hi priya, I need your help. I'm planning to start my master degree at RWTH Aachen next year, and I need some help and advices for the application. Can I write you in private somewhere? Thanks in advance.
I enjoyed a holiday there last Summer. I took the Eurostar from London to Brussels, then the train to Aachen. I enjoyed the historic buildings and the art museum. I took trips to Dusseldorf and the 3 countries point too.
And at the town's boarder you can climb the highest mountain of the Netherlands and visit the three country point between Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, which used to be a four-country point, which is another story to explore...
I especially enjoy your reviews of German cities. College towns and architecture make a good combination. Your presentation is the best as it feels I am there with you. I am from the USA but I have traveled to Germany several times. Great place to visit.
I study here. Perfect University City. Not too big, not too small. An ideal European town. Close to cologne. The student semester ticket allow us to travel in the whole NRW state and to Some extends of Netherlands also.
@@bacharrommani3442as far as i know they do but it’s more expensive if you’re going for an English taught rather than German taught and if you can’t speak fluent German it’ll be more expensive! I’m studying German rn and hopefully I can study Business or Politics/Social Sciences in Germany soon!
Well, it's most often called "RWTH Aachen", or if you are in Aachen just "TH" "Rheinisch Westfälisch Technische Hochschule" literally translates to "Rhine (a near river) Westfalia (the area of Germany Aachen is in) technical University", in case you wanted to know
@@julian16180 Aachen is located in the Rhineland, not Westphalia. Apart from that I agree, "RWTH" or "TH Aachen" is sufficient to identify the university.
❤ Aachen for Part 1, super helpful info for student options and definitely super cool, dignified music festival! I wonder if Heidelberg will be featured in the next parts... 😁
Aachen is a lovely place, and it's nice to see Yara. We used to be in the same voluntary group. I lived there for almost 5 years and studied at the RWTH. Moreover, I crossed the Kármán-Tor and still graduated :D The Aachener Rathaus is still my favorite building in Germany.
I am from India, ceiling paintings and tainted glasses is seen here. Even Ajanta caves have painted ceiling which is said to be more than 4000 years old, though not in great condition.
Hey, I am a Tech student, currently on the verge of graduating in ECE from a central university in India. I am very passionate and curious about studying in Germany, particularly in RWTH Aachen University. So, is there anyone up here from India, doing his/her Masters or PhD in the same university, or atleast in or around Aachen. Please help me with this one 🖐🏼
I was born in Kolkata, India. I have been working in SAP for 10 years and came to Germany 1 year ago. I can firmly state, that Indian universities are good with a different educational structure. The fact the she was meritorious enough to crack it in RWTH speaks volumes about the primary education in India. And being in Germany for 2 years, she should have known that in Germany there is no concept of University rankings. All Universities are good, albeit some better than the others in terms of size and no. of courses offered. I dont see any point in demeaning the Indian system. I would just see it as different than Germany. Oh and whats with the fake accent?
Is this really an objective documentary. Aachen is not bad but the quality of living in Aachen definitely cant compare to just Maastricht, that is 30 min away.... Aachen had it's great days in the 80s and 90s. Maybe till about 2005. The last years Aachen is only a shodow of itself and the quality of living is sinking fast there
2:35 Does she have an ankle band that prevents her from leaving the city or something...? 🙄 10:00 And how often will she have to explain to people she really isn't German? 😁
As a regular citizen the title really triggers me. First of all renting a place here is hard because of lots of competition by cheap students with rich parents. Second thing Aachen Campus is famous for its machine engineering which attracts way more men than women so if you are a young local guy you have to compete with 2 other guys for 1 girl. And then theres tons of brown migrants especially in the city center where you can really forget in what country you are. Sometimes its africa, but most times Iraq and Afghanistan.
Aachen is miserable for students for a campus of its size. With about 60.000 students it should have been a much cooler place but it manages to combine the overly hard uni with a very boring life. That's the opinion of most ppl I've known there during my studies
For the love of god DO NOT COME HERE massive sausage fest as well as just a very boring city with surprisingly mediocre student life! Also if you can't speak dutch and french it's very isolated as your only link with the rest of germany is an hour long train ride to cologne or düsseldorf. And getting to liège and maastricht also takes an hour even if you can speak all those languages! It's a pretty good uni, especially for engineering with lots of choices and specializations, but the disadvantages i mentioned make it a terrible city! Also, it's just really ugly with no nice river to chill. A student from maastricht told me unprompted to my face how ugly aachen is!
the cathedral and the rathaus are pretty, but outside of the extremely small historic center, the city is ugly, depressing and boring, the architecture is at most decent and people are extremely rude, not to mention that it's extremely unsafe during the night, lots of drug addicts and violent people on the street
The approach of making is video is proof in itself why not to come to Germany. According to law, all individuals must give their consent to appear on this type of openly available videos, yet in the last section involving the metal concert, nobody was asked for consent to do close ups, and you notice they only do it to foreigners (I am one of them). This is done mainly because de-facto foreigners have a harder time enforcing their rights since the supervisory institutions of the country refuse to give support to those cases. Thats why abuse and racism against foreigners seems to be low in statistics, because it hardly gets recorded by autorities (and mind you here we are talking about institutional abuse from the goverment)
We have no intention of disturbing or hurting anyone with our filming or through our videos. If you appear in one of our videos and do not wish to do so, please let us know. We can then see if we can remove the scene with you afterwards. We hope you continue to enjoy our content. Best regards!
@@DWTravel I already made that request through RUclips platform months ago but to nobody's surprise you claimed no privacy protection was trespassed. So I really cannot buy your "good intentions" with this comment.
@@DWTravel Simply delete scenes showing faces from the metal concert, because you didnt ask the participants for recording consent in this event at all, from this and all versions of this video in other languages (I know at least there is a spanish one). *Everybody* deserves their right to privacy to be respected, not only the people who caught DW trespassing their rights.
@@AlonsoQuijanoP We can't ask everyone at a bigger event if he or she agrees. There would simply be something missing from the coverage if we couldn't show people's reactions at a concert. We won't remove all the close-ups. If you specifically request it, we will do so with yours, but we need to know which one it is. Best regards
There are less young women because RWTH is more for engineering, material science and CS students. And most of the City is filled by students. Also rain is beautiful.
Very true! This needs to be mentioned every time aachen is brought up. It's just awful there. Though i think uni in general is highly overrated because it's not the fun time you're lead to believe.
It was really fun to take you guys around my city! Thanks for featuring me. Great video. Love from Aachen ❤
We thank you. You were a perfect tour guide. Best regards!
You did give a good briefing & walk-through. We now have a clear idea on the Uni of Aachen.
