    This actuator broke on my Cupra Born last winter, so the dealer replaced it on warranty, and now less than a year later i've started getting problems again... lovely...

      Good day!
      Yes, it seems that they take in water, which freezes in the winter. Then the lock naturally stops moving as intended... You can heat it up with hot water / heat gun / heated garage... But you will struggle a lot to get all the water out.. and the next time it gets cold again, oops, you will have problems there again.

    Very nice tutorial! I did it on my golf in 15 minutes, you don't have to remove the white upper interior, remove the torx and pull the black interior off a little to get to the plug, easy! Thanks!

    For me, my actuator failed, it would not unlock (except if I pressed unlock 50 times, it would eventually unlock). This video was helpful for me to locate the wire from the trunk. To fix it, I just pressed unlock until the actuator unlocked, then unplugged the wire to it. It does not lock anymore, but saved me from having to buy a new actuator and from removing the actuator (i only opened up from the trunk and only a subset of what was removed in the video, i did nothing from outside). I would rather it not lock because it failed on me when I was at Empty...

    An owner of the 2020 E-Golf model here. I had the same problem 3 months ago and sprayed the entire unit with WD40 and cleaned it of dirt. My fuel filler flap works again without any problems and I also have to operate this flap every 2 days. ... But thanks for the video. … BTW: I love this car! 👍

      Hello.
      Can probably go full of shit too yes. Many people I have spoken to here in Norway experience problems with this in the winter. As moisture has entered the mechanism over time, it freezes when called.
      But maybe oil can help with some of this too.
      Now I've had problems charging the car again in the last few days. High humidity and frost, cause problems in the connector, and the charger goes into red emergency mode... Hoping for a little warmer in a few days, and then the opportunity to thaw / dry up the contacts.. Maybe I'll get it back... Or so it ends up at the workshop AGAIN!!!

    Hi there
    Thanks for the video. My egolf had the exact same problem but I couldn’t face dismantling the interior of the boot to just unclip the wiring connection. So I took the lazy man’s route, disconnected the battery, cut the wires at the actuator and soldered and heat shrink sealed the wires to the new actuator. Not very professional but saved an awful lot of time. Worth considering as an alternative solution. Karl

    Mine failed hard after a few intermittent incidents when a little gentle persuasion on the body next to the flap worked. 2020 eGolf. The dealer repaired it under warranty, but even they managed to break a small part when installing the new actuator. So it is a tricky job, and I had to wait for them to get the parts in. Thank you for showing how to get at it.

      Yes, this is not a perfect solution. Especially in countries with a lot of rain or snow. If only the solutions for the wires had been a little longer, and the interconnection of the small trigger wires had been placed a little easier, but no.

    As many people have commented elsewhere it’s actually easier to just disable the lock. You can’t steal the fuel from an EV so it doesn’t need to lock.
    BTW if you take the mud shield out of the wheel arch you can access the back of the whole unit. It’s possible to remove it by unscrewing the torx screws. There no risk as the only time there Hugh voltage there is when the car is charging

    Thank you for the video, it is quite helpful, unfortunately I have 0 skills and tools to even try. I need to get this replaced on my 2015 Egolf. I live in Oslo. Do you or the other viewers have a recommendation where can I go and how much is it supposed to cost? Should I buy the part by myself or the workshop would prefer that they order it for me? Any chance the insurance company will cover any costs?

    • @bildillamagasin
      @bildillamagasin  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hello.
      I almost expect that Mekonomen or similar chains will be significantly cheaper than Møller!?
      I think the workshop probably doesn't want to exchange parts they haven't procured themselves. For at least 2 reasons. They make the money on the parts and they don't want to start a job, only to find out they get the wrong part from the customer. It takes a lot of time and can take up space in the workshop.
      Insurance? A bit uncertain. I had NOK 8,000 in equity plus my insurance. Now the car has gone a long way, and the deductible is up to 16,000. Then it will be a very expensive repair before it pays off.

    • @bildillamagasin
      @bildillamagasin  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hei.
      Regner nesten med at Mekonomen eller tilsvarende kjeder, vil være vesentlig rimeligere en Møller!?
      Tror nok verksteden ikke ønsker å bytte deler de ikke har skaffet selv. Av minst 2 grunner. De tjener pengene på delene og de ønsker ikke å starte en jobb, for så og finne ut at de får feil del fra kunden. Det tar mye tid, og kan ta opp plass på verkstedet.
      Forsikring? Litt usikkert. Jeg hadde 8000,- i egenadel på plus forsikringen min. Nå har bilen gått langt, og egenandelen er oppe i 16000. Da skal de bli en veldig dyr reperasjon før det lønner seg.

    Another and better idea. To avoid huge surgery in the future. I would rather extend the two electrical wires and have connection right under the flap. So the next time when I have to change don't need to take down interior. And whole process of replacing will be from outside. I have to do the same soon. Because my actuator is worn. And I guess I will extend the wire and improve that. :)

    question is... do we need these two wires for led indicator. :D what if we just get rid of. Do egolf will show some fail? By the way... these 2 screws which holding the led indicator should be from outside instead of inside. then it could be easy to take out whole flap.

    • @bildillamagasin
      @bildillamagasin  2 года назад

      Good day!
      In any case, I depend on the LED indicator. My car has gone over 160,000 km and sometimes it just stops charging. Then it's nice to be able to see if the LED lights up, without having to go out to the car in the evening!
      But I don't know what, possibly comes as wrong information to the car if you cut those wires?
      Sees there is no optimal solution for the e-Golf. If something extra is just attached to a standard part, without putting in unnecessary extra work, it can look like..

      VAG ( VW, Audi, Skoda etc... ), tends to just continue with weak solutions. Even after several years of major problems, they have not managed to get rid of many of the standard errors.
      Not only them either.... Other brands that spend many years before they realize their mistakes. 🤔

    • @bildillamagasin
      @bildillamagasin  2 года назад

      Good day!
      Yes, there are many who have major problems with this here in Norway now.
      Several have only used force and broken the lock, so they get charged, or filled with fuel on the petrol and diesel versions.
      I see I have experienced that the new activator has also cheated.
      Was advised to lock the car, then unlock it, and get into the car to "start" it. Then press opening the hatch at the same time.
      I think I came up with several explanations for this.
      I'll see if I can find any and post them here.
      I don't remember if anyone has said that you get an error code, if the hatch cannot be closed, but several people I know have driven with a broken lock!
