Yeah yeah yeah, I get it this melody sound like shit...do me a favor before you roast me and check all of the other 60+ tutorials I put out and see how many people I've helped. Funny how this video has so many haters and yet 1k likes vs 138 dislikes.
I FEEL YOU.. but half or most of these producers don't buy them anyway... if you aint making money off your beats yet just torrent it then pay for it if you can afford it , I be damn if im gonna pay for a plug-in that's not really all that as ppl make it... i have omnisphere, so far it's ok but def not worth $500... better off getting nexus2
Najay THECHOSEN1 sounds like you need to learn how to add third party sound banks, layer your sound using multi, or just learn what you have in general. Because you comparing Omnisphere to nexus shows me you depend on presets and not editing your sounds. No disrespect but don’t throw false information
you should check out some sound design tutorials, that knowledge can turn a shitty ass plug-in into the sound you´re actually looking for, +it´s quite fun once you get the hang from it
Love how you break down everything and don't talk to us like we already know it. Thank You for being patient. The best help on here. Soon as I get that notification cation I be in here.
CJ, I've been watching you for almost a year, and I can honestly say that your videos have expedited my learning process by 1,000%. I've seen you use this technique multiple times, both in older videos as well as newer ones, and have witnessed you get better at it in a condensed amount of time simply because I'm late to the party. Everyone can hate on you for this one, but the numbers don't lie bro; I've heard other RUclipsrs use your beats (for intros and background music) even before subscribing to you. Honestly one of the best. Keep doing what you're doing.
The pencil tool also draws notes. The difference with the brush tool is that you can “paint” a whole sequence of notes, like a flurry of 16th notes, by brushing your mouse across the piano roll. Scale quantization is a really useful tool. If you are only a so-so piano player and you track a performance from a midi keyboard, the scale and time quantizers can really help. It’s also really helpful for creating harmony line ideas. If you play or draw your vocal melody out in midi/piano roll on a scratch track, you can then shift up and down to harmonizes that snap to your key to audition different harmony lines. Harmony ideas don’t always pop into my head automatically, so I really like to test and play around.
Heres a super helpful tip: Ever play a melody that was perfect but you didn't hit record? Use your keys to place where that melody should have gone and hit SHIFT+R. That last played part is remembered in RAM. Neat little lifesaver huh?
Good tutorial! If you hold alt + double click in the region it'll bring up a detached piano roll so you don't have to deal with not being able to seeing your edit window. But this was definitely a helpful tip. Thanks!
Yo cj, any particular reason why u used battery for your drum programming? Do you think the drums bang harder in battery? Do you still use battery today?
Love the tutorial man... exactly what I needed to get more comfortable using Logic Pro X. Let the haters keep hating. If they knew better (and subscribed/watched your other videos), they'd know your beats are fire. Thank you, and keep doing you!
YOUR THE DOPEST AND THE REALEST MAN...IVE GOTTON SO MUCH WORK OVER HERE BECAUSE OF YOUR TEACHINGS. I NOW TEACH OTHERS FROM MY OWN STUDIO AND GET PAID. NEVER STOP DOING WHAT YOU DO MAN. GREAT VIDEOS
For somebody who been a little shit and quit musical school early after starting in my teens(cause girls and brawls got a better appeal lol), loosing all the knowledge and talent teachers claimed I had, this is exactly what I need now in my 30s to get back to play and make my own stuff. Thanks bro, I like going trough some basics and attempt this myself, much appreciated!
what i do is make my melody in logic and export it to fl studio.. I just like the feeling of the drums.. It just adds a certain hype and feel to the beat just from its engine.. CJ you still rock fam!!
damn man th guy didn't say I'm gonna make a fire ass beat with excellent chord progression, he just said he was gonna show you an easy way to get it done, it was just an example on how to use this method smh , it wasnt a fucking math problem, thanks bro i didnt know i could even do this, this helped a lot
😂😂😂😂 I mess with you CJ but I have to roast you on this one .That was the ugliest chord progression I ever heard” Mr. I have an ear for music “ lol 😂 😂😂😂😂
It reminds me of old Alfred Hitchcock background music. Sehr good. Could you have used the smart quantization to stagger those notes instead of achieving that process manually?
everybody hating but posting 2 weeks ago to a 3 year old video lol! CJ has gotten so much better! and schooled many of us so appreciate the effort jeez y'all find anything to shit on huh
T L haha I thought the same... at first I was all about harmonic minor for a randomized melody, but then he started plopping down random triads and I was like “yeah this gonna be rough.” You can pretty much only get away with random chord building slop in Major and natural minor. Even then, you’re gonna get a diminished chord once in a while that only will work in limited contexts. I’m a little confused by what the “secret” is supposed to be here. Is it the scale quantization?
Hi CJ Beatz does this work with playing the chords or melodic scales as well? If I set the scale quantize ahead of time will it keep my playing within a particular key?
Just to add to this to humanise the chords even more try varying the velocities of the chords as your fingers don't play each note with the same velocity 👌🏾
Thank you for this - very helpful. One thing I wish you and so many others would do is use instruments contained in Logic and not go to third party plug-ins. This one was pretty clear and you described what to do if you don't have Omnisphere at the end. But why not just use Alchemy in the first place? Thanks again
Hey CJ, Can we turn on the scale quantizer when connected to a midi keyboard? I have advanced tools on and everything but it won't let me click the on or off option
Nice! i've used Logic for 14 years and never knew this lol, one thing i can suggest, and i'm sure you know this, but when you were lengthening the notes at the beginning and it was taking some guess work or some shuffling and reshuffling, why not cut the region in the arrange page at 1 bar, hold down option then drag the region to a 2 bar length? your notes are now double the length like you were trying to do one at a time only done in 3 seconds :)
hey dude i was gonna message you but you deserve much thanks for all these tutorials and sounds...time is of the essence and i know this helps market you however still thanks brother
@CJBeatz could you plz do a tutorial of collabing with other producers using other DAWS? Sending stems/making sure the melodies/drums fit with the tempo their working with. I would greatly appreciate that thx!
i'm all for the easy way to play chords, given that fact i don't know music theory , but you said you gotta ear for music? I see where you was trying to go with it but how you didn't hear that those 2nd chords are not in the right key
Gotta agree with you about the second chords sounding not good...But i also say they were in the key infact (C minor harmonic). It is more a question of choice and beauty...
You turned on scale quantize but however after setting your notes in place you did not quantize them. It doesn’t automatically do it as you click in or play notes. You have to select the notes played then press the quantize button, and you should see the notes shift after the fact.
Ty for this comment bro, honestly was wondering if I use chord trigger and do like a crazy harmonic choice can I quantize the notes to scale after or is that not necessary?
Is this how you make melodies to majority of your beats or do you play around and come up with melodies with an actual keyboard? your beats are fire bro.
Dope cj !! Much appreciated as I am very new to logic! Did you say you are holding the command key while drawing with the brush? Don't mind the haters bruh, the vid is showing us how its done not how to create the best melody on the planet! lol people hate bruh keep up the amazing work!
CJ Beatz I'm not sure what to do, I bought komplete 11 but can't download all of it to my MacBook due to space I also want to get omnisphere but which should I put on a external hard drive? Or should I put all of it on the external hard drive
great video! but i need help i just got logic pro and everytime i select a different sound it carries the original piano on it that it defaults when you add a new sound please help
Come on maaan. I'm okay with scale quantize and there is a lot of good producers using only computer out there and it is FINE... so showing this trick to the people is a good idea, although you're absolutely not the first. But you cannot say that this loop sounds good, because even if it is in scale, it does actually sounds like shit...

It happens bro, haters are everywhere. This vid has definitely helped me though.. keep doing your thing bro!
still helped me!
Don't mind the haters. If they were any better, they would help people better than what you do.
I thought the technique is amazing. I'm a pro musician over 20 years doing it for a living singing & playing guitar just gigs.
I don't care what you played I learned something.
When you do tutorials, try not to use the most expensive plugins .
Some bruthas are just starting out.
Reasons why theyre here.

As you can see i got ears for music
*shitty chords appears*

shut the fuck up trash ass bum
@@nlesyrup4450 He's right, those chords don't go well with eachother, the video is a parody.
As a jazz musician, this progression made perfect sense 😂

Thanks for the support fam!
KOSheadshotzz def invest in a external hard drive, i keep ALL my sounds and libraries on an external

walking through a cave in Pokémon -type melody
Man apple needs to add ghost notes to logic pro already. Ive been waiting for it for a while now. Hopefully soon
what are you talking about??? you can make ghost notes..... adjust the velocity of your midi. pretty easy.
skltr21 no.
no what?
yes me too waiting for ghost notes in logic
they don't know what the fuck ghost notes really are lol
Heres a super helpful tip: Ever play a melody that was perfect but you didn't hit record? Use your keys to place where that melody should have gone and hit SHIFT+R. That last played part is remembered in RAM. Neat little lifesaver huh?
You can use the force legato shortcut (Shift + \) to trim note ends to the following notes, rather than manually dragging the notes.
Matthew Park thank you I could not figure out how to do that for 2 years and yet a random ass comment shows me lmaooo thanks
Love this I completely forgot what the button was and the video I found it in before so this comment yelps
“I have an ear for music” proceeds to fuckin shit in my ear
I appreciate you! Thanks for taking the time.
Very interesting, Thank you... Your videos look so good what capture software do you use?
Nice and easy to follow...
Thanks mate..

I just made a sick ass beat!!! thabk u @cjbeatz for helping out the community
Bro I feel like a tutorial about how to make a Murda Beatz type beat is needed right now.🔥
Funny, but you're right... I learned something.

Little tip if you go to functions there is an option called humanize which saves a lot of time

*Chord progression* tutorial. Did you just teach 74k people that a chord progression is a melody?
T L haha I thought the same... at first I was all about harmonic minor for a randomized melody, but then he started plopping down random triads and I was like “yeah this gonna be rough.” You can pretty much only get away with random chord building slop in Major and natural minor. Jeff Travilla I think he was just showing off the scale quantization and didn’t really care how the melody sounded.
Hey CJ dope tutorials thanks man keep them coming appreciated.....
King Live much appreciated! stay tuned!
Cj you think you can make a video on how to arrange a beat for some one to rap over them, thanks a lot and best of luck in your musical career
Hi CJ Beatz does this work with playing the chords or melodic scales as well? If I set the scale quantize ahead of time will it keep my playing within a particular key?

You should make a tutorial on how you got big as a RUclipsr and how you promoted your Chanel.
I love the technique, thanks
Great tutorial

Thanks. For the awesome tip
Yo bro great tutorial. Does this work if I use a midi keyboard also ?
Teach em how to dougie.. Good knowledge right here much appreciated!

In key, but more of a jazz feel.
Bro you’re so right the 2. chrod sounds like dog shit bro
If this is a parody, its hilarious!
Butterfield Studios check out my last episode on my channel. It’s better
Hey bro nice video, any chance you could show me how to get omnisphere running on logic pro?
@CJ Beatz, are the notes still in the scale if they fall on the black line of the grid?
Nice tip and workflow. It’s about the functions not quality of composition. Keep it up!
very good job . U r the best in youtube , Peace brow

majority of the time I use my midi keyboard. thanks!
Do you have any vids on How to Make drums Have that Bounce ? That like 9th wonder groove?
Thank you
The key quantize feature doesn’t work this way. You need to select the notes and quantize them after you put them in.
actually it does if you are using the brush tool. if you pencil them in them yes you are correct.
curious to know the Omnisphere plug in is a purchased one or can it be downloaded for free?
Thanks CJ!!!
thank you sir

Jake Masca was the first to make a tutorial on this 9 months ago just letting you know cuz you said you hadn't seen it on youtube but still dope
you made me, bro
CJ Beatz I'm not sure what to do, I bought komplete 11 but can't download all of it to my MacBook due to space I also want to get omnisphere but which should I put on a external hard drive? Or should I put all of it on the external hard drive

Dave Lordy most likely just his computer fans...
How do I see the A3 or D3 in your piano roll so I can use the scale cheat sheet I can’t see it on mine
