GPU pricing has reached insane levels. A lot of buyers, myself included, have been priced right out of the new market. I currently have a 2080 Super I picked up used about a year ago. I have no plans to upgrade it at present, nor do I feel I need to. For my purposes it works just fine. You made a good move going with the 3090ti.
yea it is hard to build a new computer for clients when the prices are ridiculous!! They lean towards used because of the pricing, but selling used take more time to stress test as I test it for a solid day before letting it go.
The irony is that the 4090 is selling better than the 4080. I have zero interest in the 40 series for any of my own machines. With how poor 40 series sales are, NVIDIA had to rebrand the 4080 12GB and now they're messing with the 4070. It'll be interesting to see what they do, but with the economy heading south NVIDIA needs to rethink their product stack and their marketing. Doesn't matter what they cost to make, people are getting tighter with their spending now that the easy money is going away and the repercussions of that easy money are setting in, and it's only going to get worse over the next six months to a year. I really do think that the 4090 is a much worse deal than the 4080. I would go as far to say that anyone that's buying 4080's aren't very smart. Regardless... I'll be sticking with my 3080 Ti for a while. Unless AMD can somehow compete with NVIDIA for my editing work, I'll be skipping this generation all together.
yea it's ridiculous, I would of stuck with my 3080ti if it wasn't for what I sold it for, plus claiming my gpu as a business' expense made it free/made money on it, but I too will be skipping unless I get lucky I find someone selling it used practically free. My area we get a lot of military deploying and right before deployment they practically sell their stuff for free which is how I get alot of great used deals so who knows!! I really hope AMD brings some serious competition as I would like to run them and get away from nvidia.
In the UK all GPUs in the Nvidia Store are out of stock except the 3090Ti, I feel this is done deliberately so they can shift their massive overstock of these at MSRP where they should have dropped significantly in reality.
Currently have a project on tap on an EVGA 650W BQ PSU. The fan in my son's sounds like a lawnmower. The 650, 750 and 850 BQ Series all use the same crappy 140mm fan. My plan is to replace the fan with a better one, knowing I will have to solder the old JST connector to the wires on the new fan. I ordered an Arctic P14 fan to serve as a replacement It is 3 Pin so I know I will have to cut the wires from the Arctic, isolate the 3rd wire that registers fan speed and the splice the + and - to the JST connector to the PSU. I figured the Arctic has a good rep and is sealed from maintenance, which should also keep the lube in the bearing. I don't have to take the JST conector from the original fan since I have one attached to a 120mm Globe fan I salvaged from a dead piece of garbage ATNG PSU that was in my son's first computer, a Cyberpower pre-built from Best Buy. My plan is to desolder the JST from the Globe fan and splice it to the Arctic. I can always use the 120mm Globe fan as a case exhaust fan bc I saved 3 pin harnesses from 2 fans that died from the same pre-built computer and can do the same thing, just solder the + and - to the fan while isolating the fan speed (yellow) wire. I have a good soldering station and heat shrink tubing for the job.
@@DLMtechgarage I luv to solder. You get a decent station buddy like Weller, they are not expensive and open up worlds. I have used it to make up a PSU Molex harness and 8 pin GPU harness. Get some practice in on some spare stuff and you will be good to go. Only failure was trying to replace a broken pin on a USB3 header with the leg of an LED. Couldn't get her done.
I'll hold-out until Intel polishes their driver packages some more, my current GPU is excellent for now and I really don't care for either red or green team any more.
Same this black friday I was freaking out bcs I thought this was my only chance of getting a good gpu but after some thinking I think my 1070Ti still survives a bit more and might aswell wait for price go further down.
i saw a video wich showed a 2080- ti with a 1st gen ryzen has the same preformance as a 4090 just shows that hardware lasts you do not need the newest and coolest to enjoy gaming
Honestly I don't think that was a smart purchase. the 7900 XT/X will cost around the same as what you paid and outperform this gpu by a large margin and almost match is in RT plus it consumes alot less power, similarly the upcoming 4070Ti will be almost as fast and probably cheaper and alot more effecient and even better in RT plus it has DLSS3. obviously it's still a beastly card that will run any game with ease but for almost 1k$ waiting a bit more would've been wiser.
@@ihateevilbill it's going to compete with the 4080 so obviously it will be a lot faster than the 3090Ti. and waiting 2-3 weeks is worth it,I didn't say wait for the RTX 5000 release.
