B-Komachi is the name of Ai's Idol group, I honestly also forgot about that detail when I got to this episode and was like "wait, was Ai's Idol group named A-Komachi? So with ruby being the second Idol group she named it B-Komachi?"
There is a psychologist that said that due to the fact that since his mind has to develop again is enough reason for him to be considered as a different person just with a previous life's memories (and trauma).
I think your take on Aqua's character is a pretty good one, actually. Because I think it's worth noting that that 16 yr old body is still pumping out 16 yr old hormones on top of his social position and power still being that of a teenager's. So effectively he's just a really smart 16 yr old. He probably just has an "I'm not like everybody else" complex to those around him because he identifies as being older. I can kinda relate to that idea to an extent because growing up I switched between a poor house and a wealthy house due to custody issues and so I kinda felt like I had a more mature perspectives on things because I had the life of both a poor and a rich kid, when in fact I was just another stupid kid like everybody else. In the same way Aqua might feel entitled due to his past memories but was just in fact another teen that just has better foresight than most.
I do wanna kinda put in my two cents on Aqua's feelings towards Ai here. You're absolutely right that his feelings aren't in the realm of romantic towards her, and he is aware of this, but he *absolutely* idolizes Ai and pedastalizes her as this untouchable, unattainable mark of perfection. It's why he's so down on himself on his own abilities, because he compares himself to Ai who, in his mind, is a genius beyond compare. It's actually kind of a fun like, side by side between his obsession with Ai and Ruby's. Ruby has a lot of the same views Aqua does, but sees them (Ai's skills and success) as a goal to strive for, while Aqua sees them as unobtainable by everyone, like stars in the heavens. Idk, flip sides on the views marred by obsession, it's neat
Your take on aqua being 16 w older memories is actually how a psychologist analyzing the show puts it. Intellectually, he is like 40. but developmentally, physically, his brain is still 16. Psych also says that he gets plenty of kid patients that claim to be old souls, but that it doesn't really change how he approaches them. They still have the physical limitations of their brain not being fully developed. They are still kids, and need to be treated as such for treatment to be successful. And honestly, with how they're portrayed as babies in the first episode, it's implied that they do have the limitations any kid would (needing naps, not being able to control their bodily functions, childish impulsivity, you get the idea).
10:52 You know what's actually funny Alicia? Is MEMcho actually did stream on youtube, with a vtuber avatar, more than once, like 5 or so months ago, on the official Oshi no Ko channel.
I hope she saw enough people telling her to brace herself for episode 6. If she has seen it by now, lots of virtual hugs and support. It's a hard episode.
You actually hit the nail on the head with Aqua's personality. It most likely won't be seen this season, but his old life is usually depicted as a separate entity within his consciousness. People sometimes accuse him of acting like an old man, but he simply has a set of values from DECADES ago. As an example, in mushoku tensei, Rudeus' inner monologues use his old voice since that is who he is on the inside, but in this series Aqua's inner thoughts are his current voice. He is a different person now than he was in his past life.
I do think Aqua is 16 with memories of his old life. Otherwise it’s like saying Ruby will forever be 12, when she’s clearly not. She’s more innocent and pure than Aqua, probably due to being young and having a young soul, but it’s also the result of her being in the other side of the door when Ai died. Aqua has a lot of trauma that neither his old self had nor Ruby, simply from witnessing Ai’s murder.
1:57 That's fair. That's the approach the (female) author of ascendance of a bookworm speaks about her character. That's another anime with tons of babies, I don't know if you watched but it's really good
1:46 That's what I do, personally! It's honestly more fascinating to think of him like that anyway, imo. It's like Aqua's caught in a huge identity crisis because of his past life memories and his current life's trauma. 27:53 LOL
B-Komachi is Ai's idol group, Ruby is reviving it by taking it's name and honoring her mother, her goal is to perform at the Dome that Ai was going to and if she does it with a group of the same name it makes it feel like she fulfilled Ai's dream for her.
It took me rewatching this to realize what Pieyon's name means. It's a mixture of P.E. For physical education, Piyo which is the japanese onomatopoeia for noises baby chicks make, and Pyon which is a suffix usually used when people are trying to sound cute. That is a hilariously well put together name, I like him even more than I did already.

I really like your input of the other side of the entertainment industry. Your pov really added a buck load of information to my non-existent consumer brain 😂
6:18 if it wasn’t explained why it’s that way it’s because of what isekai means. Isekai translates to “another world” or “otherworld” which is why people don’t consider this an isekai. That being said one could make the argument that because the life of an idol/lives of an idol’s children is so different than that of a normal person it is a different world especially for Ruby and Aqua
There isn't really THE safe space, only a safe space for some certain group. As someone who does not agree with your beliefs, this is an unsafe space for me. Well, I'm here for an adventure I guess, so its ok.
I wasn't on board with treating aqua like a teenager, until i watched a psychologist react to this show and he brought up the points of having clients who come in who are physically young, but due to trauma or other factors have been forced to become mature beyond their age. Do you treat that client as a child or an adult? And of course you'd treat them as a child because regardless of their temperment, their brains are still not fully developed
16yo with a 30yo's memories is correct for Aqua, he even said during episode 3 that the reason he doesn't seem creepy in universe anymore is that his mental and physical age match, that the reason he was able to seem so creepy as a child actor is that his mental and physical ages were mismatched. It's like how you stop feeling braces when you've worn them for a month, how the tint disappears from tinted glasses while you wear them; if you swapped bodies and swapped how you act, you as a person will change to fit that new self, even if there's a sense of "before"
5:50 There's actually a prominent meme about Ai being reincarnated. People believe that in order for Ai to reincarnate, Aqua and Ruby would both have to be the parents. Weird Twinscest theory.
After that scene I think Kana Arima has a bipolar personality disorder. Just check the difference between 3:12 wholesome Kana and 3:36 badmouth Kana. 😂 Great reaction!😃
1:46 Nice. I think you'd be able to enjoy the story much more with that outlook. Fiction requires open-minded suspense of disbelief in order to immerse oneself. Trying to "correct" the characters or events denies the author's/creator's purpose and effort. I'm so glad you and so mamy others arw finding Oshi no Ko to be an enjoyable journey. I can not imagine where the story endw ip going, and that make me feel so lucky and enthusiastic!
I know this video is a month old, but let me elaborate (like probably hundreds already have. Isekai translates to "Another World" Tensei translates to Reborn or Reincarnated.
4:10 "She was sixteen in her passed life and shes physically sixteen now, so shes sixteen" Disregarding the fact thats she was actually younger making your statement incorrect You admit that she has a past life and has lived up to this one to the age of 16 yet your dont add her years together. Is it because shes a woman You're so quick and eager to tell everyone rudys 40+ and aquas 30-50+ but sarena is not 32???? 🤔
"Isekai" literally means "another world" in Japanese, so whenever someone talks about an "isekai" anime, it's always an anime about the protagonist being aware that he's in a different world to where he was before. The reason why a lot of the new anime viewers always mistake "isekai" as "reincarnation" is simply because that the writers of "isekai" anime were too lazy to think of a good reason for the protagonist to be transferred from his original world to a new one, so they always just kill him off and give some stupid reasons like "Oh look, you're the 100,000th person to have died in a car crash, so let's reward you by sending you to another world". Tldr the reincarnation trope is overused to justify the beginning of an "isekai" anime.

5:50 There's actually a prominent meme about Ai being reincarnated. People believe that in order for Ai to reincarnate, Aqua and Ruby would both have to be the parents. Weird Twinscest theory.
B Komachi is her Mother, Ai, Idolgroups name.
The group name is the name of her mom's group from before under the same company.
Alicia in our hearts you're already a vtuber idol lol
Should have an eye tracker during Pieyon dance lol
Yey, another awesome reaction video :3
Keep it up, I love your reactions!

Yes Queen! You can be an Idol!!!
Isekai means something along the lines of “Another Workd”.
1:54 Yes, that's very fair.
B-Komachi

the same name as her mom's idol group
I know this video is a month old, but let me elaborate (like probably hundreds already have.
Isekai translates to "Another World"
Tensei translates to Reborn or Reincarnated.
1:50 Totes fair!
4:10
"She was sixteen in her passed life and shes physically sixteen now, so shes sixteen"
Disregarding the fact thats she was actually younger making your statement incorrect
You admit that she has a past life and has lived up to this one to the age of 16 yet your dont add her years together.
Is it because shes a woman
You're so quick and eager to tell everyone rudys 40+ and aquas 30-50+ but sarena is not 32????
🤔
Chicken guy best character in the series 😄
Yeah she already stream as vtuber in their official channel
37:27 B-komachi is her mom group name......
The curtain of wire may cover
The setting of the sun
Take comfort my sisters and brothers
The chicken man will come!
i love this episode so much! and ofc the show and this reaction!
B Komachi is the name of AI group!
Dude was joking about motorboating a guy's pecks but also talking about hating occasional sexist comments ... Tsk tsk tsk
Yeah for real
Can't wait for the Ant self-insert episode
On a physical level, Aqua is indeed 16. No ammount of experience as an adult will stop hormones and teenage stuff.
