The city of Mainz, Germany is on the Rhine River. It’s known for its old town, with half-timbered houses, narrow lanes, cobblestone streets and medieval market squares.
Mainz was founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC as a military fortress on the northernmost frontier of the empire and provincial capital of Germania Superior. Mainz became an important city in the 8th century AD as part of the Holy Roman Empire, capital of the Electorate of Mainz and seat of the Archbishop-Elector of Mainz, the Primate of Germany. We are going to walk around the old town of Mainz mainly to visit the Mainz cathedral and St. Stephan’s church which is known for Chagall’s blue stained glass windows.

Thank you sooooo much for the positive feedback. It really means a lot to me. I also love listening to church bells. The churches/cathedrals here in Germany have really interesting history. This cathedral is one of the 3 Imperial Cathedrals along the Rhine River. The other 2 are Worms City Cathedral and Speyer City Cathedral. Those ones on the stairs are Fall offerings, harvest from the farms ex.pumpkins.

I love the Old Town areas of some of Germany cities. They always have the big square. The architecture of the buildings is beautiful. Great job on the tour of this city, you should us so much.
