I bought one of these pcs and set it up myself with Batocera. I also designed a 3D-printed stand for it to stand it vertically. It's smaller than a Wii and I hooked it up with a USB Wii bar and a Sinden.
That's awesome! Good thinking printing a stand too! I like it vertical as well
I've converted a lot of my old, unused laptops to Batocera. It's literally a game changer.
@@OfficialChaseBroganhey just wondering if you can tell me since it has the original PlayStation does that list of games include diablo if so I'd love to get that how did you get it.
Finally someone that knows these systems and says he's gonna test out N64 games for sure.....+subbed
You can emulate n64 on a shitty phone or tablet even at a better resolution fine. Why is it so hard on pc?
Do you know if this is Bluetooth compatible?
N64 games where designed different like all of Nintendo they don’t play about their license
This is fantastic. I love that there's a wide range of classic consoles up to ps2 and game cube. I love the idea of funding a c64 library and adding it, since the emulation is already there. I'll have to learn how to make additions to this... But definitely a great plug and play option. This is the first one I feel confident in purchasing.
Ty, sir. You deserve a follow for all the work and time you put in your videos and review.
Thanks for the support! Much appreciated
We’re I can get one
@@THAT_GIRL_LEAH_8do it yourself
The whole interface with the video previews, game boxes, descriptions etc. are fantastic. Seeing it being able to emulate the Wii U so well is pretty mind blowing too. It takes a pretty damn powerful CPU to do that.
How do you do that ? I would really l8ke to no
and its no longer available

These repurposed office PCs are underrated emulation monsters. I have a Dell small form factor PC running an i7 CPU with the Batoceeo front-end, and it plays PS2, OG X-box and even Sega Model 3 perfectly.
I have almost the identical model of HP as in this review and I was amazed that many of the Sega Model 3 games work fine on a 5th gen i5. My primary game device is a MiSTer FPGA.
@@ganjaguy930 Yes you can. I have my Dell plugged in to our living room TV.
Very much this. I have an Optiplex 7040 micro. Bumped up the RAM and installed a 1TB SSD and 256GB m.2 drive, then dropped a prebuilt 512GB Batocera image on there before I started customizing the heck out of it.
Only issues I have with it are minor, because when it's working, it's working beautifully!
The issues are:
* When connecting to a 4k TV, using custom boot videos is troublesome, because Batocera plays those videos before the video drivers are up and running, meaning it's using the more generic, raw Linux core that autodetects the TV's capabilities and plays the videos at that resolution. These little micros aren't keen to play 4k video, so it's very choppy. :D
* Batocera v37 seems to have some kind of bug in it, where running the console more than an hour or so without inputs will cause some kind of freeze. If the freeze happens when the TV is off, you won't get a display when you turn it back on. You have to hard-boot to get functionality back. I think this might be a bus sleep bug of some sort, but that secondary m.2 drive is how I get around it.
That m.2 drive has a Linux Lite installation on it, so I can use the box as a full desktop or stream Netflix/Disney+/Amazon/etc on it. That LL installation also does not suffer from the input freeze issue, so I usually let the system run that, then reboot to Batocera when I'm up for some gaming fun.
I'm not sure I'm really on-board with those Retro Rager folks making money off this. I mean, these little HP and Dell micro systems are all over the place on eBay and Facebook Martketplace, and it doesn't take any real effort to upgrade and install these buggers with Batocera and the games you REALLY want on there. (Hey, if you're okay buying one of these, you're okay downloading your own game ROMs and rips. Where do you think THEY got the games from??)
All these "entrepreneurs" are really doing is driving up the price and scarcity of these decommissioned systems.
@@weaselsworld Sorry to hear about your video issues. I have my Dell plugged into my Samsung 4K tv and never had any problems.
@@weaselsworldI think ur issue with output display not working after an hour can be fixed by changing the output display from AUTO to HDMI 1 for instance. That way its set to HDMI 1 only and not trying to find an output.
This actually isn't a bad deal for someone who doesn't have a ROM collection. It's even tempting to me because i hate setting up a front end and downloading all the boxart and stuff.
Wow!
I literally just spent the last week installing these into offices at my work. I work IT and it's a means to prep the facility to upgrade to Windows 11 in the next few years.
Anyway, I got myself the slightly upgraded silver trimmed one that I Velcroed to the back of my T.V. in a spare bedroom with wireless keyboard and mouse.
Obviously great for native emulation, but all around perfect for simple streaming services and even streaming from my main PC with Moonlight Game Streaming!
I really like your videos you give the system a chance before critiquing it and a short walkthrough which leads to very informative and trustworthy reviews.
Thank you for your kind words!
Last week I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 3060 mini PC (i5, 6 Cores, 8Gb) by $130 USD (here in Chile). No problems with WiiU, PS2 and XBOX, and no problems with lightweight XBOX360 and PS3 games (like Dead Space, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed or Race Games... heavy games like Red Dead Redemption or Last of Us, are unplayables).
what about switch games???
Awesome review
Congrats on 30K🎉

@@OfficialChaseBrogan Happy youtubing.
Neat idea for a product. Good vid!
Best for camping
This wasn’t bad it’s probably the best plug and play out there,I would prefer a 1tb version and a better selection of pS2 games.
Agreed. Good start though and for those that want more of those mid-range console collections like n64, gamecube, etc.
Wouldn’t we all 😂
Just add an external ssd as extra storage with roms on.
@@RetromanderROMS? From where, fellow young person?
Just add more on the memory card. Simples.
These mini PC's are the best if you are looking to upgrade your Arcade 1UP or Arcade Legends arcade machine. They play MAME well and truly give you an authentic experience. I don't use Batocera personally, I use Win 10 and Maximus Arcade. But as far as an emulation beast goes, these do very well.
Have you used these in arcade 1up machine yet. No HDMI I'm basically interested in GameCube and PS2 games a few Wii u games but that probably it for an arcade 1up set. Otherwise I'd buy an Intek switch fighting stick and a brooks encoder like I played mortal Kombat 1 on it and it's excellent but Intex switch fighting stick but if you're looking to do that and I'm just looking to mod like somebody's arcade one up they're going to have to spend the money you know but would you recommend this for a couple little ones I got like for $200 arcade went up mortal kombats and whatnot
@@jacobtoombs9206 I have, but honestly? I just basically "gut" the game boards from the Arcade 1up, purchase an HDMI mini board to still use the monitor, and use an Arcade Tankstick for the controls as they are prewired and have a built in USB encoder. I tell people if you don't feel comfortable installing a small motherboard on the Arcade 1UP monitor, you can use an old VGA or HDMI monitor. You will have to sand the monitor mount area as most regular monitors are slightly too large. But an older monitor will work. As for speakers, I use a set of Logitech USB speakers as they can be mounted at the top of the Arcade 1UP and give good sound and don't protrude. I always suggest the mini pc's as they have the grunt (Intel I3 and up) to do most arcade and console emulation. Now for PS1/2 id use an I5 based with 8GB RAM as the 3D can be demanding.
Do I need a PC or can I just set it up to my tv
@@kylelewis540The HP demonstrated is a PC that has an HDMI output. So it can hook up straight to an HDMI TV.
The fact that a light gun AND Wii controlers work on this system is more than worth the price!!!
Can anybody explain how a light gun works with this type of system?
@@danmorley6517you have to use a Mayflash sensor dolphin bar(you can get an off-brand one at a cheaper price). They pair with a Wii remote and you can use them as light guns
@@danmorley6517looks like he's using a sinden lightgun.
@@danmorley6517similar to a Wiimote the sindon has a camera in the unit and led lights on the tv like a sensor bar. Batocera has documentation on using it. Functionally it acts as a mouse, clicking points on the screen which the emulators receive as lightgun inputs. The sindon used here is great but expensive, a Wiimote in a gungrip has almost the same accuracy. Google "Batocera lightguns" for further info, they have a great support page.
Every time someone does these videos, the consoles, preloaded are no longer avail. 😢. This one looked like the most promising one, but its not available anymore. Is there any plug and play consoles like this readily available any more? Because i would of bought this today based off this video lol.
Can probably be done as a DIY, get the mini pc, os, and controllers.
@@bkThund3rthe whole point is wanting the plug and play tho. I work alot and am not a tinkerer. I want something to literally plug in, connect a controller and play. I will pay extra for the convenience. I feel OPs frustration.
Just don’t let it link to ur internet! People aren’t paying attention that these items from China are connecting to wifi
@@biglock74That... doesn't seem to have anything to do with the problem. It's that people simply want to buy a device, NOT have to put it together themselves from either hardware or software perspectives, and just play the device.
Same I was getting all excited until I read the description. Goddamnit
I got a kinhank for $74. It has 116000 games and came with 2 wireless controllers works pretty good. The only downside was doesn’t have any Xbox or ps2 games but I got it mostly for NES and genesis
Punch out??
The problem with those, is that they say 116,000 games but you'll end up with like 5 to 7 versions of the same game just in different languages. So in reality you end up with about 16,500 games which is still absolutely incredible. I have a question for you, with your Kinhank have you tried to use any other bluetooth wireless controllers than the ones provided and if you did what was your experience?
But kinhank is like a hard drive no? So you need to have a PC already . Some of us don't have a PC and want something all in one easy to play with no set up
No you don’t need a pc
Yes but of those 16.5k it brings it down to maybe 100 I’ve played since the 1980’s and maybe 20 of my favs that I play consistently
Ty for showing me exactly what I need on the road because I don’t want to invest in something expensive
So this is my brain wondering lol, but batocera is probably installed on the internal drive and set in the bios to start up automatically from there when you power up the pc, correct? Also, you could plug in an external drive with additional games on it and play them from that, correct? Another great video though!👍
You certainly could yeah. Thanks.
You should have gone into the BIOS to check what processor and how much RAM it came with
The website he purchased from shows Intel I5 6500T and 8gb ddr4
A few questions if you don't mind me asking.
#1 - Pretty obvious but i didn't hear you mention it we can use a bluetooth controller with this device right?
#2 - Is HULK Ultimate Destruction in either the XBOX or PS2 emulators/roms?
&
#3 - Does if have any kind of Retro Achievements or is it possible to download/install them. I've never heard of this particular OS so I'm curious to know.
Great video, subbed and liked!
It's a stock HP elitedesk 800 G2 with Batocera installed, yes they have Bluetooth natively and are a great little machine.
If it doesn't have a game just put it on there yourself. Batocera shows up in your network and the roms folder is shared by default. Just click on the computer called BATOCERA and copy the game into the PS2 folder.
Batocera has retroachievements built in, just log into your account from the menu.
I do love the interface screens of this build for sure!
Same!
If this had EVERY SINGLE GAME for ALL the Nintendo, Sega, Playstation and Xbox platforms and worked flawlessy I would buy one for $500+. Could honestly care less about all the other obscure game consoles they put on there.
At that price you could get a steam deck.
Nice setup. Thanks for the rundown of emulators on this system. But would of loved seeing the Mame arcade emulator. An also Castlevania Symphony of the Night for PS1.
How did you stream this old game play content tho .. ? Stream card .. capture card ? 23:24
As a huge fan of tekken tag, i noticed the slow down immediately, it seems the game runs at about 70% speed ish.
So maybe dont get it for ps2
"Not seeing a model number" Model number is directly above your thumb to the left of the Windows Logo sticker it's an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 mini 35w.
I see these videos every once in a while. I have no problem with emulation. I think emulation is great as it also preserves video game history while also letting a younger generation play titles they may never get there hands on physically. My only issue is that I dont agree with people making money by selling these systems preloaded with games.
Probably wouldn't happen if Sony and the likes would just allow backwards compatibility or even remaster (obviously more expensive) more of these old games. Shit I'd pay money for a chance to play these games again
I am new to emulation units though interested in Nintendo, ps1&2 and Xbox games. Can you recommend a unit that will run these games?
21:02 luckily that restaurant uses bulletproof tablecloths.
I love Medal of Honor Underground (PS1) ❤
It looks to me that the Wii U Mario Tennis was running slow. I appreciate your videos, but I would appreciate them more if you add the performance overlay and maybe checking upscaling the games.
Looking into buying elite desk for emulation. Will the performance be ok with a stock gpu
Like Thomas said I watch it just to see what it had then hopefully purchase it. Are there any similar pre loaded hard drives available? Specifically with good working Blitz games?
This has probably been asked and answered but, how do you add or remove games?
Is there maybe a video on this?
When you connect any Batocera PC to your network it shows up as a network drive with the ROMs folder shared by default. Just open it and copy your roms from any PC. There is a file manager on it to copy from a connected drive but it's often easier to just use the network share.
😂😂😂😂 was waiting waiting for "wats up everybody, my name is scott" at the intro
So I see you say it’s not available any longer.. I really want something dang close to this, I just want a plug and play stand alone one. Can you please lead me in right direction with some links.. I want this one so bad 😢 because I’m not savvy enough to know what to download, where to put it and all that jazz. Please help me get the ultimate setup for my kids and I 🙏🏼
According to batocera nation don't need dolphin bar with batocera. Just USB Wii sensor bar. Also can play light gun games with Wii remote in same way. Actually says best not to use dolphin bar.
Dolphin bar is basically a Wii sensor bar when in mode 4 🤷🏼♂️. Whatever works though. I've used the mayflash dolphin bar for years with Batocera and it works incredibly well. If there's cheaper more basic alternatives then that's only a good thing.
@@OfficialChaseBrogan apparently has dolphin bar emulator built into batocera. Think that's what he said
I love the very gentrified adapter option, or VGA for short.
Insta-subbed. Watched your other two recent P&P reviews like Gamestick and Game grid, but your video reviews steered me away from them due to various performance issues. This seems like a terrific budget console.
Thanks! Yeah definitely the better option
Great video!!! I’m looking to get one but in uk.did Tony hawks have music? And ps1? Many thanks
Yeah there's ps1. Didn't bother with it in demo because it's not hard to emulate so everything works perfect there. Tony hawk has music I just muted the music because of copyright claims. I love that soundtrack but if I don't mute the tracks I get a copyright claim on my video from the hands that play.
Ahhhh yeah that makes sense I thought it might be,I think this might be what I’m looking for looks great!!
Thanks for the video! Looking for a system. This or Game Grid 2? What is your recommendation? I want everything preloaded
This isn't available anymore but I'd run from the game grid 2 these days. They have two parties fighting over the product so there two websites selling it now. Quality has been horrendous lately from what I hear. Shoot me an email on my site through the contact page I'll make a recommendation
I will try to email you too. I am computer illiterate and need something plug and play pre loaded with the 2000s systems like this has
I need this in my life
I still love my nVidia Shield Pro w/ Nostalgia.
Love the video, What the name of that light gun you had? I really want a system like this maybe up to PS2. I really want those light gun games and Wii games.
Sinden light gun
Star Wars Rogue Squadron ll would sell me on any system. They remastered to perfection with Metroid: Prime they need to do the same with RSll.
Totally agree. Even the original I was a fan of too.
Holy crap, I thought no one loved janky gauntlet legends. I play it through at least once a year, favorite version is ps2.
That's my favorite game. I have such fond memories playing it through in the arcade multiple times as a kid. Loved how the cabinet would allow you to save your progress through your initials.

I have a somewhat similar HP tiny form factor PC for emulation. Mine has the particular model number as the very last text on the back of the PC, it is really small text that you may need a magnifying glass to read. This will let you know which one it is. Great video BTW.
The consoles I care about the most are the PlayStation 1 and 2 and the Nintendo 64 it absolutely annoys me that this is no longer for sale, it has literally everything that I'm looking for right now. I absolutely have zero interest and doing all of this on my own. I just want to plug in and play, is there any other emulation consoles that have the exact same games and play as well?
Hey send me an email through contact page on my site I'll send some info over your way

Is there anything similar available? I am new to this whole retro gaming emulation. I have a super gaming computer. But I would much prefer a straight forward plug and play ready to go gaming console? or something with games all setup ready to play... Any help would be great. This looks like it had pretty much all the main console games etc. that I am after. Budget is not an issue.
Also advice and links for good controllers and guns etc.... Would love a list my friend and some link. High Quality. But this looked great. Not sure if there is something I can plug in and run off my current PC?? Hope to hear from you soon!

Or sites to get reliable Emulators and Roms?
I'm looking for a plug and play system to play light gun games. Will this one do, or are there better options out there? Also what guns do you suggest? Thanks.
I've ordered this little system, just waiting on it to arrive. Wondering though, is their a tutorial on how to add and delete games from this system? Like an easy tutorial for beginners as I'm not very experienced with computers?
Thanks
When you plug it into your network or connect to wifi it will show up in the network folder on your other computers as BATOCERA. Just open it on your computer and open the ROMs folder, there you will have all the systems as individual folders with the ROMs inside. Add and delete whatever you like.
@@Coffee_Scroll Oh awesome, that sounds easy enough. Thank you heaps! Legend!
Hi RCG, fascinating "How to" 👍Just a quick question, I have an unused Lenovo ThinkCentreSFF i5 12th gen, with Windows 10. Is there a way to get back to Windows, if I install Batocera for a while, then want to get it back to Windows based?
Hey not if you overwrite the windows drive. You could get a secondary drive and just swap it out though and then you can always reinstall the windows one back in later on
Is the PC already converted to Batocera that the link goes to? Or do we have to purchase, download, and install ourselves?
What is a ps1 collection without final fantasy, resident evil, or metal gear solid?
So where do you get a laser gun to work with this system? And a Wii controller?
But does it have Wu-Tang Shaolin style for ps1? 13:58
Thanks for showing original XBOX and Project Gotham Racing. I was disappointed but not surprised this system struggled to run it. Original XBOX is one of my favorite consoles and PGR one of my favorite games. I can't wait until most original XBOX games can be emulated to near perfection. It feels like it's getting close.
It's definitely come a long way from where it started just a couple years ago. I think it'll be there in 2 years max
I am horrified that this is considered retro....
Do you any plug and plays that give a lot of ps2 games? I miss playing the ps2 games

Is there any Gundam games that's on the PlayStation 1 & 2 and DreamCast? I'm an old Gundam fan and love to replay those games. Wish I never got rid of my PS2 along with the games and hoping something like this would have those Gundam games on it
Can you add your own roms? There some games there i would just remove and add the must ones like Illbleed or such.
Yeah I've started to do that myself actually
What Pokémon games does this have on it? Are you able to add emulators and games to it? Like if I wanted to add a DS one and those games? Great video tho I’m so tempted to buy this.
Heaps!
Batocera pretty much has every system emulator ready to go. They don't show up in the interface unless there are ROMs available. Just throw the ROMs in the folder and it will have a ds menu.
Collection seems heavy on sports games, wonder if we will eventually see them favouring certain genres, such as RPG heavy lists with Final Fantasies, Mario RPG, Suikoden, Wild Arms etc
A lot of redundancy for me as would probably never play a single NBA, NFL, FIFA, WWE or fighter game
That would be my dream scenario. Those are the games I actually want to play.
How did you use a lightgun on this?? I want to know that info
Regardless of which high end controller you get the N64 racing games will do the same thing. You have to mess with the joy stick sensitivity settings.
Hello there I was wondering if you could tell me,what i need to play the light gun games do I just need the gun or do I need that dolphin sensor you were talking about like the Wii games, what light gun do I need many thanks, great video
Pretty sure the dolphin sensor is for if you are using original wii motes. The other guns that would work with this (Sinden, Aimtrak etc.), you'll have set up based on their req's. I've got an Aimtrak and it came with a light bar sensor that I since replaced with something much better that works for a 65 in. TV.
