I`m 62 and been a runner for 47 years. You give great advice on here even for experienced runners. I`d add one more "tip." Enjoy your running and train to live, not live to train. Forget times, calories, how much good it does you and as often as possible just enjoy moving. Get to a beach and run calf deep in the surf where sky meets shore, even better still do it when its raining and just enjoy the moment and being young, fit and alive.

ha ha ha. Yeah... but in a good way.
In the beginning, after watching a few videos on running form (not just Natacha's)... I thought.... wow... "Are these people crazy?"... and "How have I managed all these years?" Good tips from Natacha in this video though, and you pick up a few other tips here and there (from other sources). One of the things I've always done on some of my longer 10 to 21km (6 to 13 miles) runs is focus on that breathing in-time with my steps (I think mine was more like 2 out, 2 in). It also gets you to focus on your breathing - with an aim to try and slow it down, and take deeper breaths. I have tried to also run with my chin more level to the ground - to open the airway - that makes sense.

The thing which really helped my running (especially mid/long distance) was understanding my mentality. 1. So firstly, remember that it will always get easier ... and then harder... and then easier ... and then harder - your mental and physical state fluctuates so don't give up when it gets hard as it will always get easier again! 2. Secondly, I found that once I'd broken the 'sweat-barrier' I found it much easier to keep going. But getting to that point (which may be a couple of miles into the run) I find really really hard; the first (miles) are the worst!

    • @teeemm9456

Sprinting: don’t be tensed, look straight ahead with shoulders down, elbows at 90 degrees, knees high and parallel to the body, land on tip of feet
Mid Distance: stay relaxed, don’t pump arms, knees not as high, land on tip of feet to middle of feet, don’t exhaust yourself at beginning, focus on technique

One tip to help with breathing on long distances is to chew gum while running. It has a natural way of informing you of how your pacing and breathing is. If you can't breathe you're running too fast for a long distance and should slow down and also if you are like me, chewing forces me to breathe in a rhythmic manner as well. Hope this helps!

No idea who said running isn't effective for weight loss, it's indisputably one of the most effective calorie burning cardio activities. Although weight loss is ultimately about calories in vs out.

My training has completely changed since I started watching your videos. I used to be a dancer, and I did track, but over time I lost sense of what my body was capable of. I have weight trained for two years, but I’ve since implemented the more athletic aspects of your training into my weight training (including running again), and I’m shocked at what my body can do. I am also seeing my body change rapidly (much faster than the two years it took to see drastic change from weight training). So thank you! I feel like I’m finding my heart in being active again.

I wasn't to go for an amazing pace but was literally blown away by how good the run was.
