I was almost certain Kentucky would roll right over these guys. I've never even heard of the Peacocks. But it's called March madness for a reason.
I legit thought people were joking when they mentioned the Peacocks and March Madness. I'm like "Who?" Lol.

We're winning this season and next season. This season's team is good but wait till we unleash that team in 2023. Wagner and Dillingham is going to be the greatest backcourt since Fox and Monk. This St. Peter's game was the greatest thing that ever happened for the entire state of New Jersey.
The game that sparked a historic Elite 8 run

It was an easy run though, SEC and Big Ten turned out to be overrated that year

i love the fact that after they won they game the st peters coach told them to to go back to the bench and just celebrate over there not on the court
That's because they weren't satisfied with just winning one game.

All Hail to the King of all 15 seeds baby - The Saint Peter's Peacocks!
I cried when they started hitting free shots
I’m tears are the best
Tough loss especially for the first game in the tournament. Better to win it all next season then!!
That was the funniest 💩I had ever seen. Felt sorry for the crying kid but when the announcer said you can feel the madness it gave me goosebumps. I love a Cinderella story and I can’t stand the Kentucky fans. They think they are just owed the championship every year and they were shook. I loved it when they put the camera on their fans 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I live in Kentucky and I can’t wait to see UK lose the first or second round in the tournament
@@interlude44 I’m also in Kentucky and it’s a shame I can’t root for my state but the fans are so annoying!
It's tragic how injuries to the entire backcourt reduced a Kentucky team that had already blown out both teams that eventually made it to the national championship game to a messy first round loss. But St. Peter's took advantage of their opportunity. That's why they play the games.
Jesus Loves You
I remember where I was at when this game happened. I was with my mom praying that Kentucky would win. I’m a Michigan fan but live in kentucky so I had to root for the home team, but sadly they became first round exits.
Bruh this ref calling the worst calls to start the game. Two BS foul calls on Ndefo and some lame travel calls💀
Ye it felt like they where tryna get saint peters gone but it ain’t work😭
As not being a Kentucky I'm sending this link to a few friends
In 2022, the best team in Kentucky was from Jersey City, New Jersey.
Post Michigan State vs Duke full game
Until this game, John Calipari (as a coach) had not lost in the Round of 64 since 2003 (#7W Memphis lost to #10W Arizona St, who was then defeated by runner up Kansas).
But he also failed to even make the NCAA tournament and then lost in the opening round of the NIT to Robert Morris. With massive talent he also went 9-16, an astoundingly bad, historically bad record. Given the talent he has gotten and how little he has done with it he is the worst coach in basketball.
@@Ofinfinitejest Frankly, I think this was above UMBC’s win over Virginia because year end and year out Kentucky is picked to win the SEC (and to contend for a title) basically every year (2010-11, Florida was the preseason pick) since Calipari arrived in 2009.
@@251to502 Virginia was the favorite to win It that year, this is still a crazy upset but there has only been 1 16 seed upset ever, that's the better one

Bro i chose kentucky to win the bracket and that same night davante adams went to the raiders no lie I cried myself to sleep
Boo hoo 😂😂😂😂😂
lets gooo jujuuuuuu!!!
Biggest upset in NCAA tournament history given the talent disparity. Calipari is the worst coach in history given his results with the talent he has gotten out of high school.
Also the only talent he got from high-school was Tyty Washington
Regarding the first point, I 100% agree because year end and year out since his arrival at Rupp Arena, Calipari has been lauded by national pundits because of young talent and has been proclaimed highly under this notion of the most talented youthful team winning a title (which almost never happens without older players - in 2011-12 he had Darius Miller who was a freshman in Gillespie’s final year). Duke tried the same thing in 2018-19 and came out flat only to survive twice and have it catch up with them in the Elite 8.
@@251to502 given the talent disparity it’s definitely top 2 yall remember the other one right if not let me refresh yall memory it involved a cavalier and a retriever (ruclips.net/video/snISurWcFo8/видео.html
@@faiththomas1749 While seedwise, that was the biggest upset, I would give Saint Peter’s a very slight edge.
Virginia overachieved (unranked in preseason, first overall #1 seed since expansion to 68 to be unranked in preseason), and similar to Georgetown (losing to FGCU in 2013) they relied heavily on controlling tempo/keeping the score low which at some point was going to bite them especially if perimeter shots weren’t falling.
@@251to502 agreed both talent and seed wise both were absolute brilliance you had the following
2 schools ( Virginia and Kentucky ) thinking they had the game in the bag
2 schools ( Maryland Baltimore - County , St.peters ) not counting their chickens before they hatched
The latter 2 finding a way to upset all the apple trees in the world
CINDERELLA LIVES!
Besides St. Peter , Name 📛 another Saint.
1-6 from the Free Throw line is crazy. Wheeler choked this.
Should’ve fired Cal the next day
As a UK fan, this one stung a bit, but at least we weren't a 1 seed losing to a 16
Still a major upset
If I didn’t know better, I would think this was a denial game to prevent John Calipari and Matt Painter (who have never met) from facing each other.
Man I should’ve known about UK’s lack of quality PG play
If not for Saint Peter’s upsetting Kentucky, Kansas would not have passed Kentucky for most wins all-time
Well it happened and we won another title along the way.

1:15:19, feels like that was the beginning of the end for UK, the bad pass/catch and turnover. It all went downhill from there. Should have never lost this game, but alas, it is after all March Madness.
I'm not even gonna watch the rest, I remember it well. Go CATS! #9 would be fine.
They really fixed their wagons huh? Matthew Lee of Saint Peters is the son of Butch Lee of the winning 1977 Marquette University Championship team ALA Dwayne Wade.

Honestly you should have lost to Kansas in 2012 you got lucky
I think what happened in 2008 is what flipped the script for Calipari in 2012. Kansas had so many close calls that tournament (except Detroit and North Carolina without Kendall Marshall).
As for 2022, I had Kansas cutting down the nets because they looked like the most composed team despite all the hoopla and attention surrounding Gonzaga, Arizona, Kentucky and Duke (Coach K’s final year).
I agree. Duke was incredibly skillful but just too young, and Kansas just looked so put together. And UNC barely even got into the tournament, I’m strangely proud of that team for doing what they did but I never really thought they had a shot, just too many injuries, too shallow of a bench, and too inconsistent.
as a KU fan, that UK team was better than that KU team...I was happy to even see them get that far
How the fk? We OWNED you the entire game! Take a seat young man and prepare for your inevitable early exit this year.

Gonna be like this next week for UK;) oh well
Audulph Rupp played at Kansas so without him your nothing, just like dean Smith for UNC, wilt chamberlain take your pick we are original BLUE BLOOD KANSAS.
Also noteworthy that Calipari got his start at Kansas as an assistant to both Ted Owens and Larry Brown.

This video has nothing to do with Kansas, why are Kansas fans so self centered? PSs: Bill Self is a cheater, and I wish Kansas would just fire him already and act like the bluebloods they are
thats because Self can actually coach..his teams arent overly reliant on pure talent..KU has had their fair share of OADs, but KU isnt usually relying on them to perform to win

Edert, Banks, and Lee let me down by transferring to other schools after this great tournament. These days college basketball is getting as BAD as NBA basketball. That's why manek of North Carolina got to play for four different teams which is babyish! I hope these guys have bad luck with their new schools; they are traitors. Their coach is going back to his REAL school; Seton Hall. We only want real true to Saint Peter's players, like in the real college basketball days of years ago.
I agree with the exception of Remy Martin.
@@mattreynolds3503 I don't know who he is. I looked him up and don't understand why he transfered to Kansas from Arizona State? He had good stats.
