- An in-depth tutorial on making a template, cutting, sewing and installing a seat cover in a 1995 Toyota truck.
The technique demonstrated here will work for an upholstery overhaul in any vehicle.
This seat cover is made with thrifted and leftover project fabrics- it's been chosen to be unique and stand out! And why not use what you already have?
The cover is held in place with a drawstring, tied under the seat to hold it tightly in place. It is easily removed for washing.
Thanks for watching! Хобби
Thank you for getting right to it instead of talking for 20 min about your channel.
I followed your instructions, and made a very nice car seat cover for neighbor. He loves it!!
Your kid looks like a cool dude. He is lucky to have clever mom like you!
Fits perfectly rear-facing in our truck, which has a slightly smaller back seats. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx6_FKRYB2ClSPRyjcd8HptiCS3EiQoNX4 Feels as comfy and plush as our Graco Contender carseat
Right on! Thanks!
This is the BEST tutorial I've watched in a long time! You are SUCH a clever mom! This video captures the love and caring which goes into our sewing in such a beautiful way. And, now I know how to make a seat cover! Thank you SO MUCH!
Jenina Mella Thank YOU so much - your kind words mean everything!!🙏🏼❤️
I agree with these commenters!! Best BA tutorial I have seen in a LONG time! Excellent and you have a new subscriber!!!
Thank you!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
I have a 1996 GMC Sierra that needs this. Your video was so much more helpful than any of the others I have watched. Thank you for this. Beautiful fabric choice.
Bravo mum :) This took me back to fashion school! I wish i had a machine and your knowledge
Love the music & The seat covers, I got a 95 Toyota Tacoma too woo hoo ! It takes a licking & keeps on ticking with 300,000+ miles !
Great video,I saw where someone used clear plastic to mark out the seat pattern, but I like how you made the pattern. I’m looking to make seat covers for my son’s car as well. I hope your son appreciated you making those seat covers
Plastic is an interesting choice, coming from a traditionally trained sewing point of view, paper (or fabric) is always my go to- I want to be able to write on the pattern too.
He definitely appreciated the seat covers😊 He’s a great maker himself and now has his own bike bag making company- Fish-Ski Designs! (@fish_ski.designs on Instagram)
Nicely done! Thanks for the thorough yet quick tutorial.
Thank you!
My son just got a Tacoma! and the darn driver's seat needs love, I brainstormed with a friend and decided that Mexican blanket material would be best, this is LITERALLY perfect. I knew I was going to find someone who had already done it. This is going to be a fun project. Thank you for documenting it!
Yay, I’m so glad you found this video- best of luck on your Tacoma project!
This is the best DIY car seat cover vid on RUclips.
Love the Fabric. Great Job.
What a great tutorial! Thank you!
I have watched multiple videos for a seat cover, and this is by FAR the best one, gonna get the stuff to make my own today, and I am gonna use this video as a reference😊 Great job mama!
Thank you! Best of luck on your project 😊
You killed this! Looks awesome.
Thank you!
Well done and thanks for the inspiration! I really like the idea of your pull chord as opposed to the flat cheap elastic that comes with replacement covers! Again, well done!
Thank you!
Up to my standards. Thanks for sharing.
omg this is so good. i’m going to be using this as a reference to make my boring black wheelchair seat & backrest cute as hell 🤩
Sounds great- no more boring black!🙌🏼🙂
Skills! Loved watching the process and the result was so good!
Awesome job mom!
Lucky young man to have such a crafty and talented mom. Came out great!
Thank you!
Great video Noelle, It brought back memories of me mending & patching and inventing things with my sewing machine for my 4 kids 30 years ago. I am now making seat covers for my husband's toy (his RV) and I will use your drawstring design to hold the bottom seat covers in place. Thank you!
Jean, thanks for sharing your experience sewing for your kids- such great memories near and far. Good luck with your seat covers!🙂
Great job! I like the contrast between the drab stock interior and the colorful seat cover.
Thank you- I insisted on the colorful fabric, why be boring and drab twice?!
💛🤎❤💚! SO very cool! Thank you. I actually watched this a few years ago, but felt it was out of my depth at the time. I came across the vidi again today and I feel like my skills are now ready to tackle it! I appreciate how clear and straight forward you went about it!
Thank you!!
Wow! ... that is what skill looks like! :) Beautiful!
Thank you!
Just what I need !! Thank you for the tutorial!!!
Thank you for having this diy!
You’re very welcome!
Huh, what are the odds, this is the exact same truck with the exact same split bench seat I was looking to make something for. Hope he still has it! Thanks for the video, I may just have to give this a shot
Ha! The wacky 2/3, 1/3 seat situation in this truck was what inspired the DIY. In a world where you can buy literally everything, this seat is the exception. We could not find a premade cover for this setup and I’m willing to bet you couldn’t either. Best of luck on making the cover- happy I could help!
This was SOOO SATISFYING to watch!! I was looking at the car I drive and was thinking, I could probably sew a seat cover instead of buying a prefab one...Thank you!!!
OffTheCreamyCrack You can do it! It might take longer than 10 minutes but the sped up video version IS so satisfying in it’s quick completion!😅Thanks!!
Looks great good job & info. You made it a lot simpler
I LOVED watching this. The way you did it - movements, techniques - was so much like my mom. It was like watching her make me something. In regards to it being a seat cover, loved the great ideas like the paracord to keep it in place and working around the buckle. One of the best DIY videos. Beautiful fabric and great job!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!
Omg, where has RUclips been hiding you?!? Thank you for this tutorial, been searching endlessly for diy removable seat covers for my truck! 💜
So glad this video is helpful! Stick around for more useful DIYs 😊

so many clever little tricks in this video ! thank you !
Beautiful!!!! Amazing job.
Fantastic! Love this video, thank you!
Scott Turner I’m so glad it was helpful- thank you!!
This was a perfect tutorial and because I’m visual I appreciated the way you filmed each step! I just picked up my new truck and envisioned doing something with vintage Pendleton throws or even their clearance fabrics. But I need to consider the airbags so I might just create a top piece that drapes. Anyway, thanks again!
I would love something like this for the leatherette in my mini!! Awesome Job!😍😍😍
Great job mom
Thanks!
Mom Rocks !
Thank you!😊
Thank you so much for sharing this! The seat cover looks amazing.
My office chair just strted shredding (looks like it was made out of cheap skai). I can't afford a new chair but I have a lot of random materials. I'm going to try this!

Awesome mama!
That’ll be me smooching my sons face when he’s that old lol
Nova Oberle Oh good, I’m so glad the video is helpful- sometimes just a specific part of a seat needs the work. I’ll sneak in a kid smooch any chance I get, no matter the age!🤣... and I totally deserved it after all that work!😉
Excellent video
Still such a good video, thank you!

Omg, please adopt me. This was so helpful to watch!!❤️
Tasha Scott Omg thank you, I’m so glad it helped!😊
You are one cool mom!
Oh thank you!
God job. Many Greetings from Sweden.
Thank you- greetings to you too!
Awesome! Thank you so much for showing us how to do that! I'd love to see you finish the top half...
Jillybean Lunsford I haven’t made a cover for the top half since that fabric is in good shape and not torn. If I did... I’m picturing a pillowcase type fit that cinches with a drawstring closure. Basically the same techniques as the seat cushion. I hope that makes sense and is helpful. Thanks!
@@NoelleODesigns okay thank you!
Very cool!
Very nice job 👌👌
Thank you!☺️
This is great. Just needed it. I didn't want my new car to be full of sand from swimming
I just needed one for the driver's seat alone. Not the back. So I took an outdoor chair cushion I had that was thin enough and sewed ties to the back corners. Tied the ties together around the seat in the back. Works perfect. I was going to sew my own, but I found this cushion in the garage, and thought "Wow!" Now I only have to sew ties to it.
Sounds great, a ‘work smarter not harder’ answer to the problem and with an upcycled element to boot. Well done!
@@NoelleODesigns I finally figured out I could just make a cover for just the seat instead of the seat with the back, and I was looking for fabric to use in my garage when I spotted the outdoor chair cushion. Bingo ! I found some fabric to make the ties out of and sewed them on the sewing machine to the cushion. Wish I had thought about this years ago when I notice some wear starting on the seat. I've been using a towel because I couldn't find seat covers that seemed to fit right that weren't expensive. And It seemed too hard to make the whole seat cover.
OmgI love this so much
Amazing job🎉💕🔥🔥
Thank you! 😊
Love it!
thank you for sharing this! I've realized theres no type of seat covers for my 1995 chevorlet blazer so im going to have to make them myself since I absolutely hate the tan color. now ill have to figure out how to tighten the top part of the seats and the back seats.
You’re welcome- good luck with your covers!
WOW ITS PERFECT! After seeing how it's done I'm more confident to try making one for me n my mums car. It does looks like it takes some time tho. But it would be a really cool result.
Thanks! You can do it- just takes some patience in puzzling things out and take your time doing the sewing👍🏼
This is so interesting.I hope this is going to work for my 70s Valiant all 5 seats.
I bet they look like crap by now! Hope it goes well for you.
@@totalvet Oh yes.The original seats is crap and rotted out.So I have to get industrial sponge ,curve out seats molds, then cover with some sort of cheap fabric material.btw project funds are low so it will take some time.
Coolest mom ever
I’m actually gonna attempt this for the backseat of my truck
You can do it!🙌🏼
Brilliant ❤.
Can you fix the hole in my sleeve? Too funny! 😅😂
Moms are the best.
