iRacing | Can I Survive iRacing Rain CARNAGE? Ray FF1600 @ Okayama

  • Well, it had to happen sometime. Now I’m back on iRacing, I knew it was only a matter of time before it rained. And boy is it raining today for this Formula 1600 Thrustmaster Trophy race at Okayama.
    I’m fearing the worst here. It’s my first experience of iRacing rain - even the practice server was dry, so my first ever wet lap was in qualifying. As a result, I took it VERY easy. I’ll be starting from P10, but that’s only because nearly half the grid chose not to set a lap time.
    Now, don’t expect me to attack in this one. I was competitive in iRacing Ray FF1600 action last week, but today is all about being as careful and as safe as possible, and seeing if I can survive it…

      Thank you mate. Yeah, I only race a few times a week so I don’t want to be taking risks and increasing the chances of not finishing. Trouble is, a lot of people have time to race 4-5 times a day… so they’re not as worried if a race gets wrecked, they just do it again an hour later. For me, I’ll do one race and then might have to wait 3-4 days for the next one… so I’ll always try my best to stay safe on track and make sure it’s time well spent! Cheers

      Also I think a lot of people race against AI and/or w/ the damage turned off in single player mode then get used to being able to still finish the race or easily restart w/o it affecting their safety rating.
      Especially if they race the AI in another sim (if the sim's AI behaves differently and they don't compensate for that) and/or w/ the aggression turned down so used to the opponents giving up the position more easily.

      I tend to agree. Honestly, I’m not a fan of wet weather racing in any sim. If I see rain conditions for a race, I choose not to enter it… I just don’t find it fun, and as I only race irregularly, I’d rather wait for a dry this. This one caught me out… I’m not used to checking iRacing for weather! They’ve done a decent job with the rain BUT I reckon they’ve gone way too overboard with it. Like, every time it rains, it’s a monsoon. It’s too much… in real life, races would get red flagged if the conditions were as dangerous as the iRacing rain conditions! I think they just need to dial it back a bit.

    Jeez. People are nuts. I like the rain in ACC as I seem to be quite good (first win outside bottom split was in the rain - I usually struggle to get into top half in the dry) but the rain in iRacing seems to be on a completely different level. Survival seems to be the key and you managed that, so I'd count that as a victory.

    • @chrisrogerssimracing
      @chrisrogerssimracing  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I actually think they’ve gone a little bit overboard with the rain in iRacing. It’s meant to make things more realistic, but the rain is SO heavy - with huge puddles of standing water and zero visibility - that you’d get a red flag most of the time IRL. So I reckon they should tone it down a little bit, similar to how it is in ACC

    • @daviddavies3637
