Yes, I think its exterior and interior details are excellent. Kind of wish that Lionel had put a smoke unit in it. But the overall appearance is great. Thanks for watching and commenting. Owen
WE HAVE TO HAVE 2 OF THESE Cabooses on are layout. HI How hard would it be to put a smoke unit in one of those cabooses. I love My caboose much l ordered a second one . From train world I ask them to see if thay could modify it with a smoking before they send it to me
It looks like the body lifts off with just removing 2 screws. Not sure how much inside space a smoke unit would need, or how it would connect to the power. I think that Lionel may upgrade the caboose in the future with snow on the roof and a smoke unit. No inside information, but they seem to come out with something very basic first and then upgrade it a few years later. I’m looking through the catalog for one with a different road name and an operating smoke unit. Thanks for watching and commenting! Owen
Nice caboose .But I don't like the fact that they will be making them in Vietnam.Did we for get that so many young men gave there lives over there.Time in 66. to 70.Just saying 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
@@rongenco5647 - I understand. I lost three high school teammates, two more high school friends, and my closest cousin in Vietnam. I never forget how much we lost.
WOW I LOVE 💘 MY Power express caboose Yes it was a long wait but it was worth every minute of it. And yours look just super awesome on your layout . So what's your thoughts on the new 1224 Polar express work train that LIONEL putting out in the new catalogue # 2123070. I THINK WE HAVE TO GET A OTHER Polar express Caboose immediately have to on the layout..
Hard to tell from the photo. Lots of features similar to LionChief Plus 2.0. The caboose is very different from the one we just received. I wonder if the locomotive is basically the same as the Elf Work Train, but with a tender to add more electronics? I think that I’ll pass on this set. I’ve pre-ordered several new Polar Express cars already from the new catalog. How long do you think we’ll have to wait for delivery? Owen
@@OKRanchRailroad If we are really lucky we'll get them 2 months before Christmas. But I think it might be wishful thinking with this covid-19 thing . Probably be sometime in 2022
If you guys bothered to look at the Lionel catalogs, you'd know this is NOT a traditional or semi-scale model. It is cataloged under the "Standard O" banner and is listed as being scale proportioned. And given the prices of a traditionally sized caboose (with far fewer details and features) these cabooses should be much higher in list price. Lionel has always claimed they stay in businesses from their traditional line of trains, and yet the prices between those and the more expensive to produce scale products are not far off at all. That says to me, they're giving the scale stuff away. Bear in mind the Lionel Junction bobber caboose lists for $45 dollars. Using that as a barometer, this caboose should be much more like $200.00. Again, fair is fair: Why should the traditional semi-scale customer alone bear the brunt of keeping Lionel profitable? The elimination of the smoke unit on this model is right in line with a comment made by Ryan Kunkle at YORK. Also, Lionel has been producing products in Vietnam for a few years now, so this is nothing new. The rule of thumb is tooling developed and made in China, stays forever in China. This though, comes as a surprise to me to see a few newer scale items with tooling made in China, going to Vietnam. You need to read up on this: Companies go through costly hurdles to attempt to get their tooling and dies out of China, very often not successfully. Note that Lionel's line of USA produced trains - outside of the former Weaver products - are ALL traditional items that were once produced in the USA. So be careful what you wish for: USA production would likely mean loss of nearly the entire SCALE product line up... anything that wasn't previously made in the US.
Thanks for the in-depth comment. Which Lionel catalog does this caboose appear in? I could only find the online listing for it, but my catalog collection is incomplete. Thanks for watching and commenting. Owen
This caboose looks great at the end of my scale PE freight. 👍

@@OKRanchRailroad Downside of the smoke unit, though, is you sacrifice some interior space/detail. Tough choice.
That caboose is very nice for being semi-scale.
Wish I had room to do a scale layout. Thanks for watching and commenting! Owen
Can't wait to get the word out on this! Just Plain Beautiful
One word, Nice!
Nice caboose! I really like the paint and the marker lights!
Lionel definitely did a good job on this caboose. It is a great finish for the Polar Express freight train. Thanks for watching and commenting! Owen
