My dad was a professional/competitive roller skater in the 1950s and 60s. Out of st louis area. Was a big deal....I have movies, costumes, trophies, programs from all of it. He could do all the stuff ice skaters did......jumps and spins into his late 40s. So I love this too.

I thought the same but then decided it’s best as it is. Once things get on a national competitive level it takes the fun out of it. Everything gets critiqued and it becomes almost robotic like figure skating. I love watching figure skating but I’d rather watch this more because it just isn’t so much pressure to have a perfect performance it’s more of a freestyle it seems.

WE certainly are. We truly are TRENDING SETTERS. It just grieves me when SOME black men (and women) uses their talent for things that are wrong and causes damage not just to themselves but leave a “dark mark” on the whole race (skin color). Have you ever noticed that WHATEVER “WE” do ( and I am talking about the stylist tends/things POSITIVE) eventually the whole world tries to imitate it? We truly, like I said, are TREND SETTERS

Ballroom Skating without a doubt deserves to be showcase Nationally and internationally! I agree Ballroom Skating is here to stay! Like every fine wine, the best in enjoy when it’s been decades of development in the bottle, but when it’s ready , everyone who has enjoyed it smoothness, quality and consistency is rewarded and lifted wanting more. We more ball-roomers to teach ballroom! Sense STL Ballroom was originally created , we need them to do what it takes to send Ballroom Skating internationally. They could form a Ballroom Skating Association and reach out to all the major rinks across America.

@@808onSK8z I got my skates. I used to go all the time, then I got older and realized, I can't just pop back up like a jack in the box after a fall 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Hitting that floor might put me out of commission for a few weeks 🤣🤣 I got my skates though and I'm about to get some elbow and knee pads...maybe some butt pads too 🤣🤣

This is just a guess… The way they roll in STL, they practice it (ballroom style) almost every day. I believe they’re just so well versed in this art, that they can skate to just about anything, at any time. 🙏🏾

4/14/2024: Yes, true BUT it would take the FUN out of it. These couples are so smooth and graceful. Just absolutely BEAUTIFUL ON EVERY LEVEL.
