I have seen this movie dozens of times and I still love it. Kurt Russell just makes this movie fun to watch.
Kurt Russell channeling John Wayne. Thinking he's the hero while he's actually the comedic sidekick. 😂
When you realize Jack is the sidekick and Wang is the hero, this movie makes a lot more sense. Jack just thinks he's the hero.
Also, the song that plays over the credits is the movie's theme, performed by John Carpenter's band, The Coup De Villes. John Carpenter is the deep voice. The higher voice is Nick Castle, who was Michael Myers in the first Halloween.
ACTUALLY wearing sunglasses in heavy rain is very useful. Specially if you have a long drive in the highway and encounter heavy rain.
When this happens, ALL you see is gray, it could be a panicky situation the first time because you can't see shit, just gray all around you in 2D, like a paper.
Wearing Sunglasses gives you a 3D perception. You can actually see better in those conditions. When on road trips, I always make sure I have sunglasses in my top visor for surprise heavy rain. That and lighters for my joints. Everything else you figure it out as you go. 😎💫
One of th funniest and craziest martial arts action comedy movies ever made!
Originally it was going to be a western taking place in 1906, where Jack Burton, a former gunslinger, meeting up with his old friend, Wang Chi, an expert in martial arts and ancient Chinese mysticism, where they team up to take down the evil sorcerer Lo Pan, who plans to unleash an earthquake that will destroy not only San Francisco but the world.
Clint Eastwood and Jack Nicholson were considered for the role of Jack Burton before Kurt Russell was picked.
A remake and a sequel were in the works with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson playing a trucker trying to figure out what happened to Jack Burton and why he disappeared. Both of these projects would be cancelled or put on hold due to the Fox/Disney merger.
This reaction will appease my Emperor indeed!
Awesome 80s weirdness. Oddly, I never even heard of this movie until the late 90s, despite the fact that it was released when I was in my teens. I don't know if you normally take recommendations, but I'd like to recommend Alita Battle Angel (2019) and The Shadow (1994)
Another mid eighties John Carpenter movie that's a hidden gem is called "Prince of Darkness". It's a fairly good movie with a plot never done before.
Now you gotta watch its weird ass crazy cousin Showdown in Little Tokyo : D

The opening sequence with the interview and the lawyer was not part of the film. The studio complained that Jack wasn't heroic enough in the movie, do they added it just so Egg Shenn could say Jack was heroic.
This was good. Watch enter the dragon with Bruce Lee. Or watch showdown in little Tokyo with Dolph Lundgren and Brandon lee aka Bruce lee’s son.
Captain Ron is another comedy film with him in it. You will love it.

Yeah for sure. I enjoyed this movie.
Not sure if its cannon but I think Egg Shen is the Gandalf of this story.
Besides knowledge and tools to win Egg has tangled with Lo Pan before. The video game fight end with Lo Pan saying Egg could never beat him. Egg talking about his deserved vacation makes me think Egg has been tailing Lo Pan waiting for the chance to finish him.
Jack is not the hero of the story Wang is. Jack is Wang's sidekick.😅
Is this my favourite movie of all time? INDEED!
