It was a major rearrangement of the contract cast lineup. It was pretty expensive to update TV show openings back then, so the EP JFP was very stingy with frequent updates and the show went almost 11 months with 0 updates. In December 1999, they had to redo the entire opening and a lot of cast shots changed resolution. She hinted at that in an interview. In April 2000, the same thing happened, where many changes were made to everyone featured except Erika. This update was intended to shuffle around many cast members, according to Gary Tomlin's vision. In soaps, the first and the last shown in the cast credits, are the most important. This was the first credits version to feature Todd at the beginning, a lot of new cast shots, etc. Not only that, before this major update, he had the theme music re-recorded back in February 2001. Previous times they either slightly remixed it or re-recorded it with identical notes. Gary Tomlin was very spendy in this area, through the end of his tenure.
