    check out
The Sports - Black Stockings For Chelsea nzoz1981
Joe Camilleri is playing sax on the track.
Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Sports were what many consider ''brother bands''.
Joe and Sports' singer Stephen Cummings used to sing in a band together before theey went their separate ways.

Jo Jo Zep had more success playing at events like the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Unfortunately, they were once assigned to play at some ''monsters of rock'' festival in the US along with Cheap Trick, Reo Speedwagon, etc. The American crowd booed and threw objects of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, and in retaliation, Jo Jo Zep challenged the 1000's of concert goers to fight him and threatened to beat everybody up in the stadium.

@@deepcutsreactions7774 They were over the top, though Cheap Trick have redeeming qualities. Jane Clifton is an actress/singer. She was in a band called Stiletto back in the 70's. Check out ''Nuclear War'' sometime.

Just watched an episode of Countdown today from 1980, and it had James (lead singer of Aussie Crawl) hosting and had Cold Chisel and Marcia Hines on it. Nice 🎉🎉🎉

GREAT reaction to a song I love! you are so digging that sound! you especially seemed to like Jane's "Don't let the bubble burst!" which is such a terrifically unexpected interjection. If you enjoyed this, you're sure to enjoy Renee Geyer's "Say I Love You" from 1981 which also has some of that Calypso, big band rhythm/beat feel to it. and yeah totally lip-synced...as was the habit of the show Countdown...it was the only way to guarantee sound levels and that no one came on stage so drunk (and other) that they couldn't repeat their latest record verbatim for a crowd of usually young teenage girls.

An odd song and interesting to hear Jane Clifton in it. I only knew her as an actress on a tv show called Prisoner when I was a little kid.. She was a real feral woman in some prison so funny to see and hear her with like a bubble gum type singing voice. Totally removed from her character on a tv show. But as a little kid you think the character they portray is them in real life. ha ha...
I think there been some remake of the tv show in recent decades. Think it called Wentworth. The prison in the original show was called Wentworth but the tv show of those late 70's was called Prisoner. It too long ago to even remember what Jane Clifton's character name was but she was as feral as it gets. I wonder if she did this song whilst she was on the show or this was before she was an actress. Hard to know when this video from as never seen or heard the song before.

Greg , sometimes you just have to accept that weird is good, …. A good song for it’s time and it worked well, Jane Clifton back then was mainly known for her acting…. Just an all round catchy tune.

Joe Camilleri certainly had varied tastes in music. I didn’t appreciate it at the time as I do now. Also I think that probably diluted his possible success because he appealed to different audience each time….

All of it was mimed on Countdown.
It was so they could control what we saw on the conservative ABC.
Couldn't have a band improvise with something we shouldn't see.
Even those clips of Jimmy & The Boys that Greg reacted to, were censored. They didn't show anything of Joylene, can't have us seeing a transvestite & they were far more outrageous on other clips that weren't for TV. They were off the planet at live gigs.
Remember when Mike Cole ( I think that was his name) from Mod Squad, said "shit" on the Logies. That was live over east, dubbed out by the time we saw it 2 hours later in the West, but that meant everything live on TV from then on, had a 4 second delay. They couldn't dub out that he was obviously shitfaced though 😂. Off his tree, big time 😂.
One stoned yank caused so much shit by saying shit 😂😂😂

@@deepcutsreactions7774 the artists didn't have a choice, such were both the technical and legal limitations of the show, but some artists rebelled and wouldn't play along and would just goof off during their brief set. This show was usually on at about 7pm on a Sunday (if memory serves... and at my age...not so much!) so it was considered "family viewing" and as it was on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp) a government taxpayer funded production, it was a bit censored and a long running institution many of us grew up with. Along with its host Ian "Molly" Meldrum, who at times seemed the most awkward uncharismatic presenter... his determination, blokey enthusiasm and support of so many up-and-coming acts endeared him to a nation and many of those who were lucky enough to get a spot on the show, that high-lit their music. A good word from Molly was like a gateway (and stamp of approval) into the charts and the country.
