Some of the most famous riders of that time in what used to be the Summer School, wrecked in recent years and nothing of its former usefulness is left. And a Pas de Deux in the courtyard of the Hof. It was paved at the time but was covered in footing for outdoor performances in summer.
And THAT fellow equestrians is how the levade is done. There's no rearing involved. The hind quarters step squarely under the center of mass, and the hocks flex as the croup lowers until the forehand carries no weight and the forelimbs leave the earth strictly as a result of the weight redistribution.
And that is what is meant by the poll being the highest point and the nose being in front of the vertical. Hello FEI? Hello judges? Are you sleeping or looking away?

Even more, look at the rear impulsion in the piaffe and passage… perfectly balanced and hind is moving proportionately to the forehand.
