- Join us as we follow Union Pacific Big Boy #4014 on its historic run over Donner Pass! This was my first time chasing a steam locomotive on the mainline. Despite the challenges, it was a lot of fun, and the end result turned out better than I ever expected. I hope you all enjoy! :D

The maintenance on that must be insane. God bless the guys that do it.
That, along with fuel consumption, is the main reason steam locomotives were retired and replaced by diesel engines.
I can’t wait too see big boy in Colorado in September!!!
This trip was absolutely insane and I cant wait to do it again where we will find our selves in another motel of questionable condition :3
Like that colon and figure three! i.e. :3 there i've done it myself greetings from UK England that place on the other side of the pond 🤣
Liked this one! Greetings from UK England other side of the pond named after locomotives with 4-4-2 wheel arrangement our loading gauge is too small no way BB could work on our rail system ☹ Thanks for uploading👍👍👍👍
I remember seeing my 1st time seeing it in ogden utah 3 days ago it was an awesome experience
Thanks for posting!
I originally had plans to see 4014 during the few days it was back in California, but due to stuff going on such as work, my book, among other things, I sadly had to miss out on it. Still, I do hope to see 4014 again as I know I will at some point in the future.
It's really a sight to see in person. Videos simply don't do justice to how big and loud it is.
@@Buynot mhm, I got to see the engine myself during its southwest tour in 2019. Still one of my favorite train-related memories where I saw a giant train in operation, but also talked and had a photo together with Ed Dickens. It's something I'll certainly never forget.
It was a fun day. Happy to share
Great event, super video, thanks.
Since 1985! Metra Gives up!
Good now wheres the next a look back At more locomotives?
And Now Metra Gets Sued up! Since 1989!
The eastbound Zephyr is train 6, however in your narration you call it train 5, the westbound Zephyr
@@HunterLohseRRVideos You're right! That's my bad, I should've caught that.
Plan on making more a look back at steam excursion stars videos?
I do! I've just had a lot going on in life since the last time I made one (plus a tad bit of burnout from the whole series). I'm still not certain when it will come out, but do know there is a new one in the works still.
@@Buynot Awesome! I'm seeing 4014 in September!
Since 1985!
actually!
UP needs to START flyiing US flags on the front of the Big Boy...a little more patriotism here... LOVE the BB - it's an American icon of greatness - it must never be destroyed - it's beautiful.
Huhhh!!! Have you watched this video or any others? The American flag is always on the right front of the locomotive and the applicable state flag is on the front left. Troll???
