There really is no such think, you just need moisture + cold, the colder the air the drier the air. Moisture is the key, I lived in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Alaska. I just don't know if there is a case where there is moisture and cold with lifting and it doesn't. This is facebook, so likely wrong.

Girl, welcome to S Indiana. Here’s how our winters pan out: 1) if there is snow, it only falls at night so you can’t even enjoy the ambiance of it, you just get to wake up at 0’dark 30 and drive to work on unplowed roads… or 2) the swath of pink (Ice) Ryan showed is what we get most of all…S Indiana is always in the ice swath, and the cut off line for ice is usually Interstate 64. North of it, you get snow, South of it, you get ice. Then your power goes out due to ice heavy lines, which in this part of the state are mainly on poles above ground. If you happen to live in an area that has underground power lines, then the lines feeding them are up on a pole somewhere and you’ll lose power anyway. You don’t need a snow shovel, you need Ice melt so go get some and start spreading it or you’ll bust your butt the second you step out your door. We are the Ohio Valley except in winter, we are Ice Valley. Good luck. 😊
