  • The cherry trees along the Meguro River stretch for about 4 kilometers, boasting over 800 cherry blossoms in full bloom during spring. Planted by Saigo Tsunenori and others in the Edo period, the riverbanks were later shaped by shoreline reinforcement works in the early Showa era. With each reinforcement project, more cherry trees were planted, totaling approximately 830 trees today. Originally known as the 'Akuharitori River,' the Meguro River served as a cleansing spot for pilgrims visiting the Meguro Fudoson Temple. Alongside the picturesque views of the Meguro River, numerous events and festivals are held during the cherry blossom season.
