I'm actually a little surprised you didn't include Mickie James while she was Impact Womens Champ. Pretty big deal at the time, though granted she did announce her bid prior to the rumble but still was a good surprise.
Edge's 2020 rumble return will always be my favorite. I didn't expect it, and it was just such an emotional moment after 9 years of thinking he was done for good.
It was one of the few times I had stayed away from the dirt sheets, so I was luckily completely caught off guard. Edge was and is my favorite of all time, so you can imagine the joy I felt.
Edge fan here. I knew from dirt sheets that he was rumored. But that didn’t stop me from losing my mind. Not only did he come back but he came back with longer hair and RIPPED
I cried. I had decided that was the year I was gonna stop listening to the rumors and just accept it wasn't happening and when his music hit I just got emotional
They really should have brought christian back a year earlier. Have that great moment in front of the crowd, and the night of edge's return. It may have been a little overbooked but ultimately that moment needed a better rumble than it got
Cena might've returned a few months earlier than everyone expected him to, but Edge returned after everyone, including himself, thought he would never wrestle another match for the rest of his life, and that alone makes his 2020 Rumble return the best of all time imo.
@@nategarver7643 Just gotta avoid them. I unfollowed every news source I followed before 2020 rumble so it was a complete surprise. I also have no idea what is supposed to be happening this year either
Probably would have beaten out cena if it wasn't the biggest news story heading into the rumble. Like half the reason I tuned into the 2020 rumble was because I heard edge might return. Had it not been reported on then yeah that would beat out the crazy superman that is cena.
Personal favourite of mine was Jillian Hall from the 2021 Women's Rumble; Billie Kay's comedy at the start of that match was fantastic, and her teaming up with Hall was a great moment (despite me never seeing her, her entrance was more than enough to pop me).
I was at a restaurant for the 2013 Royal Rumble, and the whole place went unglued with Jericho. It's amazing how the Royal Rumble is one of the most nonsensical concepts ever, yet so, so, fun and memorable.
Cena's Royal Rumble 2008 surprise return blew the roof off MSG. Never have I seen someone get such a huge pop where the crowd as well as in-ring wrestlers were in absolute disbelief.
Edge's 2nd return was so damn emotional, it still makes me tear up, the face he makes coming out of the smoke, his song lyrics taking on a whole new meaning, the crowd going insane, honest to god even I was surprised cuz I never thought he was going to come back to the ring. He was so happy, everyone was happy, it was such a feel good moment that it made that year a little more tolerable.
AJ styles debut was phenomenal (No put intended). 2016 was the year of AJ styles. When i think of that year, AJ styles immediately is the one of the wrestler that pop to my mind.
RVD'S appearance in the 2009 Royal Rumble Match was awesome great continuity with him immediately going after Kane was a great callback when Kane turned heel 6-years earlier on Raw that was great and Bob Backland's return in 2000 was absolutely hilarious especially JR'S reaction Bubba Ray Dudley showing up in the 2015 Royal Rumble Match and Torrie Wilson and Lita's return in the 2021 women's Royal rumble Match was amazing Hopefully they appear in this year's along with Victoria that would be awesome for fans of the Divas Era.
Although I was hoping it would be higher on the list, Hacksaw’s 2009 return got an out of nowhere explosion pop that lasted 5 minutes and included both Kane and The Undertaker selling for him. It was amazing and hopefully helped people forget his last year in WCW.
I LITERALLY CRIED and JUMPED WITH JOY when Christian returned in 2021! Christian Cage is my Favorite Wrestler of ALL TIME and I was coming to terms with the fact that he would never wrestle again and it was so surreal to see him back in the ring after 7 long years! I honestly popped bigger when Christian returned than when CM Punk returned to wrestling later that year in AEW 😭😭🤘🏻
aj styles in 2016 legit felt like something you'd only see in the most batshit insane fantasy bookings of the mid 2000's. witnessing it happen before your very eyes still doesn't feel real even with aj's awesome runs in raw and smackdown since
4:04 Pretty sure Mr Perfect wasn't a _surprise_ entrant, since his appearance (along with that of Goldust and The Godfather) was announced ahead of time (and even in the opening package of the PPV itself iirc).
I didn't expect Edge in 2020 and when he showed up I lost my mind and slammed my chair so loud it scared my mom in the other room. I was never a huge Edge fan but I was super happy to see him back and in better health.
Edge returning in 2010 had the entire house flying around. I mean we was running around to different rooms screaming 🤣 Thankfully none of us expected it
So if Mick Foley can enter as multiple gimmicks, maybe Cody should enter as Stardust and reappear as Cody, and maybe Bray Wyatt could enter first as himself and then the Fiend later on.
Say what you will about Kevin Nash about his reputation across professional wrestling (good, bad or neutral), but his return as "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel in the one & only 40-Men Royal Rumble 2011 was fun to see. Matt Striker was the most enthusiastic in the commentary team back then and rocked during the days of Lucha Underground.
In 2010, you kinda hoped Edge would come back at the rumble, but you weren't quite sure. In 2020, there was no way in *hell* Edge was coming back, then he did. I still go back and watch em.
Edge in 2020 was my favorite, and I use it all the time to show non-wrestling fans why wrestling is great (his story, his neck, the come back, persevering). Forget that it was the comeback of pyro, and the first verse of his theme is almost a victory song for that exact moment
My favorite moment in Adam's career is when he confronted AJ Styles about lying to his face when he asked if he was going to be in the Rumble & AJ said no & then he was in the Rumble.
Roman coming in at #30 in 2017 is the EXACT OPPOSITE of this list. Seriously, go looking for live reaction videos of this Rumble. I GUARANTEE you someone will have commented a timestamp of Roman's #30 entrance because the hope and excitement draining from all the faces is too damned tragic and funny to miss.
In 2020, I chose to watch the rumble and mania since I watched mania the previous year and I chose to do the same but watch rumble this time. I cried at edges return. Back then I didn’t pay attention to wrestling journalism, wasn’t into wrestling RUclips, and I’m so glad because that pure moment for me of joy seeing my favourite childhood wrestler return after retiring nearly a decade earlier made me relive all those moments again. Man what a moment ❤
You know what would have easily had been a top 5 return if WWE didn't spoil it... Mickie James coming in as the Impact Women's Champion. The pop would have been insane especially since they used Hardcore Country for her music.
Becky, 2019. Being booked early in the show and losing her match to then steal an entry and win the Rumble deserves to be in here. Sure we all could see that’s where it was going, but was arguably a surprise all things considered. The pop in the arena sticks with me to this day.
Royal Rumble 2008 was the first PPV was allowed to stay up and watch. There I am, a kid, playing with my WWE action figures and heard number 30 go off. One of the Times were my eyes got wide hearing John Cena music go off. 2008 will always be my number Royal Rumble Surprise moment
6:20 I remember that, the day after watching the 2018 men RR match, I immediately aknowledged it as one of the best editions ever. That RR match was just epic. And a lot of people would laugh at me claiming it wasn't that great. Now, years later, people are finally opening their eyes. I also remember I was really pissed about the fact that it wasn't the main event. But of course they had to put the women's match there because it was the first women's Rumble ever
2020 was the first rumble I watched as it happened anf that match made me remember why I love wrestling. Drew eliminating Brock on route to his breakout moment winning but Edge's return was so damn good I watched it minimum 20 times over again.
Everyone says the AJ Debut was a camera angle botch, and maybe it was, but I loved it. We didn't KNOW he was coming. We didn't know the music, so when we see the confusion on Roman's face, we know its someone new. Then to see him walk out - BOOM! Surprise! AJ Styles! The crowd gets to react before the TV audience and that adds to the moment, IMO.
Some of my other favourites: Honky Tonk Man in 2001 Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper in 2008 Jerry Lawler and Booker T in 2012 Ricardo Rodriguez in 2012 Kharma in 2012
Honorable mention for me is Bad Bunny at 2022's Rumble. Sure, he isn't a regular, but considering the positives out of his match at WM 37 and the moves he got to pull off at the Rumble (also taking the F5 like a champ), I say it was a very good surprise
Man, the first 5-seconds of a pFk video are always full of suspense. If I don’t hear Adam’s voice I just can’t watch. Fortunately, we’re in luck with this one 🥂
Just the image of John Cena grabbing his left sleeve in the list made me remember how he takes of his shirt. Awesome! It's dang smooth and incredibly fast.
Lesnar sold Keith Lee as a genuine threat before he even got to the ring, too. Don't forget, if you read his lips he says "that's a BIG BOY!" with a crazy look on his face. That's good setup from Bork Lazar.
9:30 my favorite thing about the Many Faces of Foley is that they legit get treated like different wrestlers - when he feuded with HHH in the attitude era, he made the transition from Mankind to Cactus Jack (I believe, it's been a hot minute), and while HHH treated Mankind like a joke, he looked ready to soil himself when Cactus Jack "appeared" to fight him.
edge was my favorite return, it was the first time i ever cried watching wrestling, when i saw the look on his face it got me because i think even he thought he wasn’t supposed to be here again but here was.
I used to host WWE PPVs on a monthly basis, and we had a draw pool for every Rumble. Well, in 1998, my brother-in-law Kevin drew 4 numbers. 3 were The 3 Faces of Foley, and the 4th was Concrete Charlie (Terry Funk). That was probably the most fun we had during a Rumble, and also the last time we did that pool.
Backlund was probably the second surprise return. The first that I can think of is Honky Tonk in 98, although that one pales in comparison to his 01 entry which should have at least got an honorable mention.
Sometimes when I’m having a bad day, I revisit the AJ Styles debut. I wasn’t even watching wrestling at that time, nor knew wrestling existed outside WWE when i saw it, but that reaction transcends all of that … its incredible
NOBODY saw Edge returning in 2020. The emotion on his face will always choke me up, but Cenas return...yeah...THEE top guy returning ahead of schedule, that makes sense.
I'm surprised Mickie James's entry at the 2022 Rumble wasn't mentioned. Yes, pretty much everyone knew it was planned. It's just the shock of WWE not only including another companies champion, but going so far as to have both the entry graphic and the announcers say that she was the Impact Women's Champion should have at least earned her an honorable mention. Heck they even used her Impact entry music instead of her WWE one.
He should be higher he literally blew up wrestling fans and wrestling in general. The fact he went to aew has nothing to do with anything he was still in wwe even was on the bump just before he went. He made his return in wwe. This is a joke channel
I must be the only fan who doesn't think keeping the camera on Roman during AJ's entrance wasn't the wrong decision. The reason I think this is because it kept the people watching at home as clueless as Roman while hearing the fans in the arena going nuts only to then be shown who it was. A perfect reveal.
I love how, according to Mick Foley himself, when he told one of his kids that he was in a Royal Rumble at 3 different spots the child's reply was "And you still didn't win?" Hilarious.
I think I will always be partial to the hurricanes return in 2018. He was only in the rumble for one spot and one spot only, but man it was great to see him again and it's a very funny moment.
Every man wants to be a Royal Rumble man To have the kind of luck always in demand Joggin' down the rampway, go man go Workouts in the backstage, muscles grow You can best believe me, he's a Rumble man Glad he took you down with anyone he can.

AJ’s debut is the best moment of any RR for me.
AJ Styles in 2016 is definitely one of my favorites. Especially since it led to tons of great matches after he came in at Number 3.

My God, it's been 7 years already when I saw the arrival of "The Phenomenal One" and ruled WWE 2016.

It's just the shock of WWE not only including another companies champion, but going so far as to have both the entry graphic and the announcers say that she was the Impact Women's Champion should have at least earned her an honorable mention. Heck they even used her Impact entry music instead of her WWE one.
No one beats the goat Christian he blew up the wrestling world and had one of the greatest returns of all time with no real crowd. Just goat stuff
He should be higher he literally blew up wrestling fans and wrestling in general. The fact he went to aew has nothing to do with anything he was still in wwe even was on the bump just before he went. He made his return in wwe. This is a joke channel
2:15 the video starts
I remember how good Dillinger vs Roode at Takeover Toronto was, then the rumble appearance months later made me pop so damn loud
Goldust is a legend. Dustin Runnels is an interesting chap.
# 1 and 1A best surprise entrants: Edge and AJ styles
I literally fell to my knees in tears when edge came back.
I lost my voice when Edge returned in 2020
God what a moment
Big Match John
Matt Striker reaction for Diesel’s return 🤣
I love how, according to Mick Foley himself, when he told one of his kids that he was in a Royal Rumble at 3 different spots the child's reply was "And you still didn't win?" Hilarious.
I think I will always be partial to the hurricanes return in 2018. He was only in the rumble for one spot and one spot only, but man it was great to see him again and it's a very funny moment.
Christian's return would've been LEGENDARY, if commentary hadn't just casually mumbled out, "oh, speaking of Edge, here comes his buddy..."
I absolutely did go out of my tiny mind when Mr. Perfect returned in 2002
AJ Styles debut in 2016 and Edge's return in 2020 will always be my favorites
Every man wants to be a Royal Rumble man
To have the kind of luck always in demand
Joggin' down the rampway, go man go
Workouts in the backstage, muscles grow
You can best believe me, he's a Rumble man
Glad he took you down with anyone he can.
Great choice on 2008. Thats a moment that will never be replicated.
Considering he’s done about 70 lists on royal rumbles I wonder how many intros Adam has left
Finally you did right with no.1
2009 Royal Rumble is so underrated top 5 rumble ever imo
I was at that 2008 Rumble. The pop for Cena was sooo crazy...
Kevin Nash, fair play to him he's done well out of wrestling. I've never seen the fuss and I've barely seen him have a match, let alone a good one.
People thought edge would comeback in 2020? Idk, that one ranks as number one for me. Probably greatest return ever, willing to die on that hill
It makes me sad Jericho never won the rumble.
Good Video 😁💞
Cena’s return and Edge’s return in 2020 will go down as all time greatest Royal rumble returns
