Not to sound cocky but I can draw pretty well, and at this point in my life It's not even about watching Jim draw anymore, I just like listening to him talk about art, or just talk in general.
@@mattbarnett4210 It's a lead holder... most likely this one here... amzn.to/3V4kNUF Jim has created a list of his own that lists the same one in my FAQ. Since the lead is interchangeable... just go with the one that feels more comfortable to you.
@@VZAAGE Sure. I know it's a lead holder. The one I linked on Amazon looks exactly like the one he's using. I thought I put a link to it in the comments. Was it deleted?
@@bigboibubba5528 I own 5.6mm clutch pencils myself and I think I have a couple good reasons why I like theme :) 1. It feels heavy in the hand, and some people like it. I know people who draw that would spend more money on pens and pencils that are heavier and will feel like they won't break. 2. It's good for people with a tight grip or heavy hand because the lead is much harder to break. 3. It uses the same sharpener as a regular pencil, or you can sharpen it the same way as a charcoal pencil. 4. You have a different stroke quality. Not necessarily better than, say, a 2.0 mm lead (which is close to a regular pencil. But, you can still do sharp detail work but at the same time fill in large shapes. You can slightly tilt the pencil and suddenly you can fill an 8.5x11 inch page in seconds. 5. It lasts a LONG time because the lead is so huge. I bought 6 boxes of these 5.6mm leads several years ago and I'm still using the first lead, LOL. That said, I use other pencils and pens. 6. The lead holder/clutch is WIDE, which I really like. It's ergonomic and fills my large hand perfectly, so I never have sore hands after a couple hours of sketching. Hope that helps! :)
Jim used to do giveaways which I believe this one was. He also auctioned off pieces every now and then. You can always try and commission Jim through Albert Moy's website as well.
I like that he says 'generic guy' but in reality he's drawing Anakin inside the suit hahaha
It's insane I used to draw this man's work as a child now I'm watching him draw masterpieces in front of me. "In the year 2000"
You just can draw anything!! you're a master!!

Mindblowingly good!!! And very humbling indeed!!! 👏👏👏👏
Cheers,

this may very well be the only time Jim spent more than 5 min and still be sketching. Honestly, this guy's the Master

Technical items especially in the comic field should be accurate and therefore tracing outlines is perfectly acceptable.

Why the huge lead holder? Anyone know?
Very recommendable for sketching. I guess he used it to focus more in shape than in the actual ending lines. I love my 5,6 mm plastic Cretacolor.😉
@@TheOliverin How does a large lead holder make you focus more on shapes? I'm experienced, but dont really see what you mean
