I didn't realize the engine came from the RS spyder. A 17 year old engine basically. You couldn't ask for a more proven engine and basis to be working off of. In the racing world to be using anything in any capacity that is 17 years old is unheard of. Especially with the advances in power train in recent years.

In thinking about your comment, I tried to come up with another manufacturer who has re-used older engines for LM prototypes. I can confidently say Toyota were doing this too, up until last year. The V8 from their TS040 LMP was sourced originally from the Super GT 500 class Supra, which first saw use in I believe 2003. However, your point for the most part stands, as I cannot think of another

@@roadbeefBMW is repurposing their old DTM engines for their LMDh too, but I don’t think that engine has been around as long as Porsches
