overly focused on him, only him dueled and defeated the villains. In the Shadow Riders arc more than half of them whre defeated by Jaden, even in duels he had nothing to do with, like the duel against Atticus that should belong to Alexis, the duel against Camula that should belong to Syrus
@@seiyajin8151 I mean it’s who you beat not how many total wins you have
"He was the only one dueled in the anime." Exactly why he's S Tier or higher in every season. He was the show.
My tier list in my opinion, goes like this. Jaden SS Tier , Zane, Aster, Jessie, Axel, the main villain's are S Tier. Everyone else is C Tier or lower. lol
@@kaison12205 Well, Chazz beat Aster and Jaden in season 4, so should he be higher in the tier list?
Lorenzo is ss tier, he's the three time video games champion
Edit:just wanted to add, GX is a different timeline from dsod, dsod follows manga continuity, GX follows anime continuity
IMO When Chazz uses the deck with random cards in North academy as well as a deck with monsters with less than 500 atk those should put him very high. It shows even with unfamiliar cards he can do a lot and completely destroy his opponents. And I just read some comments pointing out that he manhandled even more randoms off screen during the society of light arc.
Alexis is an overall worse duelist imo. She only beats rejects and her win against Chazz S1 is because Chazz wasn't trying his best he was using love cards instead of going all out. She absolutely isn't better than Chazz.
1:01:35 Sam, I don't think you took into consideration just how good Axel actually was. Supreme king Judai didn't beat axel, they drew and for all intents and purposes Axel should have won his first duel against Jaden earlier in season 3, but was ordered to prolong and forfeit by Viper. He's every bit as good as S3 Jaden.
DSOD happens in the DM manga continuity, GX happens in the DM anime continuity, so Kaiba isn't the DSOD Kaiba he is post anime Kaiba.
Also, I'm not sure how the sub duel went between Adrian and Yubel/Jesse but in the dub it looked like he gave trouble to Yubel so why he didn't reach bottom S?
Oop.
KAIBA was the ONLY person other than Jaden left in the world when Darkness took over the world. Hes seen as still active on the security monitor. To put Kaiba below Jaden or Darkness without evidence is fuckinh CRIMINAL.
Great list. Looking forward to 5d's.
Also idk if anyone suggested it. However would you ever do a video on the spyral deck series?
The end of g x Cyrus should be above Zane. And I know that hurts to hear but Zane himself says that Cyrus has surpassed him
I am glad somebody else likes the clear world deck. I have made a real life copy of both clear world and infinity zero decks from season 4. I loved that season and it's decks so mucj
Omg! This was so enjoyable that I thoroughly watched the entire thing!🙌❤️
You mentioned that girls are automatcially put into obelisk blue when accepted, I remember there being at least a few female ra yellow students in some of the crowd shots.
Upon googling, I didn't find any of the shots in the stadium I was remembering, but ther eis a screen cap of some festival going on in episode 41 that I've apparently completely forgotten about that does show a female Ra Yellow student in the background. Thought I remember seeing Slifer Red female students, but they never appeared when showing any shots of the dorm, and I'm not finding any images proving my memory. (and who knows, maybe they changed that later on, and that shot from season 1 was 1 of the last times.
All female are Obelisk Blue. Only exception is Blair who was Slifer Red.
The """Ra Yellow""" girls you see in ep1 and a later episode are either staff, or background, or only exist to pretend there's a standard.
Until Tag Force. All Obelisk Blue Girls are terrible. Poster child is Jasmine and Mindy.
Bastion keeps losing to things that invoke his lust
My thoughts on Damon: he doesn't gain "Destiny Draw" or any supernatural abilities, I think he just develops such a deep and profound knowledge of every detail of his cards that he always knows what a card is without seeing the front. His flashback demonstrates that he can identify cards based on sight alone, and for his draw deck he can probably tell what a card is based on how it feels too.
But he's not perfect, and so he can guess wrong. If he had The Heart of the Cards, he'd have been right (unless that power decided to forsake him right when he needed it for no reason). Plus the HotC isn't going to help him pull sandwiches (but the same skill to tell his cards apart will help him identify how a particular sandwich feels and is wrapped).
I don't know, I think it _is_ more of an instinctive 'in tune with nature' kind of thing (for want of a more accurate description) because in the duel with Jaden, he predicts everything right by seemingly tuning in or whatever (even with Jaden's deck, & he has no prior knowledge of its content or cards' physical details) except in one instance - he predicts Shield Crush, not because he tunes in (he notably doesn't) but because he recognises it as the card in his deck which would let him destroy Wroughtweiler so he could go for game with Drawler.
So he gets tunnel vision & calls Shield Crush without actually doing his nature tune-in thing, which is ironic because he never realised that if he _had_ just tuned in (& called Doron when he saw it), he'd have won anyway through Miracle Draw's effect Obviously it was a plot contrivance but rather funny that he loses as soon as he deviates from instinctive to strategic.
Just a suggestion for future tier lists where you rank characters: you could make a "won't rank because there is not enough data/duels" for all the forgettable, not important characters that only duelled once.
Side notes: Season 2 Chazz wins the GX Tournament beating tons of students in the process. I think you are not giving him enough credit. Furthermore, to answer your question: GX takes place after DSOD.
Still, great video, can't wait to see the other rankings.
I rly would have love it when in GX Mokuba would have been one of the students especially as a counter point to Syrus with them bothe beeing little brothers of highly skilled and intimedating duelists but were Syrus is clumsy and shy, Mokuba always seemed to be competent and confident i think he could have taught Syrus a lot.
Season 2 Zane really was on that, "Then something just snapped, something inside of me. 'No! No more! That's it! I don't care!' I didn't care anymore."
I am still waiting and looking forward to this kind of tier list for 5ds, Sam!
I can't wait to see how this evolves for 5Ds and beyond! Love these rankings :)
I’m ready for the arc-v list and seeing how he rates past series characters among the arc-v characters
I dunno. Chazz would have beaten Jaden in S4, but Aster's manager told him to throw it. He had the duel on lock with Chthonian Polymer.
Can't wait for the 5D's character tier list!
Pretty much agree with everything said in this video, except for how you said Chazz was easily beaten by Adrian. Chazz put up a really good fight against him even though he ultimately lost.
I'm pretty sure that if DSOD is canon then the Kaiba who shows up in GX is after that movie.
Also didn't Darkness beat like the entire world except for Jaden?
You're right. Everyone got consumed by nightshroud.
@@phantomknight0015 would that mean then that darkness should be above Yugi?
I think you did Chazz post-S1 dirty, he's routinely shown to beat multiple duelists at a time including the entirety of North Acadamy and the entirety of the remaining Obelisk Blue and Ra Yellow students at once/back to back. I think he's A tier from S2 on.
So funny story about season 4 as the darkness and it’s forces start to beat everyone and erase them you see the names of Kaiba corp. employees beating erased but the only one they couldn’t beat was Seto Kaiba himself
Can't wait for the 5D's tier list!!!
You're doing Yubel SO dirty it's unreal. She beat Zane, beat the guy who beat Aster and destroyed Jaden. That's literally the big 3 in the show ALL got owned. And her destruction of Jaden's like 10x more insane because she doesn't even just win, she plays toward a very specific gamestate and forced draw then plays towards ANOTHER very specific gamestate and accomplishes it all. She can humiliate Jaden like that but Jaden can keep up with Yugi no problem implies she's ranked 1 on the entire list.
Im kinda hoping youll one day do a best yugioh monster summoning animation ranked from best to worst, like when atem summons the egyptian gods against yugi
Thing is, you could make a LOT of arguments about S2 Cyrus. Because his win against Dino was lynched against Dino not activating a card that would've shut down Cyrus' infinite loop.
But by contrast, his loss against was partial due to the shock collar gimmick, & that impairing his judgement across the duel.
So yeah, his S2 duels have a lot of speculations attatched.
