Didn't they fix the biggest isues yet? Like the bug when you try to rotate an image that doesn't match with the project size (this happens in pro 11 version), or the annoying "copying parameters bundle", that can't separate the type of parameter you want to copy (maybe you want to copy motion but not effects from one clip to another). That would be incrdible, because is something Vegas repeats since its Vegas 4 version. Why didn't fixed it. In premiere you can separately choose which parameter you want to copy or paste, and I mean in old premiere version, like the old 6 version.

The only issue was we didn't have someone behind the camera to confirm if we were getting the right effect from it or not and this video was a quick "set the camera down and go" shoot. In our covers we take turns recording each other and a lot has to do with exposure.

If you are looking for serious special effects, After Effects paired with Premiere might be more suitable, but there's a lot to learn there. Either way, you can achieve most effects in After Effects with Vegas too. But don't take our word for it, go check out the videos on this channel, we are a two piece band. I think it's safe to assume that you have "Overlays" set to "Red." That's the button at the top of the video preview with the little grid icon and a drop down arrow on the right. Just click on the grid icon to turn it off, or click the drop down arrow and change it to something more suitable such as "Grid" or "Safe Areas." Hope that fixes it!
We render to whatever the video was shot in. As you can see our lower quality preset frame rate is already set to 23.976, it just so happens that when we put together the high quality spec preset that we were exporting a video that called for 30fps.

Hold CTRL while stretching it out for slow mo, and pinching it for speed.

The only reason I said that it isn't the best for rendering high quality is because perfectionists claim that there are "artifacts" when you use CUDA, not "glitches." Apparently it is dependent on the graphics card you are using, but in reality the artifacts (if there are any at all) are practically unnoticeable. Only picky people might see it. I only pointed it out because I knew someone else would in the comments if I didn't. Btw, I'm not entirely sure if Vegas supports 600 series cards yet.
I love that features of Sony Vegas Pro 12. It's really a huge help for me making presentations, Music Videos, Documentaries etc. I would be more likely to do Instructional Videos and other fun stuffs using that cool software.

Final Cut Pro X all the way for me. Yes the rendering is annoying, but its so much easier to use, better GUI and the magnetic timeline is a huge time saver.

My brother and I are amatuer film makers. We do some music videos, short films, and a little stop motion. Right now, money is extremely tight because we are saving up for our full length film budget. Unfortunetly, we are stuck with vegas pro 9, and after seeing the review, i know vegas pro 12 will be extremely helpful in post production.

If you want Vegas to Render Fast with Cuda, you need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 500 series Video Card. Vegas was made specifically for the Fermi architecture of those cards. Also Vegas won't utilize SLI linked cards, so forget about filling your PC with 2+ GPUs thinking you are going to increase your speed. So if you want the fastest Video Card for Vegas, Pickup a GTX 560 or 570, or if you have water cooling the 580. Anything newer will be slower. I already tried with some GTX 650 Tis

By the way, although I primarily use Movie Maker, I have tried a few free trials of Vegas Pro and After Affects and found them both 10 times better, so it would be awesome to use something like Vegas Pro 12 full time!

Ii have been using sony vegas since the 8 version came out. I make not only youtube videos but edit sports highlights for guys to go to college. I think this would really help me out.

Clips are the project Media, but everything on the timeline is an Event. You can create multiple events from one clip in Project Media and the events are independent from each other. Please stop saying "Click This", "Click here". You are moving way too fast to figure out where your mouse is pointing when you say "Click That".

Awesome tutorial guys, I currently have Sony Vegas 9 so I'm a bit behind. The reason I would like to get Sony Vegas 12 is because of one flaw it gives me in the older software. The program requires me to convert all my footage from my kodak to a different file type. Which decreases the quality of my footage, takes longer to do, and really just demotivates me to make videos. Anyone else I ask who has the same camera says they don't have a problem on the newer Sony Vegas softwares. -Larry

Hi, I make lots of videos for RUclips, and everything that I did in the past month could be done much more easily in Vegas 12. In the previous versions I can't resize or duplicate a mask an object, I can't do much with it. My newest video I needed some color correction and I manually edited the colors, but I didn't have the latest update so it lost all of the keyframes. People have been asking me how I make my videos, and I would really like to show them with the newest version of Sony Vegas.
Well I think I deserve me some Vegas because as a really low budget (broke) teenage inspired artist I can finally show some of my work to the world. With Vegas as a medium, I can do what I love. :) may the odds be ever on my favor
I am very curious as to what graphics card you are using? Does it playback smoothly when you have a lot of edits, layers, and effects or no? Does it render fast? I've been trying to figure out what the best graphics card would be to buy for Sony Vegas, but I'm very confused. What card would you recommend?
Remember that this work with AMD just as with NVIDIA if anyone wonders. I used it with realy good results with Ati 5870 and AMD 6950 without any problems and fast rendering

OpenCL is the GPU acceleration that my computer has. I have an 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5730 (I know, it's obsolete by now). It renders faster than playback though I'm not sure if my laptop can handle rendering at 2x speed and it leaves no artifacts. It's pretty sweet.

I want Sony Vegas Pro 12 because I have several of my own channels that I edit for as well as for others and I use Windows Movie Maker because I don't have the money to get any better. I am also starting a music channel that I have already written songs for but lack the editing software to make a decent video to go with them. Also you guys are amazingly talented and one of my favorite bands of all time.
I'm liking the cut & remove with the brackets and i love the B roll flash too that's pretty sweet! I have the same disorganized practices as you guys , usually i just drag the files straight to a new folder on my desktop until it's edited and i have it posted to youtube i then make the decision to keep or trash the raw files. I'm LOVING that color match / correct too. that's AWESOME! I was just about to ask if you still used Premiere also when you brought it up, might have to sell a kidney now.

I believe you are talking about the volume envelope.Select the track and hit Shift+v or right click and turn on the volume envelope.

We used to use Vegas on a Mac via bootcamp, but that ruins the whole purpose of owning a Mac in the first place.. not that there is a purpose.
Because it has better qualities and audio it's own library and you could upload share and pop up words faster than usual

Thanks for the great tutorial again guys! Loved the Vegas Pro 11 one. That was what convinced me to get Vegas, over After Effects. I just need to upgrade from Platinum and get a Pro version! Those new effects are awesome!
you have to save your fx settings, then apply to the new clip.
By the way, could you guys provide like a time line for which parts your speaking of, e.g if the color effect thing starts at 15:50 then we could click there, you could have it in description.
It would be handy to find out how to use each of the new features.

When you play the video after you chroma key, is the video still slowed down and the audio faster?
love you energy..I deserve sony vegas because i am a serious editor but i can barely afford to pay my bills i do this for a living and i am finding it very hard to survive this induststry is so expensive and fast paced it is hard to keep up with the latest thing but my love for it is emense and i will never give up ! thank you
If you want Vegas to Render Fast with Cuda, you need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 500 series Video Card. Vegas was made specifically for the Fermi architecture of those cards. Also Vegas won't utilize SLI linked cards, so forget about filling your PC with 2+ GPUs thinking you are going to increase your speed. So if you want the fastest Video Card for Vegas, Pickup a GTX 560 or 570, or if you have water cooling the 580. Anything newer will be slower. I already tried with some GTX 650 Tis

By the way, although I primarily use Movie Maker, I have tried a few free trials of Vegas Pro and After Affects and found them both 10 times better, so it would be awesome to use something like Vegas Pro 12 full time!
one question. Will the proxy files automatically delete after rendering? or you just manually delete it?

Thank you for a wonderful job with vegas 12 tutortorials. I have a question. I used to be able to drag a clip over another to give a smooth transition. I must have hit a button cuz now I cannot anymore. It just goes to a cut no matter how far I pull it over the previous clip. Can you tell me why this is? I sure do appreciate it.

i feel like i deserve sony vegas pro 12 because i have always wanted to be able to put out quality youtube videos and sony vegas seems to me like its the best software out there to do that. :)
i don't think i actually "deserve" this software but i am a father of a daughter in college and she works very hard and asks for nothing so i am trying for her. i/she never ask for anything but would love a little break, that's all, just a break. seems like a lot of more deserving applicants posting their reasons so whoever gets this, good luck in whatever you're working towards.
Ii have been using sony vegas since the 8 version came out. I make not only youtube videos but edit sports highlights for guys to go to college. I think this would really help me out.

A couple of nits..
Everything on the timeline is an Event.
Clips are the project Media, but everything on the timeline is an Event. You can create multiple events from one clip in Project Media and the events are independent from each other.
Please stop saying "Click This", "Click here". You are moving way too fast to figure out where your mouse is pointing when you say "Click That".

I would like Vegas 2012 because I am going to video tape my best friends wedding here soon. I like the knowledge you give on youtube, it amazes me to see that vegas seems easy to figure out. I wish to make my best friends wedding video the best. The only piece that I need is vegas 2012. :) YAY!!! I am SUPER excited with a sqooshy face hehe!

Awesome tutorial guys, I currently have Sony Vegas 9 so I'm a bit behind. The reason I would like to get Sony Vegas 12 is because of one flaw it gives me in the older software. The program requires me to convert all my footage from my kodak to a different file type. Which decreases the quality of my footage, takes longer to do, and really just demotivates me to make videos. Anyone else I ask who has the same camera says they don't have a problem on the newer Sony Vegas softwares.

Hi, I make lots of videos for RUclips, and everything that I did in the past month could be done much more easily in Vegas 12. In the previous versions I can't resize or duplicate a mask an object, I can't do much with it. My newest video I needed some color correction and I manually edited the colors, but I didn't have the latest update so it lost all of the keyframes. People have been asking me how I make my videos, and I would really like to show them with the newest version of Sony Vegas.
Well I think I deserve me some Vegas because as a really low budget (broke) teenage inspired artist I can finally show some of my work to the world. With Vegas as a medium, I can do what I love. :) may the odds be ever on my favor
which camera do you guys use?
I am very curious as to what graphics card you are using? Does it playback smoothly when you have a lot of edits, layers, and effects or no? Does it render fast? I've been trying to figure out what the best graphics card would be to buy for Sony Vegas, but I'm very confused. What card would you recommend?

Sony Vegas Pro 12 doesn't come with Sound Forge or Acid? Were you able to integrate audio editing software with this new Vegas?
Do you know how to separate a voice over from it's audio/background music?
Remember that this work with AMD just as with NVIDIA if anyone wonders. I used it with realy good results with Ati 5870 and AMD 6950 without any problems and fast rendering

OpenCL is the GPU acceleration that my computer has. I have an 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5730 (I know, it's obsolete by now). It renders faster than playback though I'm not sure if my laptop can handle rendering at 2x speed and it leaves no artifacts. It's pretty sweet.

hey i want to know. i add different clips to the timeline. but i have to apply the video effects to every clip individually. plz tell me the correct way to merge the clips in one clip so that i want to apply the video effects to all the clips at the same time. a tutorial for this would be really helpful. I have purchased the full version of Sony Vegas Pro.

i tired Vegas pro 11 and i love but the bad part was it was the demo and i was really getting hang of it my 30 days was up and i been work on saving my money for it but gas and food and helping my family out it was in possible and now i want Sony Vegas Pro 12 so i can start vlogging again because i love it and my last editing software was slow this will speed it up fast and help me keep doing my dream to become a popular vlogger on you tube
what type of camera do you use to record your music videos?
I want Sony Vegas Pro 12 because I have several of my own channels that I edit for as well as for others and I use Windows Movie Maker because I don't have the money to get any better. I am also starting a music channel that I have already written songs for but lack the editing software to make a decent video to go with them. Also you guys are amazingly talented and one of my favorite bands of all time.
I'm liking the cut & remove with the brackets and i love the B roll flash too that's pretty sweet! I have the same disorganized practices as you guys , usually i just drag the files straight to a new folder on my desktop until it's edited and i have it posted to youtube i then make the decision to keep or trash the raw files. I'm LOVING that color match / correct too. that's AWESOME! I was just about to ask if you still used Premiere also when you brought it up, might have to sell a kidney now.
