Agreed. I had someone talk me into using an iPad to record it -- and the resulting compression was disappointing. By the time I heard it, I was out of practice and unable to return to the project.
That piece was written by a prog rock band called Dream Theater. If you look for their live rendition of it, you'll certainly find yourself absolutely amazed by their astounding musicianship.
Hi Jon, this is absolutely incredible. The Dance of eternity this is one of the most complex peaces in the history of modern music. I can imagine how many hours of practice and effort it took to build the transcription and then to learn it. I can play the piano since the age of 5, but this is definitely the piece I will never be able to learn being way beyond the complexity of Octavarium. Congratulations!
Thanks so much, Lénárd! I performed a lot of complex contemporary music in college (Ives, Messiaen, etc.) but I always loved playing tough prog music by ear. This piece I decided to go all the way with, transcribing and perfecting. Thanks again!
Maaan this is so close to the real thing. Really astonishing and great work playing this song. You really are a professional. This is in pair with what Jordan plays. The most well done cover on youtube for this song. I would like to listen to other complex instrumental parts of Dream Theater from You.
Love your performance and orchestration. Your commitment to this project demonstrates your passion and appreciation for the music. I really enjoyed it. Love is the dance of eternity.
Is incredible how to sound in piano version, it sounds how to high performance of classical music, i note that dream theater are excellents musicians, thanks to you!!
Amazing arrangement, having to account for all the parts with just the two hands! The use of the very low piano notes to simulate the distorted guitar jabs is interesting. And you reminded me of the very first time I heard this song, the amazement that it had somehow transmuted into a ragtime for eight bars and then switched back as if nothing had happened!

Haha this is amazing. Congratulations. I can never imagine having the rigour to learn a song that complex in its entirety. Hope you got some rest after filming this :)

@@jonsaboe5372yes I checked it out and it's really good :) I just didn't know that song before, I must say... For real, how long did it take you to learn each of these?
Jordan would be proud of this performance
Outstanding. This piece deserved higher quality mic. Well done mate.

Pretty impressive performance of such a hell of a difficult piece!
Congrats on both the playing and the transcription mate 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
You're an amazing pianist and arranger! Thank you and congratulations for investing your time in this masterpiece from Dream Theater!
Thank you so much, Céline!
Wow, Jon! Incredible. What was the composer trying to do, write a piece that was unplayable? But you nailed it. Way to go!

It’s Prog, baby! Skilled musicians can definitely nail this song

Pretty sure that was exactly their thought process. There’s like a hundred time signature changes in here (not exaggerating)

Same here. I just love the structure of this piece! Beethoven Piano Sonata 32 has a brief ragtime sounding section as well.

Do you play the keyboard parts or something else?
Jon: yes
It is a piano transcription of all of the parts -- to the best of my ability. Not able to do much of the drums, tho. :-)
@@jonsaboe5372 No problem about that, Sir, cause we're all air drumming to it 😁

Brilliant pianists. ...more then rudess
Thanks so much!
How much time did it take you to prepare for this?
Hi! I had some time every week at the music studio -- just a little over a year.
Arrangement deserves respect, but performance is raw, too far from public playing.
Agreed. I had limited time and eventually had to settle for what I could do -- my recording options were quickly disappearing. Thanks!
Sound quality is so poor, not worth to listen.
Go listen to something else then
