Hi, I'm a self taught drummer and I've been playing for a year and a few months and i would guess that I'm maybe at an intermediate level (i can play lots of double bass stuff and led zeppelin beats, ect ect) but i still haven't learned any full songs. Do you have any tips on how i can learn full arrangements because its still a mystery and a challenge to me. Thanks :)
busch Hi, can you read music? If so, you can pick up a transcription book with some intermediate rock songs to start with. If you don’t read music, I’d recommend finding a teacher and learning. If you don’t want to do that, then I think you have to learn by ear (also ok).
@@mattthompsondrums Matt, thank you for your time and answer! If you can have a couple more questions) How are your rehearsals at King Diamond? When creating a new material, do you always rehearse the whole group, or does the main work take place individually at home? Does King ever attend rehearsals?) Is it worth waiting for a new album from King in the near future? Thank you for your work!)
Oleg Ivanov In the past, we haven’t rehearsed new material for new albums, King makes his demos and Andy makes his. When we rehearse, it’s before a tour, and King does rehearse with us.
Hi Matt! I love that ride cymbal pattern on the first part of Welcome Home, can you explain that?
Thanks, Matt you are amazing, glad you are as good teaching as you are drumming, me and my kid r happy!
Very cool lesson! If you could do a rig run down on your king diamond setup. I'd friggin love that
Ok, I can do it...but not until the tour starts late October.
And thanks for the sub 🤘🤘
At 3:04 I was immediately hearing "Benny and the jets"!!!
Close! It’s “Pharaoh and His Pets”!

Thanks Matt! I have long wanted to ask, if it's hard to be a drummer of King Diamond?)
Oleg Ivanov That is a complex question. Musically...not really? Once it’s memorized, it’s memorized.
