    I’m glad that it wasn’t the ECM. If I bought an EFI equipped mower it wouldn’t be this one or any other MTD brands. If I did it would be a Kawi but that’s a big “if”. At least someone is taking care of it. I can’t imagine what an ECM would cost for this mower or if it’s even available.

      The Kawasakis really are nice but with all the electronics I don't think these engines belong on lawn equipment at all. I have seen several with varying issues and they are only a few years old with very low hours. The last one I did had a burnt wire at the engine connection that needed repaired. The wiring really is a pain to find issues with if it is an intermittent issue. Thanks for watching!

    A lot of great information. I like how you check the basic things first. I like switching out battery hardware. 1/4-20 3/4 long sst with washers on both sides. Won’t dig into posts and won’t corrode.

      Exactly what I do in most cases, normally I don't even bother saving the old bolts if I take them off. These bolt/nut pairs they put on seem to work pretty well and were in good shape so I left them instead. Thanks for watching!

      Interesting! I haven't heard anything about this but am interested what is going on? They not tuned right for high heat situations getting too much fuel or what?

    Thanks, work on these, when lucky, usually they are a lot older models, at a dealership up in the cold north, Canada. Wish they were all that simple and just shows sometime it can be an easy fix, you just have to know where to look. Tried finding your spark checker online, but it seems to be sold out everywhere.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, figured this would be a ton of tracing down but found it pretty quick for the type of issue it was. The problem comes when you can't get it to act up and don't really know what's not working when it will turn over but won't start. Thanks for watching!

      Well worth every penny. I paid an unreasonable amount (around $120 each from Australia if I remember right) for a couple of them when they stopped making them under the previous name years ago. You do not know what you lost till it is gone! Thanks for watching!

    I checked battery first and then jumper cables from ground on battery to the engine block
    It’s a fast find on bad ground on frame or loss engine to frame 😊

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      It sure is a good way, I normally don't have any in my area so I do it a little different but that or hooking between ground and battery negative with voltage drop method. Thanks for watching!

  • @fishnriver
    @fishnriver 4 месяца назад +1

    Before going thru the trouble of taking the battery out or tracking down the ground cable, just connect a jumper cable fron the battery post to the engine block. That way you know if it's the ground connection.

      Good tips there! I always like to check all the connections under the battery anyway. Many times we use a meter to test most of it. Thanks for watching!

    On these fuel injected models do you know if there is a scan tool available for purchase? I beleive it hooks up to the Throttle body itself as that's where the Ecm lives. Also have you had any issues with these Push button starts Not shutting off a running engine?
    Thanks for the videos on the Efi units. Not much out there.

    Do you think the EFI would eliminate most the ethanol fuel issues ?

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      It does eliminate most ethanol issues with gum or varnish and quality of fuel does not make as much of an impact since it is finely sprayed (injected). Thanks for watching!
